Another week gone without announcement.  We need to be better at filtering fraud talk and actionable talk.  Just had to point out.

You mean yet another project that was talked up big time that couldn't even stand upright out of the gates?  Another one bites the dust.  How many more before the red curtains close?

Did BM really say in the mumble session that a testnet could come as soon as today?

General Discussion / Re: Non-Bitcoinian Geometry

Non-Bitcoinian Geometry

If we sacrifice broad token distributions, we can gain support from powerful investors and partners who are motivated by owning a bigger than average stake.

I know, I know.  “To be a valid currency, you need to have a wide distribution with no central concentrations of wealth or power.” But not every block chain has to be an unbacked currency.  We seem to be OK with stadium builders having the rights to sell tickets to every seat. If you are going to back a ticket with a seat, why can’t you back a token with an asset?  And why should you have to give those token-based rights to your assets away for free?

Stop!  Red Flags!  Are you saying that we should do away with the current bitshares distribution and make one that accommodates large investors?  So give BTS owners only 20% in the new stake and 80% for the new chain to new partners? This was my greatest fear wit cryptomex.

This might work just like Flat Earth Theory stopped most of mankind from discovering the New World.

Just to correct, no one (with any education) believed the earth was flat, that myth was made up after the fact to ridicule the church.

Actually, they had correctly calculated the circumference of the earth, and everyone thought Columbus would run out of supplies 1/3 of the way through his journey, but Columbus thought the earth was 1/3 the size it actually is. Lucky for him he ran into an unknown continent.

(Kindof like how we ran out of money 1/3 of the way through and luckily ran into paid delegates and cryptonomex funding).

Yeah stop perpetuating myths.

General Discussion / Re: nasdaq to use bitcoin technology
« on: July 23, 2015, 07:21:54 pm »
Information on bitshares has not been readily accessible. These companies are not looking at CMC or forums to find partnerships. We have to reach out to reputable VCs or to exchanges like Nasdaq directly. There has been very little emphasis on strategic planning and partnerships by the the core team.

yeah in action that's true.  But its so contary to what they have been saying.  in what's been verbalized, the CNX has been saying they have a bag full of partnerships/ fleet of planes to land on bitshares airstrip.

I'm glad you agree, we have little to show in terms of partnerships so far.

can someone point them over to our website?
Didn't you read the article? They WANT to use legacy Bitcoin technology :P
A company of that size should have experts that are able to browse over CMC and read about "competitors" and alternatives to bitcoin ..
unless they just want to use the bitcoin hype

bitshares right now hasn't deliver neither.

All he said was that they've talked. It was more news than announcement.

Huh?  Where is our update that we were told to get last week?

268
It's one of those potential partnerships that could be good PR or could go absolutely nowhere. You can call him on the date if you want, but that usually isn't how these things work. I'd prefer to just let things unfold naturally and see what happens (if anything).

Its a non-news event.  PR is useful when you have an audience to bring their eyes towards something.  There is nothing to show.

Additionally, you didn't answer the previous question.  Why would you announce this and then reneg on it and possibility risk damaging credibility.  This is not how world-class organizations act.

Is mediocrity good enough for us?

Nope. That's why they'd rather do it right than rushing on a timeline.

I agree with that. But execution is a whole another question.  This is about communication and how it gets botched so often.

it was very encouraging to have both Bytemaster and Stan respond to this post.  As a community member, I felt incumbent to push us and those around us to achieve more than we at first thought we could.  Its a duty and a privilege.  That was my goal of this post.

Though, I feel that I need to share my opinion.  We should always be skeptical in what we see, hear and do.  We always have to be weary of the possibility that CMX and the other teams raise big expectations, and when they can't fully deliver, they compromise, giving the community less than what they get as a payoff from jumping ship.  If you don't mentally or financially prepare for this, I tihnk your opening yourself to big vulnerabilities.  And big losses.

CMX will be working for another company, another bank, another Fortune 500.  The fact that they are a consulting group is very concerning.  Consulting don't have as much skin in the game because they have various income streams.  The Dev team are free to disagree.  But these are the facts.  They are diversified from the risks, unlike the community.  When it comes down to bottom line budgets and numbers, they can only give their attention to the community, only what is worth their time. They will have to prove (and I certainly believe they will) that its overwise true.  That you can have a world-class software consulting group, profitability operating within a self-organizing system.

These are just my thoughts and I mean no hard or fault.  I'm just seeing things for what they are right now.
