Very nice!

Is anyone else experiencing what fumanchu808 is experiencing?Since the latest update(0.4.14), there is no range limit that prevented placing shorts too close to bids. I can place a short order to exact match the bid, however the order does not appear on the the public board. When i place the short far enough from the bids, it appears on the public board.
"Short BitUSD"
"Range 23.0769 - 28.4900 BTSX/BitUSD"
"Highest Bid 24.49 BTSX/BitUSD"
File "main.py", line 5

what is this?I'm using Ubuntu 14
Uber is a service with centralization and traceability of actors. It has little relation to what is being done here. I don't particularly see the relevance except both being internet based.
I agree with Xeroc. Off topic.
If you had an idea about how Uber could be decentralized and avoid protectionism/crony capitalism etc then that'd be a great conversation.
This is important because of the following
1) Government regulation coming down on an innovation causing them not to go into a market. (take away for us: being prepared against regulation, something im nailing into the heads of everyone, and hopefully BM)
2) An innovation similar to us it being an innovation and we being an innovation.
3) no 3.
Where is the offtopic forum?
Off topic = Random discussion at bottom of top section.
Everyone here who has been around and "gets it" knows what can happen. This is just another example that is vaguely applicable.
Government has also been going after b2b but decentralization is obviously not going to fix that. Thats not news to the aware people here.
Here is the basic problem with this thread. This whole ecosystem (Bitshares) has been based around avoiding intervention by third parties. It isn't just being trustless, but about being immune to malevolent and protectionist entities. You come around saying you need to "nail into BM's head" something that he has spent years thinking about and designing around. Does that not strike you as an utter and complete waste of his time at this point and the rest of the community ?
I really am not trying to be a dick, but I get the feeling that if people don't say "wooah slow it down buddy", you will not even attempt to filter your posts. Every post that you make that provides no humor/info (value) is a waste of dozens of people's time.
If you want to be helpful and make infographics and market bitshares, then PLEASE do so. Bitshares can use anyone who does this. So in that regard I want you to stick around and be helpful.
Personally, there are times I start making a post, then I realize... Gamey, you really have nothing to contribute. I then click the back arrow and avoid wasting the time of others. Maybe consider that ?
Your post per day ratio is likely 3x the next person. Please take this into consideration.
One of the best post ever follows. Kind of hard to add to that:
'The average Joe isn't going to be able to understand the system any more than they understand the current banking system or even bitcoin. At the end of the day most people have to watch it work and then learn to trust it. While there is some value in trying to explain it to the average Joe in simple terms, much is lost in translation and that is really beyond the point of this particular thread.
I think that if someone wishes to "attack" the idea BitUSD but lacks the background to know the terms used, then they also lack the standing to publicly criticize and declare a scam, fraud, or broken system. I do not like to hide behind fancy language and have taken great effort to explain it in simple terms in many places. Unfortunately the simple explanations are never "complete, accurate, and authoritative".
The primary difference between BitUSD and the FED is that it is market driven and all IOUs are collateralized 200%. In the case of the Fed they can print up $2 trillion dollars without having any collateral. BTSX would require collateral worth $4 trillion dollars to exist. The next difference is transparency. Another difference is the complete lack of "price fixing".'
So here's my recommendation:
Buy ads on /r/Bitcoin etc. that says
Earn interest on your Bitcoin,
or
Did you know Bitcoin looses $Billion a year?
or
Ten seconds block times, trustless BTC, USD, Gold trading
and lands to a Bitshares-X page geared specifically towards BTC holders.
Buy native advertising on CoinDesk and other crypto media outlets.
Stop wasting money trying to acquire traffic from people interested in buying Bitcoin for the first time. They barely "get" Bitcoin, don't think you can make them understand even deeper levels of abstraction.
I agree with your propositions short term but from time prospective they are too tactical.
Bitcoin has made some promises and some of them are fulfilled and some are not and some never will be.
BisharesX has its promises too and one of them is to be better technology then Bitcoin, and on top of that to replace not only the money but the whole ecosystem associated with it. And that's only beginning.
Beside Bitcoin has barely scratch its targeted market and it is about time to be replaced by more mature technology.
As for getting the technology, me and my wife don't get nothing about GPRS technology but we use it all the time.
You dont need to explain everything you just need to explain how could I benefit from it.
So what is BitsharesX strategic objective?
Who is its really meant for? Who could benefit from it most?
How can we find better, faster, easiest ways to achieve those goals and etc..
I think answer for above questions should be our long term marketing goals.
I think it's better to have a white list.
you can only sent to the account in the white list.
if you want to sent to a new account, you need to add the account to the white list first. this can avoid the stupid mistake.
just a update but it looks like the interest is gone because I transferred money to myself. Yield est. is now zero. can anyone inform me what the correct way to collect interest from bitUSD is? don't want to lose anymore money guessing.
if this is true does it mean we loose yield every time we vote ?
...The majority of delegates will want to jump off the cliff, and only a few will be trying to do the right thing and change directions faster...
I'm not sure what you mean by this?
All grass roots, and beurocratic organizations have the same problem. First off, you can't do anything alone, especially with world finances like this. You need to have the largest herd possible. So, the problem becomes, how do you get the largest possible herd (get smart people to stop splitting), AND get that herd to make the drastic and often difficult to make changes necessary for survival and the most rapid possible progress, without getting bogged down by size.
And leading minds, like everyone creating all the Alt coins, are like cats. If we could all work together, efficiently and intelligently, everyone working together, rather than trying to kill everyone else, or hoping they die, we would have conquered the financial world by now.
There is always popular herding opinion, that is often not the best way to think, believe, and act. A few minority experts always see this first, but how do you make it easy for them to help the entire herd to get educated, and change directions as fast as possible.
I think that in the near future, the Bitshares community will be faced with an existential issue. If the herd does the right thing, instantly, they will survive, if they do the wrong thing (like Bitcoin is choosing to stay with POW) or if it takes too long to get all delegates to OK a change, we will die, or be significantly hurt, compared to what could be. You can already see this today - inability to get the entire herd to see the best rules to make for BitUSD and all that. Sure, THE bytemaster is the world's most brilliant person with all this, but we could do so much better, if everyone could communicate concisely and quantitatively. We need a quantitatively measurable way to determine what the experts believe is best. Like is possible at Canonizer.com, we could be progressing so much faster, without THE bytemaster bottleneck. We all need to be able to perform at his level, if we really want to change direction fast as a huge herd, without having lots of splitters. diluting or forking things.
...The majority of delegates will want to jump off the cliff, and only a few will be trying to do the right thing and change directions faster...
but if you make a profit from it you need to pay tax ... better clear this out with your local gov first
"The Greatest Financial Experiment Since Bitcoin"
That is pretty good.
