@underwun

I'am also impressed with Dan's achievement.

He is sharedropping the new coins to themselves and dumping the old coins on the new suckers. I invested in BTS development trough AGS so I can tell you from my own experience. First it was the Protoshares holders, then the Angelshare holders, then the Bitshares holders and now the Brownie holders. Who know what is next? IDentabit holders.

Can you imagine yourself in their position? Best of all they have two type of AGS holder.

Are you sure there are your only option? Have you thought about alternatives?

Good luck with your project.

So let me see if I understand your point.

As an AGS holder who donated after the BTS snapshot on 2/28/2014 you were not expecting any free BTS, but you got them anyway via the merger and are now getting a nice fat sharedrop through them.

(Further, you got AGS much cheaper after 2/28/2014 than those who donated before that date, so relative to your donation, you are actually getting many more AGS than pre 2/28 donors.)

You are now lobbying that you should get another 10%, so that you get double-dip credit for both your original AGS and the free BTS you got when AGS was merged into BTS.

And you want your extra 10% to be taken away from those who have been donating their time and energy to the project to help build the ecosystem for you and everybody else.

Does that about sum it up?

John,  can you tell more about the project?  thanks.

Thx alt

Based on conversations with Team Larimer I expect we will pre-announce the project to the community next week or the week after.

We are ready to announce just paying respect to other planned announcements.

Wow! Great news! Glad to see you back John. I can only imagine the regulatory dots that needed connecting in order to make your project work successfully. Good seeing you have conviction and tenacity to see this project thru. It's a beast of a task! Hope to hear some great news in the near future [emoji1]

A pioneering technology will have dozens of these things. People drift in and drift out, talk about big plans, and maybe these happen or maybe they don't. For every ten of these you hear about, you're lucky if a couple of them follow through and stick. The rest won't and this is quite typical. ALso, in defense of potential partners, this has been a pretty long haul in terms of waiting for the basic technology to be created to a point where anyone could plug into it. We may see a few of these partners resurface when there's something they can actually use.

So right, in our case we never left, we just had to step back and rework our beliefs and challenge what could be done and then commence working through the issues as to how and what...so many projects have been started based on 70% hope, 20% substance and 10% digilgence.

We believe in the tech and as big project guys we believe in Dan's unique capacity to deliver.

When you look at the cock-up at Ethereum where unguided inexperienced brilliance, creates nothing but hope and disappointment, Dan's achievement are nothing but really impressive.

i hope there will be some solid thing not just some empty plan.

Hi a couple of questions

Where do you fit, are you,

A purveyor of doom, simply crapping on everyone and everything?

Tired of prolonged hope, when nothing seems to work?

A critical, skeptical analyst, keen to focus attention on weak arguments?

If you are a purveyor of doom, simply crapping on everyone and everything
  • We will determine from your response whether this is your tag, if so we''' know to ignore you moving fwd.
If you are tired of prolonged hope, when nothing seems to work
  • We understand the disappointment, we have watched and listened to lions of tech like Andreessen or huge egos like Andreas paint pictures of potential with no evidence of plausible paths to success.
  • It's no surprise you are feeling dejected, so much was pinned on radical transformation. Transformation that might have worked but for Karpeles's ineptness and Lawsky's need for publicity.
  • If this label sits well sits well, time will tell if we lift your spirits
If you are a critical, skeptical analyst, keen to focus attention on weak arguments
  • We need you, if you are a serious analyst good at analysing deficiencies, then you are valuable and your objectivity is welcome.
Hopefully
  • You aren't a miserable fool envious of capable people  but someone that believes that we have a responsibility to see decentralised tech disintermediate greedy institutions.

Here's a face we think you'll be seeing a lot of in the coming year.  John Underwood, an accomplished Aussie entrepreneur currently based in the Philippines, spent a couple of days with us in Virginia.  He's got Big Plans to extend our technology into the remittance industry.  You are going to like it.

Back Live

Hi guys good to be back, my apologies for my silence but I promise you this duck, whilst silent, has been paddling 24/7 beneath the surface.

In summary, after considerable due diligence we came to believe that the dynamics of the market were so restrictive that unless we focused on the root cause we could neither speak nor execute with conviction.

As a consequence we went back to first principles and worked through the issues as we saw them and now after many months of back and forth on how and why, we are getting ready to reveal our plans to the community.

We have a few conversations to go over the next few days but I am pleased to say that we are close to becoming more vocal...

That's wonderful. Thank you for updating our community.

For all ye Libertarians who think we'll kill all the banks, we still need a few of them!  ;)

We will eventually buy the ones we want to keep.  :)

In reality we are wolves in sheeps clothes when it comes to banks.

