General Discussion / Re: What is going on??
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:11:02 pm »
Guys why are people dumping the sh** out of BTSX? I was just on BTER and a half a million dump happened in front of my eyes.
Not to mention that BTSX has lost over 40% in the last couple of weeks. Is this connected to the Bytemaster recent plans of unification of all the DACs?

Thanks
The market doesn't like uncertainty, plus the market is not use to price such thing.

General Discussion / Re: Proposal to Resolve a Million Issues at Once
« on: October 19, 2014, 03:06:09 pm »
I have a feeling their is more going on behind the scenes. Maybe money is getting tight, maybe no marketing push or talks have fallen through with on-off ramps.

I am just not seeing the logic of the great need to change so many things at once.
I think it's the logical conclusion once you realize that BTS VOTE would be better with BitUSD, but BSTX would be worse off.

Once you realize that, you have a choice to make:
- favor BTSX
- favor VOTE
- aligns the interests between VOTE and BTSX (and have synergies with a bigger network effect and the streamlining of the marketing)

Is VOTE dac an independant dac and are they still getting its own bitUSD debit card (for their own version of bitUSD) or are they on the same blockchain as BTSX with this proposal?

This proposal is to bring them all on to one chain.. no BitUSD competitors.
So BTS will have only one blockchain?
Weren't you saying few months ago that scalability requires having several parallel blockchains?

So what happens to the idea that scalability requires having multiple blockchains running in parallels?

Is the "MasterDAC" BTS will have only one blockchain or will be composed of several blockchains?

(Overall I think the proposition in the OP is a good idea, I am just trying to understand).

What will happen to the 10% AGS/10% PTS social consensus? Will it become 20% for AGS or still be 10% for AGS?

General Discussion / Re: VOTE DAC Just Got More Interesting
« on: October 16, 2014, 02:53:27 pm »
Why do you choose to have nightmares?   Consciousness is deeper than our thinking mind can directly control.

It takes time to recondition our thoughts on all levels.

But I can say that I have seen smaller changes happen and we are on the verge of making huge breakthroughs on free energy and free markets.   Why?  Because I changed my view on the world from one where I was going to survive mad max as a farmer to one where wealth was abundant about 3 months prior to starting bitshares.

Had i held to prior beliefs the world would have gone a different direction.
Are you saying that the world would have gone a different direction or that the world you are living would have gone a different direction?

I have very optmist beliefs about the future of mankind and technological progress since I am a child. Maybe the fact that you recently have changed your perceptions allowed you to temporarily live in the same fork of the Multiverse than mine.

Or do you think there is no Multiverse, only one Universe, which you are actively shaping (and thereby denying my past and present influence on reality, and even my very existence)?

I attempt to avoid labeling my views as labels carry baggage.

I submit for your consideration the following unprovable and impossible to disprove hypothesis: there is only one consciousness and that consciousness is me.   All physical reality and other people are thus a manifestation of that one consciousness just like the people and things in your dreams are merely manifestations of your subcounsous.

Lacking any evidence to suggest that there exists some objective reality outside this one consciousness one may choose how they wish to view the world.

If viewing the world as objective and physical and consciousness as being derived from the physical makes your life more enjoyable then view it that way and it will behave that way.   If, on the other hand, viewing the world as I view it makes life more enjoyable then view it that way.

There is no need to accept it on faith... it is easy enough to experiment with fully embracing both views.  For most of us, viewing the world as physical and us as something "separate" is our default view... so it is very hard to adapt your perspective to a world where you create it through your own subjective reality much like slowly gaining control of your dream rather than being controlled by your dream.

So I choose to adopt the views that make life most enjoyable... and I can honestly say that switching perspectives lets you see the world in a whole new way.  The thought of adopting any kind of objective view of reality at this point in time seems painful and "dead".

How does this fit into morality... I choose how I interpret and perceive the actions of others and what I focus on.  I choose to view aggression and problems in the world as an outward reflection of the internal/sub-counsious need to control the world around me.   I choose to focus on releasing my own need to control others in any way shape or form as the ultimate way for finding my own freedom and changing the world.
If you control the reality why aren't you living in a world which is closer to heaven than the one you are right know? Why have you chosen to create pain, poverty, wars, ebola, etc?

I am using Windows 8.

Here what I see when I click on the icon for version 0.4.20
http://pbrd.co/1yDHsIG
From there the image stay forever and when I try to click somewhere the image disappears.

Alternatively I get that:

When I launch with the command line the same thing happens, it changes nothing.

Technical Support / BTSX wallet not opening
« on: October 15, 2014, 03:25:45 pm »
My BTSX wallet no longer open when I try to run it. I had an old version 04.5 or something like that, so I have just installed the 0.4.20 version to see if it solve the problem but still it doesn't working, nothing happen when I try to launch the wallet :(
What could I do?

