Very cool- looking forward to more IDentabit news!  8)

Does this mean that IDentabit sharedrops will not be anonymous? If that's the case, wouldn't the sharedrop itself disclose the identities of each BTS account?

General Discussion / Re: Maker sharedrop on the BitShares community

I'd very much appreciate a sharedrop from Maker so thanks for the consideration, Rune!  I probably wouldn't checkout the platform otherwise so I'm looking forward to whatever sharedrop you deem appropriate.  IMO, the best sharedrop would be from the BTS snapshot (10% PTS/ 10% AGS) which should appease everyone involved in the 'social contract' that once was.  8)

Thanks Toast, that worked.  But now I'm running into this after moving to step #8:

Code: [Select]
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git
yellowecho:~ yellowecho$ cmake .
CMake Error: The source directory "/Users/yellowecho" does not appear to contain CMakeLists.txt.

Technical Support / Need help building BitShares via Terminal
« on: August 09, 2015, 05:09:48 pm »
I'm following the steps found here: https://github.com/BitShares/bitshares/blob/master/BUILD_OSX.md

When I get to step #7 for cloning the github repository, I get a the following message:
Code: [Select]
Permission denied (publickey).
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

I have experience with front end development so I wanted to jump in to see how I could help. Thanks

Any estimate on when the new hangout will be posted to Soundcloud?  Or the raw? I wasn't able to attend this weeks hangout so I'm feeling out of the loop

Stan, has there been any outreach to gold dealers like Mike Maloney for a UIA or bitGLD?  If I recall correctly, GoldMoney (James Turk) has a relationship with BitGold so it would be in our best interest to reach out to dealers once Graphine is ready.

Great to see you back on the forum, John!  8)  I'm very much looking forward to the big reveal (especially since I have expiring shorts that're draining me)  :P

Why on earth would you use IOUs when ETH is a perfect candidate for a bitasset?
Just need to find someone to pay the asset fee..

Exactly.  What's the asset fee currently?  If necessary, we could do a donation to publicly raise the cost of the fee.

General Discussion / Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS)

I guess I haven't done much in term of "sweat equity" for Bitshares, but I have been a follower since spring 2014, an AGS and PTS investor as well as an eager Bitshares buyer/holder.

I converted my best friend to Bitshares, helped him set up a wallet and he bought a significant stake. He's a hodler as much as I am. Now I'm spreading the word around to people I know, sending them links about all the partnerships and the media coverage out there. When BTS 2.0 is out there I'll switch gear as it'll be much easier to get people onboard.

I also regularly post on the forum and try to generally keep the discussion positive and constructive, and I counterbalance FUD with a believer attitude, even if sometimes I may appear as a fan boy.

All in all I may not have done much compared to others, but I believe my small contribution has been positive.

I'm not asking much though, as I know a lot of people around here did an incredible job!

+5% I've been a forum member since early 2014 but I was following Protoshares since it's inception.  I've converted many users and I'm active on social media (especially Reddit) promoting the technology and correcting people on their misperceptions and what amounts to FUD.  Besides my early stake in PTS, I also donated to AGS a substantial sum for me at the time. I do rapid software development using SQL databases as a day job and have been toying with ideas for integrating BTS2.0 once released. So most of my contribution has been financial and through social media.. though the amount of time I've dedicated to BTS through these avenues has been substantial (its been years afterall).

General Discussion / Re: Anyone else keeping an eye on VOAT.CO?
« on: July 07, 2015, 06:37:02 pm »
yeah, but they need to figure out their growing pains.

I run v/smartcoin :)
Getting them to integrate bitshares at the same time as building their system could be a good thing though, couldn't it?
It would save them the hassle of re-doing work once they decide to integrate bitshares. Bts could get in on the ground floor. Voat is struggling to keep up with demand and needs funding to improve. They are currently asking for donations, but a way to really monetize their product would probably be received very well.

Voat is currently getting hit with a huge amount of traffic as a direct result of recent changes happening over at that other place.
Everyone, we’re sorry. We’re both sad to see what we once loved change in this manner, but we’re also excited about the future, but our future won't be traveling down this same path.
We won’t be getting any sleep tonight (again) and we are doing everything we can to handle the traffic.
Our budget is limited but we’ll make sure to fight to the last penny in order to keep Voat alive for this community. If you want to donate, well, now is the time. Our bitcoin address is 1C4Q1RvUb3bzk4aaLVgGccnSnaHYFdESzY.

If we can get some solid ideas for how they can use bts, I shall approach them and try and get them into a thread for discussion.
Reddit failed to integrate bitcoin into tipping, as they sacked the enginerr who was working on it - although they guy seemed to be doing well and had high hopes for how crypto could enhance the user experience

1. Brownie points system of upvotes. Upvotes give "karma" as well as allow premium Voat purchases (like reddit gold, but more sophisticated). Maybe they can imitate Team Fortress and sell "hats", like flair or special avatars that only threshold-level users can access.

2. Lease server time from BunkerMining on a dynamic basis. Could their system be programmed to quickly purchase additional servers during peak hours? A way to efficiently manage their server costs would be AMAZING.

3. Voat want to avoid censorship, reddit's downfall. How can bts help in this respect? Could /v/ subvoats(?) utilise Dynamic Account Permissions so that only the moderators of that sub can censor, taking power away from Voat admins? BitID could help with this.

4. User logins. BitID to save time logging in. Could UIAs be used to back up user data? I'm thinking of a system where a bitID maps to a basket of UIAs that track #posts, upvotes, premium membership etc. I know hosting data on the blockchain is expensive but it may be in Voat's interest to pay the fees. "Your account data will never be lost and is only accessbile by you!" would be a great selling point.

Any ideas?
Yes these are good idea ! I feel that if we want them on board we would need something that can make them money so they can become sustainable.

If they became a gateway, they would do very well since they'd get a cut of every new user.
