One of the options on the table yes, but does it help at scale for enterprises ?
Way I saw it, its a system to help volunteers assisting the community. Similar to delegate pay.
Would appreciate any links / sources of info.

Its a referral program - you share in the fees of users you bring to bitshares

Considered it :)

Did you look into the rewards program?

Currently, the team is looking at ethereum, Bitshares and private VC investments to go forward.
Inputs would be welcome.

Go private. There is no way the community will be able to fund raise the amount of money you'll need for a gambling licence.

Keep in mind, this discussion is not solely about the e-sports venture, but the core business (free servers enabled by ads)

Hey guys,

I am one of the founders of freebieservers.com. We are  a community of close to 150,000 gamers from various parts of the globe. Currently, our infrastructure is pan American and we intend to take things global in the coming months as we work on an ecosystem that interlinks in-game economies to the blockchain, via an e-sports platform and a marketplace for in-game items. We've been incredibly lean in the sense that, we'raised only around 6k for the core business on the Nxt AE, had a 3 member team with most aspects either being contract handled or being done in-house. When we started work on the platform, 2 concerns were of key importance to us : userbase and monetization. Our userbase has grown to twice its size organically and we see consistent growth every day. In terms of monetization, we've partnered with a number of advertising houses to handle that aspect.

We've been considering liquidating more of our holding in the core business with primary goals being
1. Further expansion
2.  Increasing share-holder value
3. Liquidating founder's stock and adding stake-holders.

When we were fund raising last year, we were still an "experiment" so raising a major amount was out of question at the time.
We've done a number of major advertising deals and drastically improved ourselves since then. I'd reached out to PLAY regarding a potential collaboration, but that headed nowhere.

I've been considering the following for the markets here,

1. A share-drop (still not clear on how this adds to a financial incentive for us)
2. A UIA (the legal aspects are a bit worrysome)
3. Token issuance

Currently, the team is looking at ethereum, Bitshares and private VC investments to go forward.
Inputs would be welcome.

Regards
3.

General Discussion / ELI5 : Bitshares Sharedrop
« on: August 26, 2015, 12:47:47 am »
I am confused about this as a business owner. Would someone explain the following to me

1. What is a sharedrop
2. How legal is it
3. What incentives does a business have to do so (financially, in any other fashion)
4. What is expected from a business doing a share drop
5. Use cases of businesses that do sharedrops / have done it succesfully here so far.

Regards

Pretty inspiring. Will take time out and write about our journey to 150k users over the past year later today.

Big opportunities in this sector.

If you get just a couple of popular games using BTS/PLAY for their in-game purchases and a referral programme, the network effect could be huge. E-Betting and Blockchain based gambling in general is also going to be massive when it takes off.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share an article I'd written off late.
Explains why we do what we do, and believe gaming is the frontier for user adaption when it comes to crypto :)

https://medium.com/@GameBet_Business/gaming-and-crypto-s-b3d5e2ff37ff

Everytime you open your mouth I realize how similarly we see things...I've been saying we should never underestimate PLAY for this very reason.  There are SO MANY reasons...
1) botters are not supposed to exist in games but they do.  And they do real work (killing monsters or automating trading between gold and in game items in auction houses to name two).  Real proof of work...
2) gamers are able to collectively organize and accomplish complicated tasks on a level most every other demographic is unable to easily attain.
3) gamers are used to changing economies in regular succession. Changing the game one plays puts them in a new world and likely a car different economy than the last game.
4) gamers tend to be more capable of utilizing learning GUI interfaces at a more intuitive level (in general).
5) gamers understand digital value can represent real value and understand the basics of how economies work and how value is perceived
6) gamers who are also coders often fall in love with a game and it's community and build tools for their communities to use. These tools shouldn't take too much reworking to create utilities that enable cryptocurrency to be layered into the featureset.
And....then of course you have this:  https://medium.com/@GameBet_Business/gaming-and-crypto-s-b3d5e2ff37ff

Good points.

