General Discussion / Re: Used all my BTS to short bitUSD......

skyscraperfarms brings up a good point. At some point "innovation" should be slowed down, and rules should be set in stone.

How else are hardware manufacturers going to commit to integrating with BTS?

Imagine an ATM that can dispose BitUSD by simply printing a private key (or transfer to one). Wow. That would be cool, right?

OK, but if the rules change all the time, no one is going to commit to making one.

We need to set in stone parts of the protocol that are vital for mass adoption.

BTS can be very disruptive. I just don't see why would anyone get out of BTS at these prices unless they absolutely need to. I think the upside potential especially with the new direction is so huge, that NOT being in BTS is a huge risk.

The argument against inflation is really stupid. This is so powerful - stakeholders have the ability to hire and fire and vote with their money. It is SO much better than the politics and drama surrounding the Bitcoin Foundation elections.

I say - fix the bugs, deliver thin idiot proof client with deterministic wallets, do marketing and find partners. It is clear now that ALL crypto projects take much much longer to grow to their full potential, so BTS is not really "behind".

BTS will be explosive at some point, but probably more like 2016. At this point I'm just laughing at the low prices and hope elected developers can cover their bills.

So what does MOONFUND really give you?

General Discussion / Re: BitAssets 3.0 - For Community Review

Just when I started giving up on BitShares... Your proposed changes are excellent.

Specifically - promise of liquidity, I've proposed the blockchain to be a market maker many times before, but stakeholders didn't want to take the risk of losses turning into dilution.

Whatever you do - can you please KISS? There is so much confusion as to how this works, and it keeps changing. Make sure you put together a nice infographic showing how things work.

Would love to see synthetic depth of market as well - e.g. BitUSD:BTS <-> BTS:BitGold should automatically populate BitUSD:BitGold. And UI should have a "base asset" mode, so traders can think in terms of BitUSD, or BitCNY, or whatever.

I think toast has always been independent, so I don't see what the big fuss is all about. If he wants to work on something he likes no one can stop him. I'm actually excited about this, and now have more confidence in NOTE than ever.

Knowing that toast is on that team gives me great confidence.

What's that girl doing in the bunker at 0:40?  :o

9.28 million at current price is like 41K USD .
Maybe the guy earns 10K USD per month as a lawyer or whatever , who knows , it would be like pocket change for him .

Trust me, even when you earn over $20K/mo, $41K will not be pocket change to you.

Where can we see on github how "notes" development is in progress?

PS I bet a core dev will be totally "unknown " to us...

Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 997D

Isn't toast a core notes dev?

In fact I think the lack of adoption is lack of certainty in the protocol, and it's hard to innovate if you set the protocol in stone.

Wow to be able to use BTS in ATM, it will need to be able to check andupdate hard forks on a daily basis... Which seems scary and risky but good luck. Hopefully bts protocol will stabilize and be able to be integrated in hardware more easily going forward.

I would highly advice to have deterministic wallets, that don't require saved file. For some people restoring a backup is just way too stressful. In fact many thought that password was all that was needed and got burned when not also backing up the wallet file. I still think a big deterrent is the lack of good user experience. I've ran it on all 3 platforms and have various problems that I could manage as a power user, but know would scare the crap out of a newcomer. I think fixing the bugs is definitely a major step in the right direction of reducing the cost of user adoption

No, this is not a client side feature, because you are not guaranteed both orders will execute as an atomic operation at the same time, and on top of that you will create more overhead on the blockchain, than is needed.
it is possible to get multiple buy/sell orders into one block though ..
I don't see an additional transaction for auto bridging coming any time soon ..

Given that right now the engine doesn't even match regular buys and sells correctly, I would be nervous building a client side tool, which relies on the engine being right. You will end up with a split order, guaranteed.

Even if you include the two orders in the same block, someone else may have beaten you to ONE of the orders, so it will get dropped. Like I said - it's not an atomic operation.
