General Discussion / Re: Maker sharedrop on the BitShares community
« on: August 11, 2015, 03:22:39 pm »
I would even go as far as stating that brownie.pts holders are most active in the community

You can't claim that, there will be active members whom BM doesn't appreciate.
......

What is EVM?

I have brownies and I strongly disagree that they should be a sharedrop target for anyone except bytemaster or crptonomex... They are given out at the discretion of one person who has already admitted that he is too busy to properly oversee who/how many should be given out.  They are mostly given out for tasks that bytemaster deems important... there is plenty of work being done by other people that is beneficial to bitshares that isn't necessarily sanctioned or promoted by Dan.

Agreed. Also, brownies are actively traded on BTS right now. Wouldn't be hard for someone that BM doesn't like/approve of with deep pockets to just buy a whole bunch. And be super-duper "appreciated". lol.

As an aside, I'm not sure what to make of ETH right now. I keep hearing things like the project could take many more years to reach a stable status, dev money seems to be running out, etc. But we have guys like Toast and Rune singing its praises, and people in general seem to just be super hyped and positive about the whole project.

Basically, I guess the question is -- should I be invested in ETH instead? Just not feeling the BTS love lately, from any angle. Maybe it's just the hype of something new and shiny lol. Feels too quiet lately.

Cant read a thing on that board ... too bad [emoji14]
yea i tried to zoom in but no chance  :'(

Just use that tech they're always using on CSI. You know, the one that scans a crappy image and magically increases the resolution so you can see who the bad guy was.  8)

As to the announcement...hmm...I kind of feel like we already knew this was in the pipeline. Good way for the devs to make more money, I guess. Hopefully we can see that money make its way back into BTS somehow.

IDentabit / Re: John Underwood Visit
« on: August 05, 2015, 10:12:55 am »
Here's a face we think you'll be seeing a lot of in the coming year.  John Underwood, an accomplished Aussie entrepreneur currently based in the Philippines, spent a couple of days with us in Virginia.  He's got Big Plans to extend our technology into the remittance industry.  You are going to like it.

Back Live

Hi guys good to be back, my apologies for my silence but I promise you this duck, whilst silent, has been paddling 24/7 beneath the surface.

In summary, after considerable due diligence we came to believe that the dynamics of the market were so restrictive that unless we focused on the root cause we could neither speak nor execute with conviction.

As a consequence we went back to first principles and worked through the issues as we saw them and now after many months of back and forth on how and why, we are getting ready to reveal our plans to the community.

We have a few conversations to go over the next few days but I am pleased to say that we are close to becoming more vocal...

Take care and maybe grab a seat, life is too short to bet on a hope

Underwun

Wow, nice. I thought for sure you guys just kind of evaporated away after not hearing anything all this time. Glad to see I was wrong. Can't wait to see what you have in store.

 +5% and good luck!

General Discussion / Re: Why is Litecoin going insane?

Now theyre pumping Dash,

Lol BTS is practically the only alt left without a good pump...process of elimination...? Hah.

-snip-

There you go empirical.  It was all false.  No real rationale except lit coin was a pump n dump

I have to agree with this. Too often we all want to put a reason behind every price jump and drop, but in the end it's all just smoke and mirrors, big players playing on smaller players' hypes/fears and everyone just going all out nutso looking to make a profit any way they can. It's literally chaos in its purest, most free-market form. Truly a beautiful sight to behold.

Until we can address every concern about what happened 2 years ago, we do not feel confident giving you our 100,000 TPS smartchain.  So please, sit back and wait longer while we continue to address where the AGS funds went (satoshi for satoshi), and when newmine has finally accepted that nobody can change the past, then, and only then, will you get to play with our new invention.  Why are you in such a hurry for Dan to build your new 2.0 blockchain anyway?  Newmine is in total control of the release date.  Ask him when he is going to stop wasting Dan's precious concentration time with topics that have no bearing on the 2.0 release.

My thoughts exactly. What a ridiculous waste of time.

You have to realize by now that nothing you say will ever satisfy newmine, right BM? I can just see him now, thinking of new ways to push your buttons while jerking off to your emotional, long-winded post in that other thread. Disgusting.  ::)

General Discussion / Re: What's a Whale?
« on: June 20, 2015, 02:02:40 pm »
Hopefully someday we can get really really profitable and actually get back down to 2 bil shares. Then I'll have 0.01% and be a "whale" (at least in xeroc's eyes).  :D

I'm just hoping one day bts surpasses bitcoins all time high of approximately 12 billion market cap. Anyone think that is feasible in the next few years?  I look forward to that day so I can finally walk out of my day job and not have to go back the next morning...

Anyway I think a whale should be classified by having the ability to move price say 5-10% on liquidation

It's not feasible.. its inevitable.

12 bil would make me a millionaire. If it's "inevitable" I might as well quit my job now and wait for that BTS paycheck to come in the mail.  :P

Looks like it stopped. Final name registered about 35 minutes ago: confitures.

I was beginning to wonder if it was some kind of attack myself...

Apparently "confitures" is another word for "fruit preserves":

Had to look that one up.

Why not SmartMoney? Is there a legal issue with using "money" ?

Meh. Just doesn't sound...sexy enough.

But how are so many accounts being produced at once? Seems like some kind of program is creating them automatically. Is that possible?

Every 10 seconds someone is mass producing account names using random-as-all-hell words from the dictionary. Even now it's continuing. Here's a list of the most recent batch:

Can't believe the price is just following the LTC pump now. Shows you how unimportant news is in the crypto world. Heh.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Short Order Refactoring

Yup, I always had trouble figuring out what exactly the hell was happening when a short was opened, etc. I mean I had a general idea, but the way it was presented was intimidating for newbie traders. I'll support anything to make it less intimidating/confusing to the noggin.

Technical Support / Re: Interest/Yield

I wish, I was banking on that  +5% APR to give me comfortable retirement payments (when the time to cash out of BTS comes along)...sigh.

Not sure how safe the bond system will be? If I remember hearing right a huge liability risk is put on the lender, not the borrower...doesn't sound very comfortable.

could we please not reply to the trolls on the thread? otherwise it will turn into a joke. If they don't get a reply they will eventually get tired and stop doing it.

This. The petty squabbling looks ridiculous. Just ignore it and they will eventually go away. Seemed to work on the communist thread after a while, hah.
