Let's not exaggerate too much...

It is not unfair to shorts, you can roll over ever day if you want. It just means you have to accept your losses day by day instead of all at once. That does not increase your losses, the only thing that does is decrease your leverage (so shorting as much as before USD requires buying more BTS than before because you lost BTS from shorting).

BTS long-term HODLers are slowly calling out the superbulls who were effectively borrowing money to buy BTS. A BitUSD holder can exit a huge position with 10-15% gains depending on when he bought in, which is like calling their loans with interest and a premium.

A very simple solution is to put all fees from all assets into a pool that *BTS holders* get to draw from (not delegates not, extra interest!). Then at some point the measly income is better than the lack of interest the scared shorts are paying, and BTS price can start rising again.

IMO the better effort is the eDollar which is heavily modeled after bitUSD, built by our own "ethereum guy" Rune.

"Ethereum's bitUSD" is a bad way to describe it, because this is one single stablecoin proposal for their platform. If they succeed at their mission there will be plenty of people who build on ethereum who want no particular association with the ethereum project/team.

Bullshit scapegoat propoganda

If you can control BTC as collateral (for example with spv sidechain) you might as well just use it directly as sidechain BTC

Who is going? Monday through wednesday. Maybe we can have an alternate meetup to talk about next generation blockchain apps instead of hearing about basic use cases of bitcoin again...  http://insidebitcoins.com/new-york/2015/agenda

Random Discussion / Re: 300 reasons you might be a Coder

Usually these kinds of lists are funny and relatable but I think this one was supposed to be "ways to know you're a redneck". Which of these has anything to do with coding (ok the bad hygiene ones, ha ha)?

He hasn't made any mention that his delegate funds were being redirected.

Actually I've repeatedly mentioned it and the fact that I keep having to do so is why I'm finally deciding it's not worth it. Maybe a solution could have been setting up a web page clarifying this I could link to from the delegate URL

114
IMO the fact that I haven't been voted out yet is troubling. Maybe I should just turn them off and allow lots of blocks to be missed? It'd save me $80/mo since I don't use that vps for anything else anymore...

General Discussion / Re: Bitreserve on Max Kaiser
« on: April 13, 2015, 02:33:28 am »
i thought so, but they take the same name BitUSD for example

How will a customer in the future knowing if he has the real BitUSD? Has Bitshares copyrights for the logo etc?

the lawyers we talked to claimed those terms couldn't be trademarked. If they end up getting it then either the lawyers we talked to were wrong or bitreserve just had enough influence and it didn't matter. I feel like I've been the only person pushing to figure out what can or needs to be done about it. Someone else needs to lead that initiative now.

I believe cass automatically has copyright on all the graphics

Technical Support / Re: How to setup rpc on a mac?
« on: April 13, 2015, 02:24:30 am »
You need to build it yourself. It's not that hard if you were already willing to use linux CLI

https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_OSX.md

You could also run linux cli version on a vps and expose it via the internet if you reaaally don't want to build it

Sure it's possible, but I really wish we would drop the term "delegate" for anything but block producers because then it confounds the security properties of DPOS. Too late I guess, now "delegate" means "important account"

I think he made it clear he doesnt believe in same things as other core members i doubt hes working on bts.. Probably helped cause the downtrend by selling his millions of bts and every bts he earns via delegate

Haha, now pointing the finger at Toast? He made it clear he left BTS for Note. And if his delegate wasn't voted out, all pay would go to Valvaz.

Apparently the BTS holders thought this was a good idea, to keep the delegate in. Luckily Fuzzy and the awesome  +5% gang, have decided that in times of crisis creating more 100% delegates is the solution. With the help of BM we are made to believe that the extra created BTS, doesn't have a influence on the price. This is why the price is falling, realization has set in that there will never be a fiat crisis, since QE is apparently the solution.

Thanks, I hate having to repeat this stuff. Maybe it's easier to just turn off the delegates to make it clear to people who don't hang around the forum?
