Just saw this.  It'd be nice to see more media attention like this paid to BlockPay.

https://coinidol.com/bitshares-munich-to-unleash-project-stealth/

Thanks for all the hard work @kenCode, Christoph, and the whole blockpay team.

How are  the 2nd blockpay ICO tokens (2017) going to differ from the current ones trading on openledger?  Wondering if it's better to buy the current traded tokens or wait for the 2nd ICO.  Any insights?

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares 3.0 - It Is Time
« on: December 28, 2016, 05:40:03 am »
the lightest idea here is to introduce real asset to trade in DEX.
in other words, to connect Bitshares and Bitcoin via sidechain.
the topic has been discussed deeply in https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php, and seems BM has put it into to-do list.but...
I wonder is it possible for the team to develop this without BM?

I agree a sidechain between bitcoin & bitshares would help a lot.

I believe Peerplays is planning to do a sidechain into bitshares.  Maybe this could be adjusted for bitcoin without much problem.  I'd keep an eye on Rootstock as well.  They're using a federated peg with bitcoin.  This should work well w/ bitshare delegates.

I just listened to Christoph's Blockpay update on Beyond Bitcoin (E185 2016-12-09).  He mentioned a Stealth transaction would be fully invisible except for the time stamp.  It would be able to compete w/ the likes of Monero and Dash.  A full stealth transaction would cost roughly 40 cents.  His stealth talk starts around the 01:42:00 hour mark.

I wasn't aware of all this and think this is a huge development.  I thought stealth would only hide the transaction amounts.  Considering all the hype from Monero and Zcash, I would've thought everyone would be pumping BTS.  Are we going to see any of this info coming from the new Social Media Manager and Content Manager hired at Blockpay?

And how does the $0.40/txn compares to Monero or Dash?  This amount seems a bit high.

General Discussion / Re: Withdraw BitUSD to your bank account.

Thanks for this info.

This looks like a much cheaper way to transfer funds than Remittio.  As a bitshares user, why would I then want to use Remittio?  (besides having more cryptocurrency to use)

PS.  The link didn't work for me.  This one did (had to use lower case stan instead of Stan)

Keep forgetting this forum tool messes up the steemit links by putting the capital for the username.  Just replace Stan with stan.

What is Stan Larimer referring to in this steemit post? Is it yet another graphene chain? Does it compete with bitshares or steemit?

https://steemit.com/bitshares/@Stan/the-fourth-guy-fawkes-day-in-bitshares-steemit-history

Sounds like it's going to support bitshares similar to BlockPay based on these quotes:

"And all that traffic will encounter the convenient opportunity to store their value in a growing multitude of stable BitShares Smartcoins..."

"Cryptonomex has been very busy during the past year behind the scenes expanding from a developer to a system integrator."

But if they're also involving SWIFT and bank debit cards, maybe they've finally established a working relationship w/ a bank or fintech company.  If so, I would think STEALTH would need to come along.  Time to work w/ BlockPay?

If they didn't incorporate bitshares in this project, I think it would be very tough to accomplish the goal of "Who needs a bank?"

Technical Support / Re: where are all the OPEN.STEEM fees going?
« on: October 28, 2016, 04:37:10 am »
I believe smartcoin fees go towards witnesses, UIA fee fate is up to UIA issuer.
smartcoin fees go towards the committee-account and are thus held by all shareholders ..

Is this fee balance of the committee-account shown somewhere?  I looked on the cryptofresh budget stats and the accumulated fees seems always stuck at 17,391 BTS.   I would think the accumulated fees should be way higher.

There is not that much to talk about now.

The product is stable.  No new features are being added other than maybe stealth at some point.  Not really any new projects.

Personally I think steem is just a giant circle jerk of people that post shit content in the hopes of getting upvoted by a whale.  The people that are making money are usually chicks who post half naked pictures while useful post get completely buried by crap.

The whole scheme of making money to like posts on the internet is extremely shady to me.  The pump was also a giant just a manipulation of CMC.

I agree about BTS just being stable.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why there would be a lot of buyers of steem.  Yes, it has value from a social media standpoint, but has reddit made a lot of money?  How do you monetize it to grow in value?  I would think the pressure from people dumping steem after getting $ from their posts would keep the price down.  Especially the more it grows.

I like it.

So does this stealth only support transfers between accounts?  What if I have a stealth account and trade the UIAs and smartcoins, will my transactions also be private?

Yes, I mean around 200 BTC inflow in the Bitshares platform per day.

BlockPay works like that.
We have 40 Ambassadors in around 20 countries. If each Ambassador signs up 5 stores per month, we start with around 200 BlockPay installation on the market. We will start with Bitcoin meetups, bars, and restaurants who just have to download the free app and can accept Bitcoin payments at zero costs.  Business are still paying with Coinbase, Xapo etc.

200 BlockPays with let us say 1 BTC (550 USD) per day in Bitcoin sales brings in 200 BTC/day.

But how does it work?

BlockPay generates a Bitcoin QR-Code from our partner Blocktrades.us and the money will be converted through Blocktrades in BitUSD, BitEUR, BitCNY.

Bitcoin->Blocktrades->BitUSD ->?

What are the Merchant options?

a) Sell BitUSD for USD
b) Sell BitUSD for BTC to USD
c) Settle BitUSD for BTS to BTC to USD
d) Keep BitUSD and pay bills, salaries and other services from other partners ( Do you have a service for bitUSD ;) )

No matter what the business will do with their BitUSD, they will get it. And we will have a big increase in Liq on BitShares.

Would a merchant have to do the "bitUSD to USD" conversion himself by hand or can he set it up to do it automatically after so many transactions?  Doing it himself could be a deterrent to use Blockpay.

Just went to blocktrades.us and noticed a lot of the previous trading pairs are gone.  Can't even buy or trade bitshares.  Is this something temporary.  If not, what happened?
It's a temporary thing. We were having a lot of problem's processing a ton of steem buys after the price started exploding and we noticed the system was heavily loaded so we shut down all but the most active wallets temporarily to see if it would help. But it looks like the primary problem is just an issue in the steem wallet itself, so we'll be enabling the other wallets again soon).

It's good to see some of the pairs back now.  But are the missing ones like peercoin going to be back?

So just to be clear, every transaction whether a UIA or Smartcoin has a network fee going to the bitshares network?  On cryptofresh I see smartcoins such as CNY have 0% market fee.

Technical Support / where are all the OPEN.STEEM fees going?
« on: July 13, 2016, 03:13:35 am »
What's the breakdown of the fees dispersion for something like OPEN.STEEM?  Are the fees going partly to OpenLedger, delegates, and the rest burned?  I can't find any documentation on the percentage breakdowns.
