General Discussion / Re: Poker DAC

Yeah that would work. You would need to factor in the amount of money the house would require to startup when seeking funding for this DAC so it doesn't go bankrupt.
The house pool can simply exist upon DAC launch and wouldnt need to be funded by anyone. This should not devalue the BlackJack-coins as one would only gain access to this pool through winning. The BlackJack-coins would still be hard to get even if the DAC starts out with a large pool.

I like this idea but it's been a long day so I can't think it out completely lol.

Yeah that would work. You would need to factor in the amount of money the house would require to startup when seeking funding for this DAC so it doesn't go bankrupt. You could calculate this by limiting the number of players to a table, the number of tables and setting a maximum bet size. Then you'd just work out the worst case scenario based on those figures and you'd have the amount you need.

A poker DAC could work without a house as the players are playing for each others money. Just take a small fee (1% for example) from the player who wins each hand and there's the DAC's profit.

I've been thinking about this, have several different ways to implement this but I'm working on another DAC first which will hopefully allow me to make a poker DAC and eventually a full blown decentralised casino. Vegas will be playing catch up by the time I'm done.

A good place to start may be to run a DAC that allows players to play blackjack against the house (the DAC).
It would be a simpler way to start and then expand into other games.

How would you keep the house money in a decentralised and transparent manner that won't result in someone just taking all the money?

Totally support this, it's good to see Invictus put a figure into stone, I think it's only fair considering they delivered PTS that they define the social contract.

It would be very interesting to see people use this DAC to hire programmers, to help them create their own DACs!

It's a bit of a chicken-egg situation at the moment, hopefully someone jumps on this soon as it'll have the potential to greatly increase the rate at which DAC's are produced.

lol that's awesome!

Yeah I'll say I'm starting to agree, transparency will be key.

Interesting development

PirateBrowser is cool, but it's a bandaid, unfortunately. All it does is allow people in countries where the TPB IP has been blocked to access TPB by routing through the Tor network. If blocking TPB became popular, it would lose its effectiveness as there would be very few suitable exit nodes.

True true

Well this escalated quickly....i'll read the 7 new pages when I get home but I can only assume this idea is dead in the water now

I don't know what deal you're talking about. There are several ideas on the table. And things aren't that heated. I'm having fun.

Bytemasters initial proposal

Where did I say things were heated?

I agree with Liberty's points on this one although I won go so far as to say its If it's just a proposal to the community bytemaster then why are you getting so defensive? A little more tact in your explanations might win you more support.

Also I feel the hosting companies might be getting money but at least the distribution mechanism for the coins/shares is decentralised because they play no part in determining how many coins you end up with at the end of the day.
