Ok so I sent a pm to Stan, Xeroc, Ronny and KenCode. Xeroc because he's usually able to help, KenCode and Stand because they know how to pitch. I only got a reply from Xeroc and he was too busy so this was my attempt at explaining them this.

Note: BitMex exchange also wants some info.

I'll copy paste the convo below.

[21:23:01] C-CEX.com: Hello!
[21:23:07] Akado Sang: Hey, thanks for the quick reply!
[21:24:16] Akado Sang: I contacted C-CEX about the possibility of the exchange looking into joining OpenLedger, giving the advantages it offers. Was told to add this account on skype, apparently to debate over that matter maybe
[21:24:48] Akado Sang: Do you want me to copy the original email?
[21:25:06] C-CEX.com: Ok. Explain it in short and simple form please :) What is it?
[21:25:41] Akado Sang: Thanks for the opportunity. OpenLedger can be considered a Decentralized Exchange Network which runs on top of BitShares 2.0
[21:26:11] C-CEX.com: what is bitshares?
[21:26:37] Akado Sang: It's mainly known as a "coin" but it's a financial platform running on the blockchain, where smart contracts can be made
[21:27:08] Akado Sang: Can I share a few links with you with info? You might understand it better
[21:27:43] Akado Sang: https://bitshares.org/ (don't forget to check the technology section)
[21:27:55] Akado Sang: https://www.openledger.info/
[21:28:51] Akado Sang: And there's even a referral program, where anyone can earn based on each user they refer to the network. Naturally exchanges tend to be the biggest referrers and earn more from this. They earn from each account created, for life https://bitshares.org/referral-program/
[21:30:27] C-CEX.com: oh, looks like ethereum
[21:30:28] Akado Sang: I hope this is not too overwhelming. If I may I will mention a few advantages:
- Decentralization. This means the exchange cannot be taken down or hacked like Gox.
- Transparency. Can be audited at all times. Giving it's costumers confidence about the platform they're using
- Shared Order Books. With other exchanges using the same platform, which means more market depth and liquidity
[21:31:26] Akado Sang: Yes! If we could compare both, I'd say Ethereum is like Android and BitShares like Apple. Not in the "superior" way. It's just that with Ethereum you can do more stuff. However with BitShares you can do fewer stuff, but more optimized and scalable with high performance :)
[21:32:48] C-CEX.com: I understand words, but I don't understand a sense
[21:32:54] C-CEX.com: Can you explain simplier?
[21:33:59] C-CEX.com: with high performance :)That I like:)
[21:35:21] Akado Sang: For example, BitShares might be more limited on some fields, meaning, it "might" not be as versatile for some stuff. But scales better and has an overall better performance. Imagine both like programming languages! Some might be harder to use/learn but are faster and have better performance. Others might allow you to program more stuff more easily but don't have such a good performance!
[21:35:48] Akado Sang: Well, if you're interested in performance you might want to check this page! https://bitshares.org/technology/industrial-performance-and-scalability/
[21:35:54] C-CEX.com: Ok. I see. but what it can do for c-cex?
[21:35:59] C-CEX.com: how it can be used?
[21:37:58] Akado Sang: Basically what we're trying to do is get more exchanges to join our network. The question you might want to know is, how does C-CEX benefit right? You get to provide a better service to your costumers.
Let's assume C-CEX has joined the network and now runs on the BitShares platform! I'll try to summarize the advantages.
[21:38:33] C-CEX.com: What "join the network" mean?
[21:39:01] Akado Sang: Join OpenLedger :) which aims to be a Decentralized Exchange Network. Meaning multiple exchanges operating on the BitShares Exchange
[21:39:12] Akado Sang: *means joinning OpenLedger
[21:39:26] Akado Sang: I'll try to summarize the advantages and how your business can profit from this
[21:40:04] C-CEX.com: Does that mean that I have to keep user coins balance in bitshares?
[21:41:10] Akado Sang: Well no, they keep their coins themselves! For example, as an exchange, what you give users to trade (or what most of the exchanges do) are IOUs right? It's a token representing for example a Bitcoin while in fact you hold the bitcoins on your hot/cold wallet
[21:41:57] C-CEX.com: I don't get your point at all
[21:42:03] C-CEX.com: Looks like non-sense
[21:42:12] C-CEX.com: I don't understand what are you trying to offer
[21:42:25] Akado Sang: Ok let me finish please
[21:44:23] Akado Sang: Basically all the assets of the user's would be held on the blockchain. Safe from hackers because each user would have the private keys for their own balances. Meaning C-CEX couldn't be hacked and loose costumer funds.
