General Discussion / Community Hangout Name Vote
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:19:47 am »
####################################################################################################################################################################################################
I am setting up a Hangout-style video interview series.  The first thread can be located here if you wish to know more about it:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2572.15 .  It will basically try to focus on issues that are helpful to the PTS community, Development team and, perhaps most importantly, breaking this down to a little less technical level to help encourage wide adoption.
####################################################################################################################################################################################################

The following is an excerpt from my description of the general concept for the Hangout, in the case you prefer only a cursory glance.  Any questions will be answered via the email

Pre-production

Scripting? Questions?  The community could post questions in a forum thread initially or a portion of the show centered on them.  (Bytemaster, a media "category" in the forums would be beautiful).  Of course people could also show up and ask questions when we are live, but I know I always have questions for Devs even if we get few people at first.  My hope for this would be to make it in the spirit of cryptocurrency--decentralized.  I'll gladly "host" a channel though.

Should there be an introduction video? Of course!, and I'm sure ByteMaster would let us use clips of their own for certain instances.

What's the format? Different each time? A) Google Hangout(s) with news, conversations with Devs and Forum "brains", Talk about the potential of DACs.   B) consider 1 hour of a 2 hour show to be "structured", with 1 hour hangout.

Quality
How will it be entertaining?  Sometimes it might not be, but the great thing about things today is that "best of clips" could be compiled by community members who love to do those things...or perhaps another model will eventually take shape.  Someone will eventually fill that hole just like you are stepping up to ask these questions ;)

How will it be informative?  The hour of structure will talk about basics, news, sociopolitical "deep" questions...perhaps let "newbies" show up and ask questions during a certain portion (with backup material in the case noone shows up)
HD? HD shouldnt be too hard using Google Hangouts, but I personally hope it can be inclusive of a broader audience...unless their equipment is TERRIBLE ;P

Production

Where/how will it be filmed?    Personally like Google Hangouts (until a decentralized solution exists)...or in a Haunted Cemetery.

How will it be post-edited?     I will definitely play with it and edit it.  Will probably make a blog to post links to news, youtube vids...etc.  But I think it would be awesome if noone "owned" them.  Just post it under BitSharesCommunity or something to that effect and let other channels grow out of people doing their own work to the clips.

Promotion

Where will it be posted?     Posting through popular social networking sites will be a good start.  I personally love that Decentralized platforms can, if done correctly, incentivize participants to work to add value to the network (thus increasing the value of their stake).
If ByteMaster puts a "Media" Category in their forums, I would be glad to post pertinent videos there and would love to see others do the same (make it a kind of video social video blog).

How will it be advertised?  Good question on the Advertising.

As for the rest, we will see how this goes.  I want to be there and make this thing my baby, but I dont want it centralized around me.  I also would like to eventually find someone who is willing to call me out when I'm an ass.  If it even matters what "I" want, in this.  Opinions from the community should be of utmost importance.  The next step would be to open a thread (I'll figure this out) that asks some important questions as to how the community would like to bootstrap this.  The up votes are starting to get high enough for me to take notice...and obviously it is the same with Bytemaster :)

I'd love to help build project...

####################################################################################################################################################################################################I also plan to have only a address that I will use to accept for a wallet donations, but will focus primarily on bringing individuals "from the field" to speak, provide content and advertise their ideas, allowing them to accept tips for the content they provide.  A (as of this moment) basic form, with instructions can be found at this location:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3033.0

If you are a Developer, a Dreamer, or just a "round peg in a square hole", I want to help give you a platform through which you can teach, advertise, network and build own standing with a broader crypto-community.

If you have a DAC idea, plans, designs, prototypes or any other manifestation a DAC may take and you want your voice to be heard...I want you to be part of what I have planned.

So what, exactly am I looking for?  People with a passion for Cryptocurrency and Decentralized Services who lay awake at night dreaming of ways it will change our future.

