General Discussion / Let start bitGLD?!
« on: September 04, 2014, 06:20:09 am »
Out of curiosity: Is it safe/a good idea to start bitGLD now .. with things moving as fast as https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8224.msg107826#msg107826
we might want to start it right now, don't we?

I am trying to achieve the following and just can't because I am not a coder, or it's just not possible.

Assume I have a bitcoin public key for a btc address and NOT the private key. I'd like to register a name with a public key such that I can send funds there and the holder of the btc private key can simply import his btc privkey into the wallet and import the account name I created for him.

However, to achieve this I need a tool that returns a btsx Pubkey given a bitcoin pubkey.
As both are ECC this should be possible. Can someone be of assistance ...

Willing to pay a bounty (probably bigger than 200 BTSX) for it.

old topic: Reduced *.delegate.xeroc to a payrate of 80%

Just wanted to let you know that I reduced the payrate of
a.delegate.xeroc  (active)
b.delegate.xeroc  (active)
c.delegate.xeroc
d.delegate.xeroc
e.delegate.xeroc
f.delegate.xeroc

to 80% and plan to further reduce the payrates in the coming weeks ...

As some of you might already know, I made a promise to remove some of my delegates as I currently controll 6 delegates (3x *.xeroc and 3x *.charity) which is bad in terms of decentralization.

As I obviously do not plan to remove the charity delegates (first payouts to come soon now that we have the bitUSD for payouts ..)
I'd like to remove the two active delegates above:
a.delegate.xeroc  (active)
b.delegate.xeroc  (active)
and will continue running only one personal delegate delegate.xeroc.

So please feel free and remove your approvals accordingly ...
If you chose not to remove the approval I am fine with it, but be adviced that I will make them be fired once the auto-fire is available in the client.

Ah, and I also plan to reduce the payrate of delegate.xeroc but cannot run the numbers currently to evaluate how low I can go profitably.
Enough said ... I am ready for input :)

I offer 200 BTSX to the best solution for the following task.

Given: a bitcoin public key (in hexadecimal char vector)

Input:
 - from command line argument: public key for a bitcoin address in hexformat

Ouput:
 - the BTSX address that can be accessed if you own the private key to the input private key
 - the PTS address that can be accessed by the same private key

Hint .. go over to the BitShares Toolkit sources .. in the programs/utils folder there are tools that
can be expended to achieve this task. I tried figuring it out myself but just failed :(

Ah, yha, please post the documented source code (probably less than 50 lines of code)

General Discussion / Reddit sticky at r/BitShares
« on: August 23, 2014, 07:06:49 pm »
Hey there,

I took some time and wrote a short FAQ for the BitShares subreddit. Could some please go over
it proof-read and tell me what I must add to the FAQ?

I'd like to make a sticky (the only one possible with reddit) out of this post .. so it should "look good" and have "quality content"
(not that I can produce such thing ;-)  ). Could need your help there .. Just post here .. or over there ... Let's make the post become better and better ..

Technical Support / BitShares Publkey Keys (advanced) - Question
« on: August 22, 2014, 02:50:07 pm »
Hey there,
I guess that the following question can only be answered by the devs. I will give it a shot:

Assume I have a bitcoin address (and the pubkey) and NOT the corresponding private key for that pubkey(address).
But I'd like to register a name for the guys who owns that private key. So I need a way to figure out the BitShares Public Key from the Bitcoin Public Key.
How can I achieve that?

General Discussion / In the meantime: Bter robbed ~50m NXT
« on: August 15, 2014, 10:02:01 am »
Just received this mail from some mailinglist ..

Quote
~50 million NXT has been stolen from BTER.
The money was transferred from NXT-LSC3-VB9T-2W3V-BH7FB to NXT-8WJ7-8A2H-MBYN-3W9K4.
BTER asked Nxt community to help.

The only legit way to do it (without abusing power of developers) is to ask forgers to decide what to do:

Keep forging the current branch with 50M belonging to the thief

OR

Remove the blocks after the theft and forge another branch where 50M will belong to BTER

U still have time to roll the changes back, after 720 blocks on top it will be too late. U should try to reach Jean-Luc to get NRS version that allows to manually delete recent blocks.

some numbers:

50mio NXT are ~5% of the supply
worth over $1/2m

General Discussion / [realcoin discussion] marketing chance
« on: July 10, 2014, 09:12:27 am »
hey friends,

can we take over that thread on reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2abbq9/we_need_a_decentralized_exchange_first_step_get/

because the bitUSD is EXACTLY what they want!

Reading through
http://bitcoinmagazine.com/14608/cryptocurrency-fundraising-evolved/

I realized they not even know about BitShares ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can that be!?!?!?

Is this our fault or are they just not doing research prior to publishing articles?
We just missed that train for free marketing :(

That's not quite what I said. I said that every pure PoS system, except a PoS system with trusted chain download sources, can always and forever be taken over by a 51% collusion of the genesis block allocation. If you're willing to accept that, then TaPoS-based systems plus slasher plus some kind of yet-undiscovered transaction aggregation protocol seem to be quite viable, albeit flimsier in certain ways.
Whats TaPoS in ethereum language?

General Discussion / Initial price for a XTS
« on: July 02, 2014, 02:14:12 pm »
Hey friends,

I start thinking about what a realistic initial price for a XTS would be.
Taking the XTS asset from the blockchain (test run7)
Quote
default (unlocked) >>> blockchain_get_asset XTS
{
  "id": 0,
  "symbol": "XTS",
  "name": "BitShares XTS",
  "description": "Stake in future BitShares X chains",
  "public_data": null,
  "issuer_account_id": 0,
  "precision": 100000,
  "current_share_supply": 199999281421126,
  "maximum_share_supply": 1000000000000000,
  "collected_fees": 953331802,
  "registration_date": "20140701T000000"
}
yields a supply of 199999281421126 which is (afaik)  1999992814.21126 XTS.
The 28. feb loss in value for PTS was at least 15kUSD

How many PTS have existed on 2.28?
What is the ratio of PTS->XTS and BTC->XTS?

What your honest (not sure if this works out) price for your XTS?

I am thinking about buying some XTS (worth 5 BTC) right on launch and can't come up with a BTC to XTS price .. any help?

General Discussion / BitcoinTalk: PoS is broken .. idiotic arguments

Read for your self:
I guess they really have no idea about what we are trying to achieve here:

Just a wild shot to reduce issues

* create an account 'founder' (no need to register,  arbitrary name)
* wallet_import_privkey <privkeys> founder
* wallet_import_bitcoin 'file' founder
* Move your funds to a registered name, i.e. keyhotee founder id or registered after launch
  wallet_transfer foo XTS founder registereid "initial stake"

Done
