We lack a "Get listed on BitShares DEX" button on bitshares.org

Nice idea, Anyone disagree with this?

If BTS value comes primarily from our network effect then we should be incentivising basic coins that have a large userbase to migrate to our blockchain.
MKR and BANX have recently migrated to our blockchain as they benefit from not having to run their own blockchain plus many other features.
Storj have announced they intend to leave the counterparty coloured coin system (bitcoin blockchain)
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/49ce5u/storj_probably_moving_out_of_counterparty/

I think other tokens that use counterparty would be a good target to start with. View their top 10 here: https://xcpassets.org/

Also Startcoin would be a prime candidate for migration due to the fact it is just a basic coin that transfers yet has users and publicity. (I have reached out to them already)

If any of you have contacts or know the creators of any top 100 Coinmarketcap coins it would be great if you could reach out to them and make the case for a native migration.

Theres a bunch of UIA coin names I have reserved for a future exchange that I will gladly handover to the corresponding coins should they wish to migrate natively to our blockchain.

Which other basic coins/ feeshare tokens can you think of that would benefit from migrating?

Bitshares needs to attract 2 types of people. Investors and Users

Investors
We need to attract people who like me saw BTS as a good investment. Not day traders trying to make a quick buck.
We need them to increase the price of BTS market cap which benefits all aspects of the bitshares system.

Users
These are people who want to use the exchange but not necessarily buy BTS. This will grow our network effect and therefore our marketcap.
I would say there are 2 types of users.
1. Asset creators like Maker or BANX who want their asset as a native BTS token. (the most important and hugely positive for network effect)
2. Traders

If you show our GUI to anyone and ask them what it is. They will reply 'That looks like an exchange" because the core product of bitshares right now is an exchange.
Anyone whos into bitcoin knows what the word decentralised implies.

Our other features are only special when you add "on a decentralised exchange"

Anyone can issue their own assets  on a decentralised exchange
You can  make stealth transactions on a decentralised exchange
You have fiat pegged smartcoins     on a decetralised exchange
Prediction markets the live                on a decentralised exchange

The title change on the website is just a single sound bite that people can walk away with an understanding of what BTS is in 5 seconds.
We don't want fancy words that explain nothing.
If they spend longer than 5 secs on our site they will scroll down and see all our other key features.

3. Video on front page (Augur, Slock.it etc..) that talks about never getting Goxed again
4. Profit

This is a pretty catchy BitAsset video I did back in the day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCuXzQZAjPA&feature=youtu.be (I loaded it up again but as 'unlisted' as it's outdated/copyright issues/song author uncredited.)

Realistically though BTS best interim bet might be to look at using some of this OpenLedger video with Ronny's permission https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--CivEZvTxU

nice

Mumble is starting now.

I will be away but recording and will listen back in an hour.

"Free Transactions for Shareholders"   is much more positive

311
The front page of our website should just say     "Bitshares is a fully decentralised exchange"

The text currently on the front page of bitshares.org is meaningless to new visitors.

General Discussion / Re: Marketing plan for Bitshares 2.1
« on: March 04, 2016, 12:17:44 am »
The truth is we all get bogged down in details of bitshares. We need a simple clear message with no details.

bitshares can do many things but the core product is that it is a decentralised exchange.

The front page of our website should say     "Bitshares is a fully decentralised exchange"

Right now it says:
BitShares is an industrial-grade financial blockchain smart contracts platform.
Built using the latest in industry research, BitShares 2.0 delivers
a decentralized financial platform with speeds approaching** NASDAQ.

WTF does this even mean?

313
I disagree with most of you.

Rate limited transactions is not a good marketing term because it has the word limited in it and won't mean much to average joe.

Why can't we just say free

"transactions for shareholders"

314
i just did the next buyback http://cryptofresh.com/b/3169440

we bought 13.33 METAFEES for 0.32 BTC and will burn them the next days. The total supply for METAFEES will be going down from 6220 to 6206.67 METAFEES.

How did the supply drop to 5416   ??

tx for asking. we run an experiment with hedging on poloniex, but this is not needed anymore and we decided to go with our old model. So monsterer took his allocated METAFEES out of the pool.

he allocated originally everything in BTS and since the sell BTS dropped a lot in value, this is good for all remaining shareholders, because our liquidity pool increased thanks to ETHER a lot the last weeks.
I didn't understand, sorry.

i hope monsterer can chip in and can explain it in better english!

I still don't understand either. Better tag him if you want him to chip in @monsterer

Please spend he whole hangout discussing  Sidechains.

-  Different ways they could be implemented
-  Ball park figures on how much each implementation would cost
-  How long to implement?
-  Could they be suitable to be funded as a fee backed asset
-  What are the risks of multi sig colluders?
-  Does Bytemaster think this should be at the top of  our to do list?
-  Would BTC sidechain eliminate the need for most UIABTC and even BITBTC?
-  Would this increase liquidity dramatically by having a unified BTC asset?
- What about Ethereum or other coins being implemented in a similar fashion?

Also theres now a $54k bounty to make ethereum a dogecoin side chain:  https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/48riqo/_/