[21:45:03] Akado Sang: Plus they would get to use the features provided by BitShares Blockchain like multi sig, 2fA which is currently being worked on, Prediction Markets, Bond Markets, etc
[21:45:15] Akado Sang: You would provide a safer and more transparent service
[21:45:41] Akado Sang: and you would have Shared Order Books. This would increase market depth and liquidity which is what the traders seek in order to trade
[21:46:15] C-CEX.com: so they can redeem their funds without exchange?
[21:47:17] C-CEX.com: sorry, I still don't get how it works
[21:47:30] C-CEX.com: You must be not aware about how normal exchange work.
[21:47:42] C-CEX.com: This is completely incompatible with what you are talking about
[21:48:18] Akado Sang: What do you mean redeem funds? can you be more specific when you say "incompatible"?
[21:49:05] C-CEX.com: Ok. Users deposit / trade / withdraw.
[21:49:08] C-CEX.com: Let's say DOGE.
[21:49:15] C-CEX.com: How it will work with your platform?
[21:50:44] Akado Sang: Essetially C-CEX would act more like a bridge. I want to deposit DOGE on my C-CEX account. I send DOGE to your deposit address and in exchange, you credit my account with the respective amount of C-CEX.DOGE. Which could be traded against many other assets and exchanges assets AND more importantly, market pegged assets like USD and EUR to hedge against volatility. I forgot to mention that
[21:51:14] Akado Sang: Instead of the IOUs being on your database, they would be secured on the blockchain
[21:51:33] Akado Sang: allowing people to trade them against many other assets.
[21:52:18] Akado Sang: We currently have OPENBTC as OpenLedger's BTC. Imagine you join and other 3 more exchanges join. All of them trading OPENBTC. You get a shared order book with more market depth and liquidity which all traders seek
[21:52:36] Akado Sang: or you can just create your custom asset too if you prefer
[21:53:43] Akado Sang: and you also profit from each account via https://bitshares.org/referral-program/
[21:53:55] C-CEX.com: I still can't understand how it works
[21:54:05] C-CEX.com: I don't want to send users elsewhere
[21:54:29] Akado Sang: You won't send user's elsewhere, you still have your own users, they still use your exchange. Imagine OpenLedger being the backend while your C-CEX website being the front end
[21:54:51] C-CEX.com: how do they withdraw?
[21:55:41] Akado Sang: Through you or any other fiat on/off ramp connected to the network. But if they're using your exchange website, most likely they will withdraw through you, only if you allow other bridges on your site
[21:56:03] Akado Sang: I'll send you an instant exchange working with us, hopefully you can see how it works https://metaexchange.info/
[21:56:11] C-CEX.com: then what's the difference?
[21:56:18] C-CEX.com: Deposit on me, trade on me, withdraw on me...
[21:57:08] Akado Sang: While they trade and held the funds on your exchange, the assets representing their funds, are secured by the blockchain. Not to mention there are also smartcoins pegged to the price of EUR, USD, CNY to hedge against volatility.
[21:57:49] Akado Sang: You could also provide them with other features we are developing like the ones on the "Technology" section. Multi signature, Bond Markets, Prediction Markets, etc
[21:58:07] C-CEX.com: they will withdraw through youSo I will have to maintain the same doge wallet. hot and cold.
[21:58:09] C-CEX.com: no difference
[21:59:53] Akado Sang: Ok. This is my fault I'm not being able to make you understand.. Would you mind if I have a dev come here in a few days and explain it better? And I'm really sorry for taking your time.
[22:01:01] Akado Sang: I just can't explain it any better. I'm don't really possess the technical knowledge. I'm just trying to get in contact with the exchanges. Do you mind me having the devs adding you do explain it better? If you can spare the time please
[22:01:10] C-CEX.com: Yes, please.
[22:01:14] Akado Sang: Thank you very much. Thanks for taking the time.
[22:01:26] C-CEX.com: I need 1. 2. 3.
[22:01:28] C-CEX.com: how it works
[22:01:32] C-CEX.com: step by step
[22:01:43] C-CEX.com: All you say is not compatible with how real exchange work.
[22:01:53] Akado Sang: Okay. Mind if I copy/paste this convo on our forum? So it's easier to understand?
[22:02:01] C-CEX.com: Real exchange has to have wallets running online to make deposits/withdrawals possible.
[22:02:12] C-CEX.com: sure
[22:02:46] Akado Sang: Okay. Once again, thank you for your time and the opportunity. We'll be in touch :) it was a pleasure.
[22:03:13] C-CEX.com: thanks.