We expect to launch a beta in 2 weeks with Cs:Go support. It will initially be a "game-item" and crypto enabled economy. However,as we move forward with fiat acceptance, there is space for further crypto integration. Depending on the alignment of visions and incentives involved we'll be going with more coins at the time. The launch will (most probably) support only  Bitcoin

Two new cool projects in this direction:

And of course the old BitQuest server:

Some good finds there :)

Anyway, we need to chat offline when you get a chance, cool?

Haha, its good to see alignment in thoughts Fuzzy :)

Am available all day, every day when its business.
Got caught up with some emergencies the past week so I haven't been available, but just message me whenever you'd want to talk.

In regards to PLAY, am not sure how they are positioning themselves and our conversations went nowhere, so am not sure how I could work along with them , although I was very keen on a potential partnership and their reach in the chinese markets. Our current strategy is to establish ourselves as the biggest network of gaming related ventures that run on the block-chain over the next year. We are very open to joining hands to make this cause happen. As a matter of fact we've been working on some partnerships and mergers behind the scenes. I'll update more news in the days to come.

Hey

We just finished work on a trade bot for internal purposes and am glad to plug it in to bitshares ecosystem provided we can see the right financial incentives in doing so.

Glad to converse over skype and see what we could do.

Just thought I'd drop by and share my thoughts.

I've worked closely with both Bitshares and Nxt.
Nxt helped us raise 5k around last september to revamp our technology stack on the website and release a better version.
We'd issued what would be a BUIA (bitshares user issued asset) in Nxt - issues on the NXT Asset exchange.
We'd around 1 million tokens and liquidated only around 200k of those tokens to raise the amount.
The strategy was to raise "exactly" what was needed and not to go with how most crowd funds work - raising random, high amounts.
In the 3 months we raised funds, I made it a point to keep donators updated about progress and what I thought we could do better.
I'd promised giving the funders a cut of our profit, and we've been paying dividends succesfully for 3 months now.
I also had the wonderful opportunity of networking within Nxt's ecosystem and finding some amazing contacts.

With Bitshares, my approach was drastically different.
I'd come here at a time we were rolling out our advertising program and we were openly looking at coins that would benefit by working with us.
The most obvious candidate was Bitshares play so I made it a point to visit here, post a brief on what we do and where' we're headed, did the same with the Play talk forum and had little responses. Fuzzy was extremely helpful. Same with Stan, Max and Adam. All marketing leads worked (and continue) to do the same closely with us and we do have a line of products coming up from our end, some of which would have certain aspects of Bitshares integrated into it.

If PLS intends to do things of the same level, they'd have to make themselves more available and open to interaction and integration.
Admittedly, we at FS have been trying to get in touch with them - with  zero responses from the Play team for weeks now.
Sadly, we're also looking at an entire suite of products that fit in perfectly with what they are building.
Given the scale of our user base (100k monthly)  I believe a collaboration would benefit both houses,
So.. here's a random shout out to Hackerfish  - we should talk and hopefully, work together.

Looking to hear more about it!

I've been extremely silent for a while, focusing on what matters.
We have the basic structure for the betting platform ready, and the game item exchange being worked out at the moment.
There comes a point of time where silent work matters more than random blabber, I believe I've been having that moment for a while.
We've had a very strong backing from Nxt with certain elements of our work. Adam Ernest, Stan and Max have been helpful in getting me close to the ecosystem here. I intend to demo some of our work in the next 2-3 weeks. I'll also be sharing a document on our eco-system and what we strive to be in the next year pretty soon.

Sadly, we have had zero response from Playshares even now. While there are lots of synergies to work upon together, a lack of correspondence does put us back by a bit. While am open to the spirit of collaboration and mutual growth, there's nothing we can do until people see the opportunity lying ahead of them.

As a heads up, we're currently working on Lyth as a key partner in terms of tech/dev. I wonder if there are any similiar projects in the bithshares ecosystem. If there are, we're glad to join hands and make some of it happen.   As a company, we've constantly been positioning ourselves in the lucrative zone  where gaming and crypto's meet. The beauty, thrill and exuberance of gaming  combined with the power of crypto is what motivates us to wake up every morning and kick in to work.

