BitShares PTS / Re: [ANN] PTS.1GH.COM - GPU mining
« on: January 12, 2014, 08:18:31 pm »
Hey, is it supposed to be safe to use your PTS addy from the exchange to mine? or should I use a qt generated address? I'm asking because the funds don't show up in my bter.com address even though transactions look ok in the blockchain explorer.
From a security standpoint, it's safer to use your own local wallet, then transfer to Bter when you need to transact. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Bter, but you're at the mercy of their system when you give up control like that.

Keyhotee / Re: Keyhotee Founder ID Registration Process
« on: January 11, 2014, 07:24:45 am »

Thanks for update. What if one person own two Keyhotee IDs, is it OK if he use the same identity?

This actually raised another question in my mind. If I have another persons information, what's stopping me from posing as someone else through Keyhotee? I mean like if I had my friends License and Passport/Social Insurance number and created a Keyhotee ID under his name? This would be easily done since you are aloud to have multiple identities.

There is still the brain wallet key which you would not know.
I have a question on having multiple Keyhotee ID's. I have several for various purposes, one for personal, one for business, and one for the wife. Is is best to create a separate profile for each ID so that a unique Brain Wallet Key Phrase is created for each plus a public key?

Then for example on my personal profile, I can add the company Identity so that I can manage both ID's from one profile, but the company ID could be separated to a different system in the future if needed by using the original profile information and Brain Wallet Key Phrase that was created for it.

Am I understanding this correctly? I just want to get it right before submitting it all to the Founder ID Registration site. Thank you.

I am getting the Invalid ID/Founder Pair now too.
Well, based off that error I was getting in the status windows, looks like something might be off or a service is not running. No worries, Alpha is Alpha...  8)

Hi, trying out the new version 0.5.2, and I'm getting a "Invalid ID/FounderKey Pair" even after updating the founder sign up with my PubKey and Founder Code funding address. Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong?
Thanks.

May have done something wrong. I got the same public key after filling out brainwallet info (think only First name, Last Name, and BW seed matter) and my Founder ID now says Registered with my "points" displayed.  Gone is the green/gold label.
I removed the profile from AppData, created a fresh profile. Provided all the same info, received the same exact PubKey, pasted in the Founder Code from the email I received. Still saying Invalid ID/FounderKey Pair.

I am seeing this in the status window:

Across from the Last Name field, the last line in the paragraph.

(well maybe a bit too optimistic, but i was pretty excited learning all that)
Just curious, is that specific EC2 around $16 a day? And at current diff this would generate 0.2244 PTS?
(http://mrx.im/pts.php?cpm=560) I'm not knocking what you have provided in the way of guidance, I'm checking my math to realize ROI over upgrading some existing equipment (CPU's) or wait for ATI GPU miner as I have stacks of them left over from the early BTC days.

It's cheaper than that on the spot market, sometimes.

http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/spot-instances/

For example, right now, most markets do cost $16/day on spot (because of all the damn miners. grin.)

But Northern California is only $0.2/hour = $4.80 per day.

Which, alas, is below being profitable.

But, um, if you grab my most recent code you might find that the profitability threshold on ec2 just went up. I'm getting over 800 c/m on Amazon, but my instances only run when the spot market prices drop below about $0.11/hour -- which they don't seem very likely to do.

Note:  Running on spot instances is a little scary.  It's VERY easy to typo in the box where you say how much you'll pay per hour.  DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECK YOUR BIDS.  From watching the prices historically, it's very clear that some people missed the decimal point and ended up paying more on the spot market than if they just paid the $16/day for a normal g2.2xlarge instance.  (!!!)

You also have to watch the market prices of the things you're mining very carefully.

Thank you for this guidance, I was not aware of the spot instance option. I will research further and be cautious on the bids. I'll also need to learn how to get the mining software to launch automatically as it sounds like if your bid hits the VM will start automatically.(?) Maybe have it send an email as well so you know it's alive and to keep an eye on it.

BitShares PTS / Re: Exchanges

I used bter.com on 12/16/13 and 1/3/2014. I was able to deposit BTC and buy PTS, it did take a couple hours for my confirmations, but I was able to complete my transactions. I'm not saying that they are not having issues, just that it worked for me on those dates. I'm always sketchy about using Exchanges, and always take the get in get out as quickly as possible approach. Never leave a balance has been my SOP.

How does one find out what their PTS from address is that they used to make a donation? I can only seem to find the Transaction ID in my ProtoShares Wallet. Thanks.

Send me an email from the same address we have on file and I'll send it to you.

Thanks Stan, between the https://coinplorer.com and http://www1.agsexplorer.com sites I was able to find all of them and understand it now. I was only seeing the one address, in reality I had sent from four. (Same wallet)

The easiest way is to search your transaction id on any general PTS block explorer, such as coinplorer.com/PTS/ to find out what are the 'real' addresses in your wallet are actually donating.

Use either address of these and look it up on agsexplorer.com, it will show you the balance of the associated addresses.
I figured it out. I was confused, I didn't know it would send from receive addresses I had also created. I found them all now. Thank you.

http://www1.agsexplorer.com/  is caught up and working fine (even though there is an warning posted).

The check balance feature is working fine too.