Luckily, he was kind enough to give me another chance! I really couldn't explain his last question about how he still needs a hot/cold wallet to deposit/withdraw coins so that doesn't change anything. I mentioned previously he would act as a bridge.. but honestly that question caught me off guard and I can't really explain it. I tried to emphasize the advantages. Maybe I didn't do it simple enough.

At least i had some initiative but I admit I'm not the best explaining this. I did the best I could. Now I think he's right. I might not be the best person to explain but if I couldn't explain and he couldn't understand, maybe it isn't so simple as it should be? We don't have a 1, 2 ,3 step guide on how it would work, etc. Well, we learn with our mistakes.

Atm I feel like that guy who screws up with the girls he likes :P but I tried, I'm at ease.

Pitch men @Stan and @kenCode please advise. I know you're really at ease explaining and pitching stuff. So, what did I do wrong, what could I have done better?
@ccedk Ronny did I miss anything? Would you have handled it differently?

General Discussion / How to take the most out of STEALTH
« on: January 08, 2016, 05:45:50 pm »
Since we're having STEALTH implemented, whether some agree or not, we should get the most out of it. What other features or stuff we could implement on blockchain that benefit the most from it?

The only one I can think of that makes more sense might be gambling.
Other one would be markets, but that's what bitAssets are for, we don't need to implement one here.

Maybe mixers? They seem to make a good amount of money. A service like metaexchange could use STEALTH to mix other's coins? Of course there might be some legal issues with that but at the same time there might always be someone willing to take the risk. Just brainstorming here on anything that could benefit from STEALTH

Any other ideas?

General Discussion / Decentralized Exchanges vs Centralized Exchanges
« on: January 06, 2016, 12:13:06 am »
Hey guys I would like you to share and discuss the pros and cons of both so that I could organize that info to complement with my list of exchange issues

Decentralized:
- Safety, can't be hacked / funds stolen
- Transparency no shady activities from the exchanges as everyone can audit them through the blockchain
- Shared Order Books which can increase market depth and liquidity
- Can act as a Network of Exchanges
- Potential for having the best features. Since they can be implemented at the blockchain level, if Bond Markets are allowed on chain, every Exchange running on that chain has always the best tech. It only takes someone to develop it.

Centralized:
- You can bridge crypto/fiat and vice versa

Still, you can place a centralized service running on top of the DEX. Can you give me more pros and cons of both and develop more on this please?
What about competition? How can they compete? As I mentioned imagine Prediction/Bond Markets are implemented, every exchange has that same feature. This means exchanges can't differentiate from each other and stay more competitive, could they? If so, how? I think only through their gateway to fiat really.... What more can 1 exchange offer that other can't, if features are implemented at blockchain level? On the other side, if a feature isn't on chain and is done by a 3rd party, the risk to fail and compromise the costumer is higher. How can we solve this?
Could one exchange develop one feature imagine through FBAs and then sell it to other exchanges for profit later on? But how could that original exchange keep the tech only for itself? How would the access to that feature be restricted?

Imagine we have Exchange A and B running on top of OpenLedger. One funds Prediction Markets so it's only their right to profit from it. How does it restrict the usage for their own users? Can that be done if each exchange has a different wallet for example? While still being part of OpenLedger?

So exchange A would have its costum wallet with Prediction Markets built in the GUI so users could access it. Exchange B would also have its own custom wallet but without Prediction Markets. Still, what keeps exchange B from paying to a 3rd party for PM integration on their own wallet? The problem here is if exchange A was the original one funding the development of PM technology on chain first. Exchange B would take advantage paying only a fraction of the cost. Can that be done via FBAs? If so, how?

Any other pros/cons you know of?

Would really appreciate some help with this please

General Discussion / What's up with BANX
« on: January 05, 2016, 07:50:55 pm »
http://coinjournal.net/banx-three-months-later-no-bitshares-integration-less-than-1-sold-network-is-down/

Any updates? Didn't remmitio get an award or something at Web Summit? What about BANX? A new year's update would be nice...