I am constantly available on skype (Freebie.servers) in case you have any queries regarding what we're building.

P.s - we intend to have a counter-strike tournament aimed at crypto-startups on our opening night of the betting platform. In case you're interested, drop me a pm.

Conceptually, i agree that the forum tech should evolve...seems like we're still using two decade old tech to communicate while trying to change the world otherwise :)

This is the main element that drives ultra - the technology we are working with today is old and decentralized,
betwene skype, slack, irc and forums information and community takes serious work to put together.

ULTRA can change that by giving everyone a central place to congregate, do business and have fun all simaltaniously.

DPOS Hub is in the works - here are the details, is this something you could help with?

For the past three months, while the core devs have been working diligently to enhance, reinforce, and solidify the BitShares software protocol, my business partner Jonathan and I have been busy identifying and mapping a specific group of public relations and social media tools that will help support and strengthen the bonds of human relationships, both personal and professional, that are perhaps equally as vital to the success of BitShares.

In the following pages, we outline a plan for addressing some of the key difficulties our community has faced in attempting to generate PR traction both within and outside of the cryptosphere. We have identified three separate categories as they relate to the gathering and processing of information...
http://www.dposhub.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/dposhubdelegateproposal.pdf

We would love to colaborate on ULTRA with any teams attempting similar approaches, however it needs to be said that upon researching the subject,
nothing on the scale and with the ambiton that were aiming for here has been attempted.
DPOShub has maybe 1/4th of the ideas and features we plan to provide within one month of development,
our team has proven in multiple crypto-shpere projects that we can deliver high quality work in a very short amount of time.
To that end, it is our opinion that unless currently existing projects are within release-candidate stage,
the technology provided by ULTRA will be a far more efficent allocation of time and resources.

If we could just overcome the habit of "quote-entire-post-and-append-5%" and replace it with a like button, that change alone would probably save scroll wheels all over the world.

but we need it to bump stuff

Ideally, things like bumping and necroing posts will be obsolete in a system like ULTRA, while an approach needs to be more specificly outlined the idea of keeping
relavent data within arms reach is not an impossible task, features like view history, new content sections and the like can allow a user to always know whats going on when they are intrested,
also lets not forget that ULTRA aims to be part forum part social media, so following a topic or persons posts is very likely.

General Discussion / Re: What are we doing tonight Pinky?
« on: July 05, 2015, 01:51:48 pm »
Few minutes ago, I had amazing customer service on elegant theme`s forum.

I've got an idea:

I thought it would be cool if I could send a BitUSD micro payment to this guy to thank him. Just like with ChangeTip.

This guy would be probably happy to have free internet money and then he would be incentivized to go through the process to open a wallet. This wallet has this micropayment functionality and keeps track of the referrals the micropayment bring in.

This wallet would have to be great at inviting people with good copy and an easy sign up process. Then for a viral loop, it would invite the new user to start tipping other and participate in the profit sharing of the wallet. "When you tip and bring in new users, we reward you with x% of all their future transactions"

A smart contract with multisig between the wallet provider and the wallet referrer could split the referral rewards on a monthly basis with a pre-defined x% of it's referral transactions. Everytime someone sends a micropayment the wallet and it's the referrer earns.

The x% would be defined by what is needed for funding development while being high enough to incentivizing it's users to tip.

If such a feature existed in a wallet, a marketer could use this and build a business by signing up people by simply sending tips for good work on the internet. (Fiverr, Content, Youtube, twitter, reddit, email, etc)

Would that interest MoonStone @bitsapphire ?

Isnt this at the heart of ULTRA ? :)

I like this approach! I would think this could be worth a worker slot in 2.0 !

Dev'ing this will take a lot more than 600 USD for one, maintenance can smoothly happen with 600 USD if not less.
The point though, is , this can be a sustainable model via the transactions that occur on the platform itself, not to forget the referral system.
A central hub of sorts. I think its about damn time the crypto-sphere had one.

225
As far as I know my forum identity is not connected to my bit shares account,  if it was, I wouldn't like having other knowing how much money I have in the bank.

Yeh .  makes sense.  :)
