Since the crowdfund is going live tomorrow, I would like to extend everyone an invitation to a livestream I will be hosting.

I will be covering the opening of the crowdfund and the initial results.

Details can be found here:

I posted about this at bitcointalk as well for you.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Proxy: fav - Journal
« on: February 25, 2017, 06:33:05 am »
only 5 witnesses answered the call to action within 24 hours https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23826 - as a consequence I deleted my vote for all other witnesses.

hopefully the change to 3bts will bring in some fresh and motivated witnesses. I will gladly add them to my slate.

I came in a few hrs past this 24hr deadline because of the time I check forums. Lame.

One more BTW..It is actually Peerplays crowdfund accepting only BTC, that squeeze rope on the neck to BTS now.

How do you figure?

General Discussion / Re: Regulation-compatible cryptoasset issuance

I need something like in the gaming industry. People buy tokens from us for an ammount of money.

Not possible. Not in crypto anyways. You can always give a whirl with the 4 year old Casinocoin.

It seems I failed to make my self clear: For sure, I would love to see more active Witnesses, but given how much people have contributed in the past for free in their spare time, I oppose throwing money at witnesses for just being witnesses and not actually doing anything for the money they get except the "very basic" things. I'd rather see competition among witnesses and fresh blood.
It's not perse that I am against raising the pay, but, I would prefer them to show more efforts FIRST!

It's unlikely you will see more competition. Look at what we see in steem. The competition is rather high because the payout is rather reasonable. Nobody gets excited about peanuts.. so those that are left doing it are either people who are filling the void for the sake of the network out of altruism, or people who are in a different economic state where the current pay rate actually is reasonable. Partially explains why more than half of the witnesses now are asian.

I rather see real global competition like what has somewhat been seen in steem. If you want to attract talent, it has to be worth their time and effort. Currently it doesn't look worth it.

So I guess the feedback you were looking from witnesses as to what they will do with the increase didn't come or was unacceptable in your perspective.
I did read feedback from a couple witnesses here in the forums and on telegram but there are still plenty of witnesses I haven't even seen in months let alone reading anything from them.
If we get those voted out and can instead vote in some fresh and motivated people, then I will re-evaluate.

I'm curious as to why you believe the feed accuracy issue has been "resolved" given the eastern perspective. I've been reading this forum every day for a couple of weeks now but that isn't my impression.

I'm open to new info. Perhaps I missed an important input, for example on Telegram which I can't keep up with on the ...DEX channel.
My impression was that most witnesses updated their feed script to reflect the price according to the wishes of the chinese community (i.e. neglect western BTC trading pairs and focus on the chinese-based BTC price).
Are there still witnesses producing "massively" inaccurate price feeds?

I wonder if this is still an issue since the China gov audited the china exchanges and found out that they were manipulating the BTC markets and so are forcing them to charge fees for trading now. It would suggest that their price is likely going to be more in line with the North American/Euro prices more so now. I guess we have to wait a bit to see.

General Discussion / Re: Peerplays Announcement - BTS Snapshot Date
« on: January 31, 2017, 07:29:28 pm »
I just checked my account on OpenLedger and I don't see any peerplays sharedrop, has it happened yet or are we still waiting?

Thanks

It will never appear in your OpenLedger. They are only available in the launch of the Peerplays blockchain.

Dantheman has explained the issue with the OP much better than I ever could.

https://steemit.com/steem/@dantheman/response-to-cosmos-white-paper-s-claims-on-dpos-security

I also believe in the future of the network and the BTS token but choose to short fiat, provide liquidity and trade on our DEX.

Yes it is a great analysis of the finer points of the differences.

I started this in response to the call from the #2 largest proxy in telegram saying he would support witnesses that would participate in such a 'lockup of bts' sort of arrangement. I thought this would be interesting to see if other proxies would make such a commitment and if this might create some kind of shakeup/competition.

It's been disappointing to see that not only did the proxy not change any of his voting patterns, no other proxies took to this little experiment.

I see no reason why witnesses should offer to lock up BTS at this point, as other players within the system who seemed to claim value in such action seem unwilling to reward it with their voter support, and other proxies have not given any consideration to this move.

Anyway.. I saw this as a fun little experiment as I mentioned earlier on to see if it would make an impact in any way in the political space of the witnesses and it didn't.

Much more important for bitshares to answer is why question.

« on: January 23, 2017, 02:44:52 am »
have a positive effect on Bitshares .. as has Steem(it)

By what measure, pray tell?

Their all based on Graphene. If one develops a new feature like stealth, sidechains,  warp bubble, etc. Bitshares  can incorporate it at a fraction of the cost. How cool is that?

I think the 5% sharedrop has a more measurable effect. Someone made a post talking about the value a while back:

https://steemit.com/peerplays/@steempower/peerplays-drops-usd600-000-usd-of-value-into-the-bitshares-ecosystem

Mind you that was based on the market rate at that time of roughly $12-$13 per Peerplays. Our market closed 4X from that later.. effectively providing $2.4 million of value to BTS holders... but we will see just how much it turns out to be.

Taking from other projects depends on licensing.

@bytemaster has stated a possible solution, in which top 15 witnesses do MULTI-SIG to relevant bitcoin transactions, however "In theory the witnesses could collude to steal all deposited BTC funds."

in my words the "risk" refer to this, I don't know whether there are ways to avoid this kind of risk.

The best way to substantially mitigate this risk is probably to have known entities as witnesses.  For starters, below is a list of 10 entities that might participate.  And there may be other entities that I'm not thinking of, especially in China.  @bitcrab?

The remaining slots could be filled by known entities outside the graphene ecosystem and/or a few of the most prominent, publicly-known witnesses within the ecosystem.

Anyway, I wonder if Dan has secretly been working on a solution behind the scenes.  It wouldn't surprise me.  Anything announced along these lines would be a pretty big development.

1. Steemit Inc.
2. OpenLedger
3. BlockPay
4. Transwiser
5. Blocktrades
6. Peerplays
7. BitKapital
8. BitGate
9. Chainsquad
10. Busy.org

You can stop wondering.. he wasn't. Have you read the recent steemit roadmap? The word bitshares and all the other words you listed above other than steemit do not appear in that document that is supposed to layout the next year for steem.
