I think we are on the verge of a rally in BTS, in satoshi terms.
I'm not predicting a return to 300 or anything, but I think we need to at lesat retrace part of the drop and go up a few hundred sats.

On a bunch of different timeframes at once, BTS is ready to give both MACD and moving average buy signals.

The 1300 level is in the area of all time lows and generally any price in the 1600 or below range has been a safe buy long term.  Especially anything under 1400.

BTC might need to take a breather for a few days, its been going up nonstop, so BTS might mostly stay flat in dollar terms while rising against BTC or something.  But who knows.

BTS 1 day MACD is turning green if we can hold in the 1300s.

The last time 1 day MACD turned green was Sept 4, and then we shot up the next day (with news of course).  Buying this MACD buy signal around 1500 and selling when it turned to a MACD sell signal in the 2500s on Sept 29 wouldve been great.

A similar thing occurred in the MAY rally.

There was also a MACD daily buy signal in July but it failed.

Its possible that this MACD buy isgnal, if we hold here, will give us a nice rally, though f course its not a guarantee.

Random Discussion / Re: Follow my vote selling BTS?
« on: October 28, 2015, 05:23:32 pm »
So with the new openly visible system, any time any account with a recognizable name sells any BTS, we are going to have a thread about it suggesting they have abandoned bitshares?

Where is the privacy?  It feels like we are Identbit now.

Thanks to follow my vote for the reply.  I'm glad you are funding some interesting projects and marketing campaigns.  It would be nice if we had money to do these things without selling BTS at low prices but I guess we dont.

What's the all time low for Bitshares?

afaik, you are here.

current price is 1259 satoshi. We are in uncharted territory. Right now at poloniex there are 40 million bts in the sell column. @1259 that's a little over 500 btc. In the buy column? 178 btc. Fodder for bears.

Yeah, so right when things were looking hopeless it was the bottom wasnt it?
And whenever we are happy and excited its near the top...

While this does mean something, you must also understand that it is heavily manipulated by whales to get the price to move where they want.

Whenever a whale wants the price to rise into his sell he adds a 100 btc buy wall lower down to make the buy support look good, and when he wants to buy more he adds a 5M bts sell wall higher up and pulls away most of the buy orders to make this look terrible.

Usually when the disparity hits extremes, its at a top or bottom and then it reverses and goes the other way.

As soon as a whale gets an order filled that he wanted filled, he reverses his walls so that it looks the opposite of the way it did before.  If you buy and sell only based on the buy support and amount available for sale, you are just asking to get manipulated by these whales.

Of course, I am not saying that the buy support amount is meaningless, it does mean something.

Unfilled orders for annual and basic members should also be much lower.

0.1 to 1 BTS for unfilled order and 10-20 BTS for filled order imo.

But which one we choose if we cannot differentiate these?

I think its really important that we are able to differentiate them.

Technical Support / I think we need to fix the fee structure for trading
« on: October 22, 2015, 07:54:33 pm »
People are discussing this polo and I agree with the traders (who by the way, are one of our main target markets):

* The fee to place a trade needs to be extremely low.  Just enough to prevent spam.
* The fee to cancel an order should be 0.
* The fee upon the EXECUTION of an order should be "high" (aka, current levels).

Traders want to be able to place an order but be able to move it later, and not lose to a fee.  At polo or other sites I can place and remove an order for no fee at all.  Our fee for this should be just enough to prevent spam, like 1 BTS or even .1 BTS.

When an order executes, the fee should be extracted then.  (If it executes in pieces, its important that it is only paid one time in total).

This is what we need to get traders on board.  We need the fee to mostly be paid at execution, not when placing or moving an order!  Traders dont want to risk paying a fee for an order that doesnt happen.

Please consider this.  I think we should do the following:
* Modify the fees as described above.
* Post something explaining the change and telling traders "we listened to your feedback and are changing things to meet your needs".

Note that I am not advocating low fees, I am simply advocating not charging people for non-executed/cancelled orders, any more than necessary to prevent spam.

What would need to be done in order to implement this?

Apparently from reading the thread, that proposal does nothing?

On the contrary. Every day this worker stays elected with more votes than the 'burning worker', what  Empirical said becomes more true.

Constantly re-funding the reserve fund makes me worry people will revalue BTS as definitely having closer to 3.7 Billion shares in the future vs. now thinking it will have 2.5 Billion or less.

Is that what this worked does?  That sounds like the worst idea ever.

Lets all remove votes from this worker and also remove votes from anyone voting for this worker.

This worker will have very good uses in the future, as it will be the eliminator of half ass proposals from him down vote-wise, that the people do not want to be paid.

But for it to work right now, for anything else but the negative perception we need:

1. A burning worker - it does not have to be huge - 10K seems enough, imo.
2.  BM needs to vote for the burning worker with 100% of his stake and for the recycling worker with 90% of his stake.
3. We generally should follow similar voting pattern for those 2, and vote "Yes" for all other workers we do like to be paid, of course.

That makes a lot of sense.  I like it.

So, we need the recycling worker to prevent random people's worker proposals from getting paid?

General Discussion / Re: Lowering Transfer Fees
« on: October 21, 2015, 10:16:12 pm »
Imo, poloniex should become a lifetime member.

If they do, they could start charging their customers 5 BTS to withdraw instead of 20, or whatever it is.

poloniex is a lifetime member I think. The account poloniexwallet is anyway.

So they are just making 16 bts every time they charge their customers 20 for a transfer?