If you would like to apply to be considered for an interview, I will need you to send me an email at teawithkeyhotee@gmail.com, with the subject "RE: Attention Aspiring DAC Developers".

Along with your submission please copy/paste and fill out the short form below:

MemoryCoin / Creative uses for Voting with MemoryCoin

Can anyone tell me what beyond voting for the leaders of the community (which is huge btw), could potentially be voted on with the MemoryCoin Protocol?

General Discussion / Re: Some Opinions on the Default Unit of BTSX
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:38:37 am »
The number of shares is not relevant, because we will represent everything as percentages (eventually).

So the only question is what fraction of a percent is considered a XTS.    I think using a DOGE style positioning of the decimal point may have some solid marketing purposes of appealing to the little guy.

That's exactly what I was thinking.  At any time, the BTS could do a stock split and change the nominal price to whatever is most appealing.

Bingo..

I am planning on developing DACIndex.com and DACExchange.com so I'd be happy if you want to continue the DAC focus.

DAC stands for Distributed, Autonomous Company

I will definitely see what I can do and will in"corporate" (haha play on words?) any content you wish to provide.  I would also hope you can provide a funding address for your concept so I can add it onto your content for the community to "vote on" with their funds.  THIS is my plan.  Make it so every person who contributes content will have their own tip address and contact information added in with that content.  Then content can kind of be "mixed" to create new content.

If we can bring on more content providers in digital media, we can as a community, utilize it to create a positive feedback loop between advertising for CryptoEquity Devs and Content Providers/Aggregators ...then watch it grow as many of altcoins' content providers drifting in Free Space see a place to 'Dock" and begin complimenting each others' cryptocurrencies with their own unique skillsets.  Ultimately, if we all hold a stake in eachother's cryptos and port our work to multiple "coins" and "shares" it not only diversifies our individual "portfolios" and spreads the risk, but helps to reinforce an interconnected kind of "social consensus" as many practices will become standardized as a function of the framework being constructed.

One of the current issues I see with the social consensus is that few BUILDING BLOCKS are in place for the general population to take part--yet.  Social Consensus needs more than simply Developers recommending what they feel is fair, but will evolve naturally from an interconnected effort to construct the framework (that is not to say Devs should refrain from recommending).  Allow Content Providers to compete by providing their content, allow Developers to compete by providing their framework(s) and mods, and allow builders to take those building blocks and build something with it.

I'm going to post the names to a new forum to be voted on.

My wife will be having her baby today (or tonight) so I might be "afk" for a couple days.  See you guys in a bit!

General Discussion / Re: NoirShares Launch in 8 hours, don't panic.

There was never ever mentioned anything about PTS, you are such a douche barwizi. Good luck with your NRS

Really sucks how miscommunication and lack of available resources can screw with someone's opinion of another person.  I can honestly say Barwizi has really thought about both sides (I have actually argued for both sides with him behind the sidelines).  He actually DOES listen (when he is not working for 48 hours straight) and try to respond from what I have seen on this forum.

I am not a former Noirbits holder, so its hard for me to fully understand the reasons for your sour attitude...but if it is safe to say we are all fallible, then it is also safe to say that you will get further by trying to constructively express your points of view.  Remember, though, ALL of this is an experiment (that seems to be working btw) and might blow away in the wind tomorrow.  On top of that, there are real threats that exist to keeping these ecosystems free and healthy.

So when we really look at it, we need to remember that the COMMUNITY is our only way to make this work...and dividing ourselves needlessly seems counter to the best interests of ALL.

@Barwizi, I do not know exactly the reason why this guy is pissed, but it seems like it has something to do with Noirbits no longer being supported by you?  If this is the case, have you ever thought about allowing people to buy Noir-AngelShares with their Noirbits?  I know it would sadden me if invictus stopped supporting PTS and moved over to an honest Ethereum Clone (without Goldman Sachs involvement) and simply "forgot" about me.  However, I am also well aware that Invictus knows that they will no longer have my support if they ever abandon their community.

