OpenLedger works behind the corporate firewall, so that would be good :)

Any chance of using another port for the web sockets? I requested and unblocked the testnet.bitshares.eu from a generic corporate proxy. But port 11011 is not use.

Fantastic :) Great for demos.

@xeroc Is it the same test strategy for MUSE?  Just checking you did not answer a Bitshares / Graphene question.

The demo/test network would help with this. Developers should have an easy way just to try things and mess around without losing money or fearing that they break something.

Since nobody seems to be interested in setting up a public test network, could it be done with worker proposal?
A private testnet is easily installed and documented in the docs

I think the point is regarding, testing and performance of functionality.

Then it goes back to a set of best practices on how to add extra functionality, and / or code reference. STEALTH was an example. I would prefer the original plugin quick mockup that was mentioned for crowdfunding (a while ago).

At the moment is very difficult to be a dapp developer, (in Bitshares) it is not just the learning curve, is the fact that you might be doing something wrong, any change will need to be heavily tested, including for performance. The EVM allows you to be sandboxed and protects the blockchain from this.

I thought if Plasma might be a candidate for this, but it is a completely different beast as it is a smaller blockchain to hold state, you still need the "contract" functionality. There are many ways that Ethereum and Bitshares can work alongside, even if both had EVMs as it will enrich the ecosystem. In another perspective another VM could be created, but following the anology of Sql Server + Sql I like the idea of having Solidity across many chains.

I still think the whole crypto ecosystem is very small, it will beneficial for an open collaboration and forum for the different chains.

Let's see a worker proposal for EVM.

How will that work in licensing terms?

On that note when are we getting the Brownies for the testnet ? <<hint>> <<hint>>

Happy to hold do it, it makes sense to separate holders / investors than speculators. So far the only one that has benefit were speculators, I was thinking of switching to Brownies instead of BTS as at least I know the investment will be in the developers :).

General Discussion / Re: Why I like Ethereum [BLOG POST]

Overall this is a great idea, specially EVM becoming an standard as it was mentioned and the capability to interop across different chains. Bitshares provides already a great BitAsset interface / Exchange etc. This will be like running Java in different OS.

Ill have to say I am the first to say it is hard to add functionality to BitShares, as it was mentioned on the blog post it is hard to sandbox yourself to test extra functionality. It is simpler to test your models in Ethereum BUT I am also the first one to say that if you need extra performance you can move to Graphene.

I look forward to this and is never too late. Yes Toast / Rune / Ryan are great candidates to do this.

General Discussion / Re: Mutual Aid Societies
« on: January 07, 2016, 02:24:10 pm »
In an insurance perspective, any ideas how the claims going to be handled / recorded? Who verifies that the claims are valid? At the end of the day this is a mutual insurance.

Any ideas to start with a simpler model simple like life insurance? Obviously whilst simple, we won't have any claims (I hope so, for a long time) so difficult to test in real life.

Are planning to have witnesses that verify a claim / incident registry? I guess if public records can easily extracted for certain terms for the use cases described, this will be an easy task for witnesses.

How are we going to disclosed/match identities?  This will be required to validate claims and prevent fraud for repeated claims.

Overall great experiment :)

PS: Maybe there is a different model, so I might be barking from the wrong tree.
