Technical Support / Re: !!! Stupid Questions Thread !!!

Nothing to do. You may want to move your balances from the Genesis block though in case your private keys from your other wallets gets compromised.

I don't see the incremental 2yr vesting BTS so far.  Is that coming in a later wallet update?

Also, to move my balances from the Genesis block, do I just need to create a new account in the wallet & transfer them to that new account?  Or should I create a whole new wallet?  Thanks for the advice.

Ok really stupid question.   I installed the BTSX client back in July and imported by PTS and BTC wallets which gave me my share in BTSX.   Now with the merger and the client and vesting etc. do I need to do anything?  Should I get additional shares?   I really have no idea what is going anymore.

I installed the latest BTS client and my original balance from BTSX is still there so that is good.   I reimported my BTC and PTS wallets thinking there were additional shares going to be added that would then vest over the next 2 years but nothing changed.   Is there some process I need to do or is everything pretty much supposed to stay the same?

I'm in the same boat, so same question for me.

DAC PLAY / Re: Official Announcement for BitShares PLAY Allocation
« on: November 12, 2014, 02:50:09 pm »
I assume that if we haven't yet converted our BTS from the Feb 28 PTS/AGS snapshot that they will still be allocated in PLAY.  Similar to DNS and VOTE.  Is this correct?

I support keeping PTS alive 100%.  I picture in the near future new DACs coming out almost every week, much like the alt coins.  So there will be much more people wanting in well after BTS has been established.  PTS would be the easiest way for new investors to climb aboard.  This would give even more validity & value to BTS.  BTS would represent the blue-chip DAC much like bitcoin is to the alts.  Plus, it would give liquidity to BTS to use it's hoard of PTS for future dev work.

I haven't heard of any other airdrop outside of PLAY.  Post here if you do.

I was thinking of dumping my PTS after the today's snapshot, but the fact that it take hours to get confirmed, it may not be worth it.  The price will likely be down so much by then.  I expect a small dump on BTSX as well.

Why are you expecting a BTSX dump? I was expecting that BTSX would become BTS seamlessly so there would be no reason to dump.

The only other thing I know of that could factor into PTS's value is alphaBar's DPOS-PTS that he's been talking about.

I expect a lot of people will dump PTS after the snapshot & use the proceeds to buy BTS(X).  This will cause BTSX to go up, but then after the buying is done, it will trickle down.  This is pure speculation on my part.

I'm going to keep my PTS & take a chance for any future PTS snapshots or possible DPOS-PTS as you mentioned.

Looks like PLAY is going to snapshot w/ PTS on Nov 5.

General Discussion / Re: BTSX Wallet Best Practices and Danger Areas
« on: September 26, 2014, 02:37:34 pm »
What's the best practice to handle importing private keys from multiple btc/pts wallets?  Is it best to create a new account for each wallet or can I import them all into one account or does it matter?

I'm using version 0.4.17 BTSX wallet.

General Discussion / Re: BTSX/Atlcoin what would you like to trade?
« on: August 25, 2014, 01:29:07 pm »
i would like to see BTSX can trade with all alt coin directly, then alt coin holder can sell all their alt coins to get the BTSX @_@

I agree this is a good first step because it's easy & the effect is immediate.  Trading bitUSD pairs is the obvious 2nd step only because it'll take a little longer.

It took 1/2 hr, but I finally got a couple connections.

I installed the latest wallet but I can't get any active connections.  I added a bunch of nodes listed back in December for the previous wallet but they don't seem to work.  Any suggestions?

In the short and medium term AGS had a devastating impact on PTS both in terms of price and in terms of broad investment appeal.

I agree w/ Adam on this point.  I've purchased more PTS than AGS because I like the liquidity part of PTS.  I figured this would cost me the 3.33x benefit for just ONE bitshares X chain.  But now that this cost applies to ALL derived chains (which could amount to many more than future DACs combined), I feel I've paid way too much.