From the beginning it was a project with some lack of trust and this apparent lack of communication doesn't make it any better. Unless they've shared something I'm not aware of

65
So the main problem it seems is we have low liquidity and our bitAssets might not have the best peg. We are all interested in getting more liquidity, but some can't, either because they don't know how to make or run bots or because they don't have enough funds, so why not do the following.

Get a list of every trustworthy member running a bot
- @maqifrnswa
- @alt
- @xeroc
- @iHashFury
- @Riverhead
- @kenCode

I dont know if all have their own bots but if I remember correctly you all showed interest in providing liquidity right? So if each one of you has a bot there would already be 6 different ones.

Now if each member donated a few BTS for each or even only one bot and they would be active on bitUSD/BTS market, we would help tighten the peg. With time liquidity would naturally flow there since it's a chicken and egg problem and then we could slowly remove and redirect liquidity to other market like bitBTC/BTS and so on.

We could get the community to help by donating or get it from the pool which I doubt I think some might disagree. In the end I think that a community effort could help with this and it's up to us to have some initiative. This because I would like to help but I don't think I have the skills to manage a bot. This way anyone can help.

If we had 1 million BTS, even if distributed by 4 - 6 bots, each with 250k-166k per each all acting on the same market with the objective of providing liquidity and at least not loosing money and hold that for a couple months, more people would end up joining naturally. Then we could slowly redirect that and move on to other markets and get the DEX the liquidity it needs. It's a slow process but we need to start somewhere right?

We could start with 1M or even half of that, once it reaches for example 2M we could slowly move on to other market. Step by step, if everything goes right, who knows in 1 year what this could achieve.

______

I have one question, could the bots end up eating each other, say, since they would be on the same market, some would win and some would loose trades. This could lead to some getting higher returns and others loosing the BTS needed to provide the liquidity centralizing that on fewer ones, which can increase the risk in case something bad happens right? What if the bot owners, for the purpose of this objective, could reach a gentleman's agreement and if there is a big disparity in the end, they all return the funds in excess to the ones who lost? The objective here would be more focused in providing liquidity than necessarily profit. Just not loosing money to other people would be good enough since we could maintain operations.

Unless bot owners decide to compete, let people lend them BTS and then pay back a piece of the gains? That's also an option, although getting liquidity first is more important imo.

General Discussion / Can a Bitcoin Mixer be built in BitShares?
« on: December 29, 2015, 01:12:42 am »
Ok just had this random idea, which, assuming it's feasible could be one of the first big apps bringing in money for BitShares. The main reason becasue the end users don't even need to know they're using BitShares or ever need to use BitShares.

Basically something like MetaExchange (this could even be a feature of theirs) that let's you send a BTC to a BTC address that you would place in a memo. Then those X btc you send would be converted to BitShares2.0 BTC, either the bitAsset or the service's BTC.UIA like METABTC or OPENBTC.

Then this would automatically be sent via STEALTH to another throwaway account. That account would then convert it to BTC just the same way as if I'd send META.BTC to metaexchange and they would send me the BTC to my real bitcoin wallet.

Time correlation could still be done, maybe add a parameter in the memo that would define the time delay with which the BTC would be converted and sent? Or have them hop through multiple BTS addresses with STEALTH which I dont really know if it's necessary.

Another way would be to have any BTC sent be automatically divided in equal amount of chuncks so for example all that could be seen out of it once it reaches the bitcoin blockchain would be outputs of 0.1 or 0.3 btc for example

If done this could actually be a service provided by BitShares FOR bitcoin or any other community and end users wouldn't even have to go through the process of acquiring BTS and all of those troublesome steps. It would work just like metaexchange does.

Is this feasible once STEALTH is implemented?

General Discussion / Q1 2016 Expectations for BitShares
« on: December 27, 2015, 05:48:26 pm »
Not speaking in terms of price, but in terms of features, development, infrastructure, etc

Stuff that is planned to happen (pls help me complete this list)
- METAFEES buybacks
- OBITS buybacks
- UI/UX improvement
- New mobile Wallet and POS system
- Moonstone Wallet
add more projects in the works here pls!

