but the share holders seems refuse to take the 10% profit help others quit short position.
you need to know when the price continue drop, black swan will happen in these SILVER,
then these SILVER you hold will lose the value it can be.
sell your SILVER, take the 10% profit, this is what you should do, or your SILVER will not worth 1 real SILVER after the blackswan
This always struck me as a major weakness in Bitshares.
How to explain to people that their sure-thing bitUSD could one day be forcibly converted to by-then-much-less-valuable BTS ?
This is not information that average joe realizes, and if/when it happens, it's going to dramatically reduce trust in Bitshares as an own-bank platform.
Thoughts?

It is complicated. Don't attack people for not understanding it all out once. That's another problem with our community. We have had years of using this system so we understand the structure, but someone new to crypto of coming from another coin is not going to get at first.
We claim that for pro trader and not average ppl but that isn't true. Pro traders are not going to tolerate a bad interface. There are to many other options out there. I have been in Bitshares since AnglShares and this has been one of my pet peeves about the system.
I'm not saying the interface is easy to understand/intuitive for a beginner, I'm saying it's common sense to perhaps test data recovery before beginning to send large amounts of funds into a new bleeding-edge system .. it's the same with bitcoin, monero, bitshares, or anything else.
Being our own bank means taking some extra precautions, there is no one to go and ask for our funds back if we make a mistake.
Also, just to clarify, I wasn't attacking the OP. Straight to the point and a blunt opinion perhaps, but definitely not an attack, did not mean it that way at all.

There were some very serious allegations being made on steemit (top reply to the "chris, where are you post" of his, if you're interested) as well.. I thought, and indeed started, writing an article asking for clarifications on all of that, but no matter how neutral I wanted it to read, it always read like a hit piece.. so I ended up not publishing it.
I am very curious about what ken has to say about the allegations. Hopefully he can clear the situation up..
super old news, and we investigated a lot of time and text here in the forums on ken already. how did you manage to ignore this?

The memory mostly grows due to the market history and account history plugin. Those are only required for full-nodes, not for block producers, nor for p2p-consensus-nodes.
Correct, guess I should have been a bit more precise in my post, but: (mostly) big business hosting nodes doesn't help that much with decentralization.
In your reply you introduce a new term (for me), "p2p-consensus-nodes" .. how do these differ from full nodes?
Regarding the huge memory usage on full nodes, is the issue being actively addressed? Surely there is no need to keep ALL of that information available in RAM, it could be fetched from disk on demand and stay in memory for a certain amount of time based on how often it's fetched, and all such data should of course have a maximum amount of RAM (configurable by the operator) that it can use - that would keep things more predictable for operators.

There does not appear to be any incentive to run a full node (or indeed, a (lowly ranked) standby witness).
From the bits and bobs I remember, memory usage on witness/full nodes is still rising linearly, altough there was some sort of patch around to drastically reduce this?
Some of the documentation talks about the benefits of running a full node for decentralization - correct assumption that running an actual (idle) witness for the same purpose accomplishes exactly the same?
And finally, could a witness operator comment on the require hardware to run a witness/full node ?

Did UTFSE, could find nothing of use .. poked around in the GUI, functionality doesn't seem to be implemented (and as a slight tangent, it doesn't appear to be possible to read existing proposals from the wallet gui either?)