General Discussion / Re: Forking Features
« on: October 12, 2014, 09:12:50 pm »
Some features I can think of off the top of my head which I am not sure if they are already in the code yet or will require a future fork:
  • Changing votes with BTSX held as collateral in short position.
  • Attaching arbitrary(?) length messages in a transaction to another account beyond the small memo field (both encrypted and plain-text versions). Is this still planned?
  • Public balances for accounts (although this may already be possible on the blockchain without a fork).

And then there is of course the nearly endless items on my personal wishlist that will either not happen or it will be a long time before they do happen:
  • Restructure block headers to implement lightweight client verification.
  • Delegate proposals with shareholder ratification where the ratified proposals modify the rules of the DAC. This includes all the wonderful features that come along with it such as: inflation caps, BitAsset yield rate caps, workers, hard-fork proposals, etc.
  • Cover short position through a BitAsset market buy order using collateral in short position as payment.
  • A fair and monotonic BitAsset yield distribution (linear interest is fine if continuous compounding complicates the implementation too much).
  • Automatic conversion of network fees using internal exchanges to get DAC revenue in the form of the BitAsset/BTSX desired for either payment to delegates/workers or payment to BitAsset yields.
  • Time-based multisig where spending a transaction requires a 2-of-3 multsig between t0 <= t < t0 + 6 months, and a 1-of-1 sig can be used in addition to the 2-of-3 multisig after t >= t0 + 6 months. This allows for beneficiaries to claim the funds of a deceased benefactor after 6 months of inactivity.
  • Allow delegates to take a vacation / retire from their delegate role and take back a percentage of their submitted delegate registration fee (called the surety bond portion), and if they want to go back to being a valid delegate candidate, they need to repost that surety bond. Then, the DAC should allow anyone to submit proof of a double-sign of a block by an active delegate to the blockchain which will automatically ban that delegate and claim the surety bond as revenue for the DAC. This increases the opportunity cost of misbehaving for any active delegate who is tired of being a delegate and wants to quit anyway.
  • Separation of private keys to update BTSX votes and transfer BTSX stake. This allows for keeping the vote updating keys on the hot client while keeping the keys controlling the movement of the funds safely in cold storage.
  • Implementation of BTSX yield (similar to BitAsset yield) instead of the current buyback mechanism for providing shareholder dividends in order to financially incentivize updates of votes by, for example, withholding yields on BTSX balances that have not moved for over a year. Potentially a 5% inactivity fee on balances that haven't been updated for a year could work as substitute.
  • An inactivity fee on BitAssets and BTSX (regardless of the above point) to reclaim value lost due to missing private keys. Lost BitAsset value cannot be claimed by letting the market factor it in (it could only act as a black swan fund). While lost BTSX could be factored in by the market in the price of BTSX, it is better to be 100% sure it is lost by just claiming old inactive funds. I suggest not touching balances with less than 5 years of inactivity, and then claiming 100% of the funds by year 6 starting with 0% claimed at the beginning of year 5 and interpolating linearly with time.
  • Many more...

Quite the list you have there...

I could add a dozen more hard-fork features...
1) Using BitAssets as collateral for shorts
2) Allowing reverse shorting (BTSX... etc)
3) Allow publishing of price feeds in USD per GLD to reduce update frequency compared to BTSX vs GLD...
4) Ring Signatures like Crypto-Note...

All of that said I think BTSX will gain more from feature stability with perhaps annual updates after massive test nets than it will from rapid addition of features.
Adoption of Ring Signatures would get BTSX a lot attention from the BTC and altcoins communities.

Français (French) / Re: Comment implanter bitshares en France ?
« on: October 12, 2014, 08:35:49 pm »

Too bad it doesn't provide any argument...

It's funny to see all these people who first didn't understand BTC, now repeating like parrots the same meme "the technology will stay but not the currency".

General Discussion / Re: My bitsharesx educational video... please upvote
« on: October 08, 2014, 03:34:54 pm »
Thanks guys.   We need some more reddit upvotes if anyone has not yet voted.  Getting to 25 upvotes is the difference between front page and not.  That is the difference between 10,000 views like my last video and 1,000 views.

Click here http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/charts and scroll down to total number of accounts.  Unless there was some parrallel marketing event that I was unaware of that bump in new accounts on the 18th of September was a result of my previous video getting on the front page of reddit.

So click here and up vote on reddit if you have not already.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2inqi5/what_are_the_best_ways_to_hedge_bitcoin/

If you do not have a reddit account, get one.  We will need your votes for all future videos as well.
You just convince me to create a Reddit account for the occasion. You are really good at convincing people ;)

Surely, you mean BitUSD adoption, not Bitcoin.
Since when USD is returned to be cool? It's inflationnist and it's not global.

As an European I seriously don't care about BitUSD.
