General Discussion / Re: IOTA + Bitshares
« on: November 30, 2015, 12:53:19 pm »
@iota I am sure this has been answered somewhere but can you please advise:

1. Once the crowfunding ends tokens will be distributed and available for trading in exchanges?
2. What is your estimation of when the project would complete and these token actually serve at something?

Thank you very much!

looooool!

Margin calls + illiquid altcoins = hilarious.

Yes we all had a great laugh with the margin call of bts in polo due to illiquidity..Not cool...

What would be interesting but I don't know how/if possible is if I can buy ETH, NXT etc IOU from Metaexchange with BTS or bitbtc at least and not with NXT, ETH, BTC..

The idea is to use open ledger wallet for everything..I do not want to go buy i.e. NXT to an external exchange and then change that NXT for IOU NXT but I would like to have the option to buy your IOU.NXT with bts..Does it make sense?

@onceuponatime you are right about Brownies. Maybe it was a bad example...

What about obits, or Metafees? Are they considered securities or just "tokens of appreciation"? Aren't these serve the same thing as the UIA about stealth transfers? Raise funds and distribute earnings from fees?

Anyway, I may got all these wrong..I am sure you guys you will figure this out how to do it but please let's do this as soon as possible because without stealth transfers we will never see liquidity on the DEX..

1) BM issues the UIA with a fixed amount and price so total market cap is $45k
2)  people buy into that via bitusd and bts
3) BM uses converts the bitusd and bts in usd
4) Owners of the UIA "may" receive the fees from the stealth transfers for life
5) Problem solved right?

Everything is based on trust. No legal binding. No "security"
I'm not sure the "may" would hold up. If BM refused to distribute any fees, a court may enforce it because the implied expectation was materially relied upon.

a proper disclaimer associated with the UIA solves any legal issues I think...
I don't think that there is any legal binding with Brownies
"Brownie points in modern usage are a hypothetical social currency, which can be acquired by doing good deeds or earning favor in the eyes of another, often one's superior.
Issued by bytemaster".
Nothing in this statement says anything about any possible future sharedrops but a lot of people in here are buying these Brownies in the expectation and hope of those sharedrops..No matter what happens no one can claim that this is a security because of the implied expectation by some people..

Bitshares is a free society based on free gifts from one to the other. We are building a gift economy here. I don't think you can drive BM to the court if he issues an asset that people buy in with the expectation to receive fees for life and then he refuses to distribute those fees. All you can do in this case is never trust him ever again..I think we overcomplicate things for no reason..

General Discussion / Re: Using Bitcoin as Collateral
« on: November 27, 2015, 06:48:30 pm »
I am not sure I understand exactly what you mean since I never figured out the SQP but the first thought that came reading this why bitbtc should be treated differently than bitusd. i.e if you think that there is a need for real btc to collateralise bitbtc then real usd should be needed to collaterilize bitusd as well..

I don't like implementing a hard fork to change fee allocation to go to a specific account. It's not very decentralized. Perhaps a UIA-based solution is better.

Yep it sounds shit.

@Chronos  If you could articulate how a UIA would escape the regulatory concern of issuing a "security" it would be helpful.

@oldmine   I am having trouble understanding what your contribution is adding to the search for solutions as to how to fund new features..

why a UIA would be considered a "security"? It can simply be a UIA like all the ones people create  with no real value like "goodidea" opensesame" ,"brownies" etc..with no strings attached like AGS was in the past. People decide to buy it because they believe it "may" have some value like earning fees from stealth transfers..I don't see any legal binding in all that or any kind of "security"..

1) BM issues the UIA with a fixed amount and price so total market cap is $45k
2)  people buy into that via bitusd and bts

First of all a big thank you to onceuponatime. He is a very well known supporter of bitshares and has my full support! +5% +5% +5% for everything you have done to bitshares so far!!

