General Discussion / Re: Why I like Ethereum [BLOG POST]
« on: January 15, 2016, 06:28:13 am »
it is a big issue...  EVM mode can bring in tone of developers... but  Graphene does not has this kind of capability  :'(

Overall this is a great idea, specially EVM becoming an standard as it was mentioned and the capability to interop across different chains. Bitshares provides already a great BitAsset interface / Exchange etc. This will be like running Java in different OS.

Ill have to say I am the first to say it is hard to add functionality to BitShares, as it was mentioned on the blog post it is hard to sandbox yourself to test extra functionality. It is simpler to test your models in Ethereum BUT I am also the first one to say that if you need extra performance you can move to Graphene.

I look forward to this and is never too late. Yes Toast / Rune / Ryan are great candidates to do this.

thanks for your note....
I was wondering why last night there were 7 out of 21 not producing blocks but my node(bue) was out . I guess those 7 do not need your votes and still be able to stay in the active witnesses list  .....  :P :)

I will vote the rest of you back in later today.  I hope everyone who was voted out knows it was nothing personal, I was just attempting to get to 67% participation before more drastic measures were required.

not sure why ? i am getting "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" after starting node

Run in GDB and post backtrace.
It was due to my script pointed to old version client...

BM, my witness bue is back to work and need your votes to back to service[emoji1]

currently only 14 active witnesses .... 7 out of  21 are dead for 4 hours ....

bue is up    ...please vote bue back to service

57.8125% participation and rising..

Proxies please support delegated-proof-of-steak and clayop because they are quality witnesses who got up to date faster than everyone else.  A quick vote could get us up to 67% participation in a timely manner.

@jakub BM/CNX has already showed that they wouldn't bring anything else for you to vote, why not present your opinion by voting against current choice?

(1) I vote for STEALTH instead of NOTHING because I prefer STEALTH to NOTHING.
Thus my vote is not meant to be a political manifestation but the actual choice for the best option out of the two available.

(2) I am being realistic here: at this stage we need CNX to be strong and CNX needs cash to pay their developers and grow. CNX is our strategic partner. One might argue that CNX being weak or non-existent would attract another company to fill the space, but even if this is true (which I doubt) we would end up replacing one CNX with another CNX.

(3) And last but not least: STEALTH does not matter to me personally but more people than I expected have declared that STEALTH is important to them.
So there seems to be actual market demand for this. Additionally, this is enforced by the feedback I get from people outside the crypto-world: whenever I demo the GUI to them, they are really surprised that their account and all transfers are publicly visible. They are not used to that as the legacy systems don't allow it.
For all .... happy year 2016.

I wish bm will be a shining star in the new year and bts price  to the moon[emoji12]
Stealth has been approved by now .. removing your votes will not change anything wrt hard fork approval

Why not use bitusd ?   @onceuponatime
if you use bitUSD , our BTS system  can benefit from this deal

Just out of curiosity.....   The 45K or 50K that onceuponatime was willing to put up .....was that in the form of  Bitcoin,USD or BTS ?

Bank wire transfer of US dollars.