We do need them for a time but if mass adoption becomes a reality they will go the way of the dinosaur

Can you give us some idea about how you plan to gain adoption in the phills?

Will you get in touch with the money changers themselves and ask them to add bitUSD to their service giving people a place to go to exchange bitUSD-Pesos-USD? Or are you trying to work with a group of local businesses in a specific town to allow them to accept bitUSD directly for goods and services?

I understand the need for some secrecy but give us some teaser's, help us create some excitement around your service.

We have relations with a receiving bank where they will be the official offramp and partner of Remitabit.

Very exciting the market their is just perfect for bitUSD for some many reasons. I think If you can pull a off ramp partnership off (for a reasonable fee) this will be huge for us and Remitabit.

Please feel free to disclose any possible fee structures for the service when ever you feel comfortable  :)

Good!   +5%
This is one of the biggest hurdles, imho. The rest will come in due time.

Thank you for taking an enthusiastic interest in our emerging presence.

We will be sharing our plan progressively over the coming weeks and months, some of it publicly and some of the confidential details to those we work more closely with.

To clarify whilst we are developing the business in the Philippines we are focused on all major receiving markets and have discovery meetings underway with known partners in South America and China.

Our business model is not obvious but to let you in on its objectives; we pay respect to the hardships endured by migrant workers, the legal framework of the receiving country and are working with banks to ensure our off-ramps are ensured.

In summary we enter this market keen to improve the lives of our constituents and are pragmatic regarding the need to work with institutions.

We are interested in learning from and working with like minded collaborators, so the door is  wide open to new friends and look forward to hooking up with like minded souls.

So please, if it suits, introduce yourselves either by pm or Skype me @ underwun and let's plan to meet up so we can share our respective enthusiasm for the future.

All the very best...John

Nice! My wife is from Philippines and thus we have a lot of friends/relatives there as well.  It seems all of them are sending $$$ back to PI.  It would be cool if they could start sending BitUSD!!  Maybe get point-of-sale systems in some of the Filipino stores that cater to the expat community here.

Anyone know if this is a plan for a new Dapp, or if it will just work within the existing system?

Holy Moly!  Small world I suppose...

I didn't know you were the CEO of Sun Microsystems' Australia when we were talking on "the wasteland" that is G+!  Now things are starting to make sense...

Maybe when you are comfortable with where your project is moving, you might be interested in having a little hangout with the community so we can all get to know you a little better?

Hi Everyone

I am really pleased to reveal our presence, here are a few things that spring to mind after my two full days visiting Dan, Stan and the team...

The guys are real, humble, confident and decisive. It is clear that we can look forward to a genuine relationship with genuine people.

There is a pragmatism and competence that results in deliverables.

The respect, patience and thinking displayed, exceeded expectations.

We will begin to post on a regular basis and explain our plans but I will end by saying we took nearly a year to get to where we are, we are experienced and execution focused and we needed to believe first and foremost in a business model combined with suitable technology that would scale and dominate the remittance space.

We are intent on building a long term business and we have a clear view on how to make it happen, consequently choosing the tech and team was a big decision as the choice must support the business for years to come.

We are really comfortable that we can work with Dan, the team and the community to realise our goals and we will be here now and in the future to jointly fight the battles and build better software in order to further the potential of the Bitshares platform.

Take and care and we look forward to working with you all, this is the beginning of a very serious business.

Remittances are an awesome use case. Can you imagine? Working a menial low-paying job for your family back home who are suffering, and then after taxes and living expenses, a wealthy private company like western union will take a huge cut of the little that remains just for transfer.

Ahem. JU's a heavyweight. BTS' value just increased.

As the Internet emerged in the mid-nineties JU partnered up with the New York City Investment Fund and enjoyed the support of David Rockefeller, Henry Kravis, Jerry Chasen, Henry (Hank) Poulson as well as Al Waxman and other notable New York icons.

With ten granted and six pending web, mobile and decentralised application patents attributed to his imagination and conceptual design, extensive experience in RAD, Agile), the Internet, UX, mobile communications and a love for commercialising innovation, JU is well suited to assessing capital requirements in the field of decentralised systems.

I really wish you the best of success with this. And I hope your model will be something that could be applied elsewhere as well, such as in Latin America. But even if you just hit the Philippines, that will be huge for all of us.

Are you also working on some on/off-ramps for BitUSD in the Philippines? Hopefully, the ones being developed by others will work anywhere in the world. But I can't help thinking that BitUSD would be a lot more popular for remittances if there were an economy for it on both sides of the pond. No doubt there are plenty of other moving pieces that need to be put into place as well.
