General Discussion / Re: Yunbi's two delegates back at the top
« on: March 18, 2015, 05:46:02 pm »
I guess this begs a good question.. at what point do 'dead' delegates get trimmed from the network?

There are parameters to registering them, but are there any parameters to removing them? Or possibly some kind of countdown for which at a certain time of being offline they are just removed from the network? I would suggest something like 1 month perhaps.

I think the vote counts are going up because of everyone moving their BTS out of the exchanges.

Whoever voted voted for blackwavelabs too.  It doesn't seem to be a very well informed vote. :s

Ok thats interesting.. maybe this is someone testing the vote system to see what happens next.

Can see it unfold above.. and the media version here:

Another black eye for Bitcoin.

Another reason for all of them to take a second look at BitShares.

Anybody here lose their escrow in this?

It's funny how we have these monumental moments literally a week after some thread pops up with people crying over one thing or another and about how they are bailing.

Not to mention 0.7 now out!

Things are only going to get hotter! :)

General Discussion / Re: [Rough Idea] Introduce 5% delegate rotation
« on: March 18, 2015, 04:35:51 am »
I see a lot of problems with this.. and agree with Ander that it is unnecessary.

This is a financial system.. it would certainly lower my trust level of the network to know that 'random' delegates who could potentially be malicious to the network can just be added in. No need to worry about getting votes.. just setup a bunch of dummy delegates with the malicious attacks in wait and just let it roll. No accountability.. no real way to trace who might have done it... yeah.. this idea just keeps getting more horrible the more I think about it.

As the market cap increases to substantial levels.. so too is the level of trustworthiness the delegates will have to demonstrate to the public for maintaining a voted position. Only the really serious ones  that bring enough to the community to gain the votes are going to have entry into that arena and rightly so.

Instead of allowing for random delegates.. there should be more parameters for signals that vote in delegates... that can be further developed but not till later.. we got what we need for now.

There is also Metaexchange.info. As volume ramps up so will their depth.

It's great but it's not really an exchange, it's a bridge. Basically you can only place market orders. You can't place orders at particular prices into the order book.

Also, I think the market makers should all be competing with their bots on a neutral platform (the DEX). The bridge would still want to keep some floating funds to instantaneously find the best liquidity path from the source asset to the target asset (that is the convenient service the bridge provides to users IMO), but I think the serious market makers should be decoupled from any bridge and operating for profit by themselves on the neutral DEX. And traders wouldn't be using a bridge, they would place their own orders directly on the exchange.

I would love to see this.

If there is a place to check referers?

https://wallet.bitshares.org/?r=datasecuritynode

https://faucet.bitshares.org/refscoreboard

Tried that.. and it's showing the one registration today as no ref .. so that was the account I created.

Also while going through faucet I tried to login with my facebook but it kept saying I had to confirm my email.. nothing appeared.. so I tried twitter and that prompted for an email and worked. Has anybody else been successful signing up with Facebook?

When can we expect the refer option to work for the wallet?

Also curious what action has to happen exactly for the refer to be counted?

+5% .. one question.. does the refer code work for referring people to the web wallet?

yes, any links from Bitshares.org....at least that is my understanding?

The webwallet is a subdomain though.. and likely runs off a completely different server system.. so I am wondering about this. Maybe one of the admins can weigh in on it.

The orange menu colours are a bit odd with the blue.

I personally like the animated background... perhaps have it only run once instead of on a loop.. so people first come and go wow.. then after maybe 15 seconds it just goes static. Perhaps a compromise.

The colour contrast though of the orange menu like I said.. I understand it comes from the logo.. but it can be something else I think.. a grey scale might look more professional

I don't know if we really want to increase the cost by that much.

I think having them comparable to the cost of a domain name is reasonable.. now they are even less than that... but if market cap increases then the cost will go up with it.

Remember that assets (that are used) increase volume overall in bitshares and so there is ongoing benefit.

I do agree that something better could be done to prevent name hording.