Regardless...lets kick this stuff around like intelligent, respectful  people.  Trust me I've been a dick before in a heated conversation...but I can honestly say it never helps the outcome.  :)

BitShares AGS / Re: Why my PTS donation does not appear in the balance?
« on: February 20, 2014, 06:48:33 pm »
seems I own the 8 different sending address, but does this mean everything is ok and I need not to worry about anything?

If you own the sending addresses and the transactions are in the blockchain you should be fine.   We will have plenty of time for everyone to check for bugs in agsexplorer and angelshares.info prior to launch.

This is very good to hear

BitShares AGS / Re: agsexplorer.com vs angelshares.info

Well it has been awhile since I had checked mine...but it seems to be showing up very wrong for both sites for me.  PTS and BTC Qt clients show all tx's as going through though.

So there should be no issues even if the websites are not capturing the correct amount...is this correct?

Attention to all.  I have just posted a preliminary DAC Interview Form in the Alternative DAC section of the forums as an outreach method to the creative souls in our community.  Please feel free to direct appropriate inquiries there.  Link:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3033.0

After the name is voted on by the community, I will begin creating the Google Hangout Accounts, Webpage(with webforms), Reddit and Twitter Accounts necessary for the growth of this endeavor.

Also, I am looking for musicians and other artists to provide content.  I will place the wallet QR and Address of their choosing so they can receive tips (this will be the same for every personality/content provider) every time their content is used.

This point display is actually just a temporary one we're using to let people know their KH Founder ID is registered with our name server, so there's no point to buying more at this point. It's unrelated to the reputation system that will be used once the blockchain is launched.

the situation is progressing unfavorably for PTS holders at the moment. I need help with the honouring of PTS immediately.

Can you just sell NoirShares for protoshares at a discount?  Instead of giving PTS holders something for nothing, you could give them  2x of what you'll charge for with Bitcoin.  Then you're supporting the PTS ecosystem (offering a premium over current market valuations because you believe in the long/short term potential) and especially right now becoming further vested in the Bitshares ecosystem since PTs are quite valuable until the 28th of Feb

We are trying to work out an automatic method of accomplishing that.

This sounds like a great idea.  However, I am curious--wouldn't one just wait until after Feb 28th to use them to buy NoirShares?  At that juncture, unless there was a market mechanism like AngelShares has (fixed amount released daily, % awarded based on finite supply against an uncapped investment amount), might there be issues with buying up NoirShares for nothing...

Of course, on the opposite end, I suppose being able to use them for NoirShares after Feb 28th could also help stabalize the price of PTS after the "snapshot" is taken and keep it from dropping too much since PTS would still be used to purchase another crypto-equity that is being worked on by a trusted Dev.

I really feel you Barwizi...this is something worth a big community discussion.  It is surprising so few of the community are posting their opinions on this.  Thanks for participating Adam...good to hear another's voice in this echo chamber ;)

Though some of my attention is now divided, i still am an active member of PTS community and III knows i am not going anywhere. My discoveries, ideas and innovations are for the group as a whole, they may be snubbing us here but we are still a part of this. Some have as much as 5000 PTS that was bought in anticipation of BTSX, my own PTS holdings are nothing to scoff at either. It should be noted that after i created the PoS/PoW Momentum code, i made it available to bytemaster. All my work will be shared with III without exception, if we can deal with our differences, i believe we can start attacking some of the issues that we will face.

NIG is not in a hurry, as proven by my not opening investment options before all the structures are in place. The Noir Fund  is already being tested but there are some security concerns that i want to deal with first before making it public. As it is meant to promote decentralization, some areas need ingenuity and innovation. for me it's easier coded than said.

With regard to factionalism, it does not exist. We may have brought in many new players, but quite a sizeable chunk of shares are in the hands of PTS holders already. And after a while when things pick up, there will be a lot of cross-investing as some of the ideas from both parties will work hand in hand.

Great Points...