Secondly I like also the idea of UIA. Let everyone who wants to participate in this buy the UIA by supporting the project. This way onceuponatime will share the risks but also the profits. CNX will get it done and the rest will be history. The UIA holders should receive a very big % of the fees. I would say something like 90% at least.

Either way whatever you decide is good for me as long as it is gets done. So I just have one question that I don't see anyone addressed yet...

If CNX gets the $45k funding via onceuponatime or via crowdfunding and various investors, @bytemaster ,  how long will it take to finish the project?

please make a tab in the Gui showing the open orders of the specific wallet..we had that in bts 1 and we should definitely have it in bts2

Yes, atm unless you don't memorize the market where you placed an order (i guess you can check account history) you don't know . You need to go there manually when you could just click on your open order and take you to that market. Also be able to cancel any orders from that tab

I don't know the difficulty of things but my guess would be that to have a tab showing all the open orders in that wallet shouldn't be that difficult..It is important though. With all the UIA and MPAs and multiple small orders in different markets it is impossible to keep everything on track. I many times  go to one market then change my mind go to somewhere else etc etc..Having a tab canceling the open orders is a must. All exchanges in the world have a tab for open trades..

General Discussion / How to create my first UIA
« on: November 21, 2015, 06:03:32 pm »
I want to create a token and I have a couple (actually a lot of questions)..

A) Very Important: Transfer Fees.. I want the fees to be paid in the form of  i.e. mf-tzocoin and not in bts or even better I do not want any transfer fees when people transfer my coin between them. Is this possible?

B) Please explain all the below what they mean:

FLAGS:

1. Enable market fee. why there are 2 lines what does it mean?
2. Require holders to be white-listed?
3. Issuer may transfer asset back to himself? Does this mean I can take back the tokens who others may have paid in the future to buy in the open market? what...???
4. Issuer must approve all transfers? I guess this mean people can't trade and only I can make the transfers?
5. Disable confidential transactions?

PERMISSIONS:
Same questions as above. What does these mean. What is the difference. Which ones I turn on or disable..??

C) Sharebits.io

I am not sure exactly what this does. I do apologize there is no excuse to that. Please explain if possible in 2 lines.
Can I use sharebits to distribute my coin to all forum members, to bitcoin talk members, reddit members etc?

D) Is there a way for me to distribute my token to forum members automatically or do I need to make one by one the transfers my self?

E) Ideally I would like people who visit www.bitshares.gr and register in an online wallet to receive x amount automatically from my token. Is there an easy automated way I can do this or do I need to check every time who registered via the website and do it my self manually.

F) Once eventually I manage hopefully to create my UIA, How do I list this in the market? What do I do if I want my token to be traded vs. BTS for example?

G) Anything else I should know about this?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! :)

General Discussion / A couple of important things
« on: November 18, 2015, 08:49:06 am »
I am sure you are aware and may have been discussed elsewhere just wanted to adress some things I find important and missing.

1. Paying fees for internal transfers between accounts under the same wallet is just silly..No bank charges you with fees when you transfer from one account to another as long as is the same bank

2. If I refer someone who wants to become a lifetime member and trade and has not much technical skills he wouldn't know how to do it. The user should be able to deposit fiat to an IBAN visible on the DEX, be able to get verified in the DEX wallet without the need to register to CCEDK, buy bts with fiat and pay the lifetime membership and start trading..

When i say to people that they have to register in an external platform, buy some btc, transfer that to DEX and trade you can't imagine their look.. :o :o ::) ::) ::)

General Discussion / Re: Bike Lounge in Athens Mall accepts biteur
« on: November 17, 2015, 08:53:56 pm »
just thought to bump this thread a bit...

please check www.bitshares.gr as well and click the relevant button "Το bikelounge στο Athens Mall δεχεται biteur" so you can go to the relevant page..

Now for people living in Greece: Lock some bts as collateral, borrow some biteur from the DEX and come buy a nice bike at discount.. :)
Eventually BTS will go up in price and you will be able to repay your biteur loan..hopefully... ;)
