Technical Support / Bitshares 4.0 wallet? How to install?
« on: September 08, 2020, 07:46:43 pm »
I haven't been on here in a while.  I want to update to the latest bitshares wallet.  But when I go to bitshares.org it says 4.0 is released and only has a github link.  Do I get the wallet from there?  And how to install?

I also tried going to https://wallet.bitshares.org/ but get a "Application initialization issues" message.

Bitspark [closed] / Maxine Ryan, co-founder of bitspark on bloomberg

Bloomberg interviews two women in blockchain, one of which is Maxine Ryan, co-founder of bitspark.  She mentions what bitspark does.  Good interview.

General Discussion / Re: Kik might move it's token to a new blockchain

The Bitshares Blockchain Foundation may be a good contact point.  I agree Kik's needs are a good fit for bitshares.  Anyone here in the Foundation?

General Discussion / basecoin vs bitUSD as a price stable cryptocurrency
« on: October 14, 2017, 12:07:18 am »
Looks like basecoin is getting a lot of backing from crypto investors.  It's trying to create a decentralized stable cryptocurrency pegged to an instrument such as the USD, CPI,  or a basket of currencies.  Here's the whitepaper:

http://www.getbasecoin.com/basecoin_whitepaper_0_99.pdf
http://www.getbasecoin.com/

It tries to peg its currency using economic supply/demand theory touted by central banks.  It uses 3 tokens to help expand or contract the supply:  basecoin, base bonds, and base shares.

Sounds nice but how these tokens interact in the real world is another question.  It even gives drawbacks of bitshares' bitUSD;  don't agree w/ the first point.

Even if basecoin doesn't work perfectly it may get more traction than bitUSD just because of the people backing it.

General Discussion / Re: bitUSD black swan possiblity
« on: September 15, 2017, 08:54:31 pm »
I agree w/ jonny that a solution needs to be found.  Bitshares is being marketed heavily with the benefits of having a bitUSD & bitCNY as a way to park your money.  When things like Bitspark and the Hero Dollar are being presented, I guarantee 99% of the people aren't thinking in terms of a collateralized asset that can blow up.  The Hero is in the same boat as bitUSD, maybe even worse.  Because the HERO is marketing to the mainstream and advertises itself as having no counterparty risk, a black swan event will collapse it like a house of cards.

Peerplays / Re: How to get PPY sharedrop for bts users ?
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:23:55 pm »
If I don't claim PPY from my BTS but see my balance on bts-[bts_username], will I still receive the peerplays payouts from commissions/fees?

If I purchase EOS tokens on an exchange (instead of the ICO), how do I transfer them to an ethereum wallet?  Do I just use the ethereum wallet address or are there other steps?

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: July 2017 Update

It says on the steemit post:

"To those that participated in the pre-sale of NOTEs and have never claimed anything, you can wait and import your Bitcoin private keys directly into the upcoming Muse (the new Blockchain’s) interface."

Does this include those who have bitcoin private keys used to purchase AGS and thus part of the NOTE sharedrop?  If not, then I assume we have to claim them using the linked muse wallet/client?

General Discussion / Re: Video: How to create BitUSD
« on: June 16, 2017, 02:55:21 pm »
What happens when the value of the collateral falls below the required amount (ie. your BTS falls below value of USD)?  Do you lose the remaining collateral & what happens to the bitUSD?  And if I buy bitUSD from someone and he/she gets "margin called", does it affect my position?

Since the EOS token sale is over a full year, does that mean it won't be released for at LEAST a year?  Sounds like a big project.  And a lot can happen in a year in the crypto world.

Dan mentioned a couple times about releasing info to those on a mailing list.  How does one get on the mailing list?

Are there any BlockPay ambassadors in Japan?  BlockPay would be perfect there.  In fact, the Asia market looks more promising than the heavily regulated West.

Once stealth gets into bitshares, then any crypto coin can have stealth as long as it has its equivalent OPEN.<yourcoin> UIA.  I'd like to see stealth marketed & promoted this way to the crypto world.

It also makes bitshares a pseudo sidechain in that you move YOURCOIN to OPEN.yourcoin, do 3300 txn/sec on the bitshares blockchain, and then move it back out to a YOURCOIN wallet.

General Discussion / Re: Liquidity, Liquidity, Liquidity

Noticed the 24hr volume for USD is over $115,000.  Is this due to the bots?  If so, nicely done.

General Discussion / Re: begin working on bond market?
« on: March 08, 2017, 01:09:57 pm »
we'd better wait OPENLEDGER/BLOCKPAY/TRANSWISER or some other business based Bitshares success
maybe they will help Bitshares when they success.

or try to attract some VC fund.

I agree with this.

A bond market is a symptom of strong liquidity.  It doesn't create liquidity.
Building a fast car doesn't mean people will buy it.  But if there's a strong reason to get somewhere fast, then there will be demand for the car.

Blockpay is doing it right.  Stealth is being built because they NEED it for their business.  Monero has stealth hoping people will use it.  Which do you think will succeed?  I'm betting on blockpay.

Bitshares' success won't come from being like Poloniex.  It'll come from platforms building on top of bitshares.

A bond market is just another "build-it-and-they-will-come" idea.  That strategy hasn't been working.

And where is this demand for a bond market coming from?  I don't see it.  Maybe from people who want to lend for a return, but who wants to borrow?  On poloniex, demand only comes if a crypto's price is going up a lot.