Stuff we think should be done / we'd like to see done. Realistically could happen.
- BitCash
- Video tutorials on how to use OpenLedger on their YouTube channel
- Updates and good news regarding the bank that CNX was in contact with
- STEALTH implemented
- 2FA implemented
- NEXUS (Rune's and Toast's company) working for the BitShares blockchain
- 1 or 2 more partners/services using BitShares
- we currently seem to have ~150 transfer operations per day. Would like to see it grow to ~250/300 by the end of Q1 (http://cryptofresh.com/charts see transfer only chart)
- better API so we have more bots working!
- according to http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares/#markets if you check only the BitShares Asset Exchange sources, we have a volume of ~$2000. I think with bots we could get ~$3000-$5000 average daily volume

Stuff we'd like to see done but it's not a realistic expectation / has high probabilities of not happening
- Bond Markets implementation
- Prediction Markets implementation
- Having services using actual bitAssets for shared order books instead of UIAs
- more than 5 new partners/services using BitShares
- one known exchange moving to the BitShares chain in order to provide better services
- CCEDK fully moving to BitShares chain (having the site being the front end and running on OpenLedger). This includes all coins trader on CCEDK
- more than ~300 transfer operations per day
- more than $7000 average daily volume
- 2 or more new companies other than CNX developing BitShares
- Updates and hopefully good news regarding Overstock and BitShares

This is my personal list. I'm probably missing some more important stuff. Please share your expectations!

General Discussion / Could BitShares use something like xbtfreelancer?
« on: December 21, 2015, 07:35:48 pm »
https://www.xbtfreelancer.com/index.php

Basically people search for work and get paid in bitcoins and projects that need people offer them work to do.

Could this be done with BitShares?

Assume the worker only wants to get paid in bitcoin.

A member with good enough reputation or a few of them sharing an account with multisig would make a proposal that would get approved. Once it's approved.
That member/those members would post the work that needs to be done on the site and also a brief resume of how BItShares can pay for its own development because payment could take a bit I guess.

Once a worker is found, he's hired to do the job and the multisig account would receive the payment in BitShares. Then those would need to be converted to bitcoin.

There's the risk of BitShares devaluation while the work is done because the expected payment from the network might not be enough now. So to prevent this maybe a little bit would be set aside in case it's needed. If it's not, those BitShares get burnt and the whole community can see that on the blockchain.

Other thing is timing of how stuff happens:
We would either find a worker and then get the proposal approved next which may take a while..
Or the proposal is not approved and then there's no money to pay the worker
Or the proposal needs to be approved first and those BitShares would sit on the multisig account. Also on the proposal one thing would be stipulated, something like: After this worker is approved, if member X/Y (the ones holding the multisig account) don't find a worker to do the job, these shares will be burnt. And then they burn the shares and the whole community can see it on the blockchain.

Would this be worth it? Not many people are familiar with BitShares code but I guess it's a matter of time. If someone is truly interested they will see the code first and know if they're ready or not to take the job. Only then, once it's done does that person get paid. Also public records of the addresses involved including the worker's bitcoin address would need to be public so the community isn't falsely accused of not paying for the job done, etc.

Is this worth all the trouble? Just curious, since it could be a new source of people to work on some stuff

General Discussion / Coinbase - Lending for Marging Trading?
« on: December 17, 2015, 12:11:19 am »
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3x3wky/coinbase_is_looking_at_offering_peer_to_peer_btc/

Isn't that like a Bond Market?

Being centralized they might have things more facilitated than us, however I'm sure if they can ensure some kind of insurance policy via identity verification or something, that it might turn quite profitable for them as I'm sure there are quite a lot of people with Bitcoin sitting around doing nothing.

I'd say we could learn from this but given they are centralized and will most likely use Identity as a mean of insurance, it's likely what we could learn from them isn't going to be that useful as both system would work in a different way and they have the "advantage" of being centralized.

Ambicionamos apoiar e

Other Languages / [Portugues] Uma Conversa Com Ronny Boesing, CEO de CCEDK
« on: December 08, 2015, 10:21:56 pm »

O Primeiro Envolvimento Com Moedas Digitais

I don't exactly know how they escrow works, however I got interested simply because of this

Escrow history provides a forge-proof, implicit method of building reputation on the Syscoin network.

Since reputation systems have been talked about in the past but we never came up with a solution that doesn't require KYC stuff.

Reputation systems could open the door to a whole number of other things. We still have lots of stuff to do first, but would like to know what you think about this and how we could use it.
