Wow, Simeon sounds really negative for someone with a stake in this. Have a little patience, people! You might be a billionaire in another year or two, but it's not gonna happen by this time next week! Regarding Stan's use of language, I don't think he's the one that's trying to catch people using a wrong word. He's trying to set the record straight when others twist his words (intentionally or not) into misunderstandings and rumors. If someone in his position is not careful, then pretty soon, these rumors about Invictus' 'promises' spiral out of their control. The last thing they want is people accusing them of over-promising. Goals matter, and Bitshares is aiming to deliver great things.

Billionaire in a year or two? What a joke!
Look around the Bitcoin 2.0 space, is it so hard to convince yourself that BitShares is the least competitive one (well, at least up til now)? I don't mean to say that to hurt this community, but come on! Your optimistic viewpoint should be based on real progress they've made instead of some blind belief, is it?
We should urge 3I to put themselves together and go for the right direction, instead of letting them to lead us by the nose.

Exactly.  Unfortunately you'll find (or at least I have) that if Invictus doesn't agree with you, your opinion doesn't much matter.  If you want to do something they already want to do, that could work.

Do I have to be dead serious with everything I write? Figure of speech, my friend. Obviously, I do believe Bitshares will be successful. Those other "2.0's" are child's play compared to what this will become: a paradigm changer.

Uh huh :)

BitShares AGS / Re: Crowdfunding using AGS?
« on: May 22, 2014, 11:40:20 pm »

No need to defend me Asenki,  if I wanted to "plug" my projects it seems obvious I'd do it somewhere more useful than here.  If they can't see I was illustrating the non-unique and urgent nature of that particular type of project, they're not listening.

Some of the posters on these forums are hilarious.  Daniel and Invictus make a big deal about how the best idea and execution should win, and yet choir here on the forum just can't help but prickle every time one of the broad archetypical ideas is implemented faster by someone actually concentrating on the problem.  I'll say it again: I'm helping everyone I can to launch a platform and succeed because the more competition the better the featureset of whoever wins the race will be.

You don't have to believe me, just like another random choirmember came to the amusing conclusion that because I invited the Beyond Bitcoin show built on the forums here (as my repeated suggestion and with my guidance) on our platform with thousands of new listeners, that this is somehow bad for Bitshares.

Of course, LTB doesn't ask for any ownership, written agreement or rights besides that the content be open sourced.... Once again, not about reality - only about the fact that the choir percieves a threat and attacks.

There will be many bitshares.me competitors, most of which will have their own token solution.  The question will be when does Bitshares.me come out, I suspect it will be quite late compared to the competition.

I was interested, but I can't say I have much interest in working with stuff on LTB network. I was more interested in seeing a 100% independent media source that was not beholden to projects who put ads on the show.

You may not like my perspective on this project but I'd challenge you to support this statement.

Commenting at Asenki's request

Asenki has correctly identified my concern - Invictus is the gatekeeper and specifically Daniel is the bottleneck.   I had hoped the Angelshares fund would be used to catalyze the ecosystem by making it clear there was financial incentive for people to build for it. In practice what we've seen it's used to fund company operations, lots of team members attending lots of conferences and the few people who met with Invictus at those conferences and who wanted to fit into a slot Daniel had already defined in his head then get some undefined amount of funding on non-public terms.     How's this working?  Look at the ecosystem, there isn't one.  Just Invictus.

These types of crowdfunding platforms are going to be coming out of the woodwork shortly, I'm working on one myself that uses the Angelshares daily crowdsale model (which is a great incentive structure) at http://coinpowers.com - There is another one that just raised a decent first round (mid six digits) that'll be launching soon.  All of these platforms (the "centralized ones") will have their own coins that give the holders of the coins a share of all successfully launched coins on the platform.

General Discussion / Re: MaidSafe IPO on Mastercoin
« on: May 22, 2014, 04:07:35 pm »
The question was always "will there be a MAIDSAFE network in 3 months, 6 months or never?"

The market right now is pricing for never, so if you agree with that assessment it's a good time to sell and if you disagree it's a good time to buy

In 3-6 months we'll know the answer.

If you know the answer tell me please.
Which ever is the answer, we have loosed allready money with this redicoulous IPO that has taking place with the "help" of mastercoin (lol) ...
Even if you think it is a good time to buy we have lost the half of "our" potential profits because if we wouldn't participate in the IPO we could get a least the double maidsafecoins than we have right now...now. And that is the best scenario or am I missing something !

Did you buy Maidsafe coins during the fundraiser and sell them already?  Based on your behavior here I assumed you as a buy-and-hold, although I guess you might have been scared out by the confusion.   You should expect to see this pattern with crowdsales of products people don't understand.  Hopefully, eventually, they'll stop buying ones they don't understand.  But probably not.

Snowballs = ponzi?

A ponzi is a hollow snowball where the appearance gets bigger and bigger but rather than robustness it is fragility because the structure is being removed from the inside as each new layer is built rather than being layered additively on top.

I think a snowball isn't a bad metaphor, but I think FounderShares is more consistent.

I'm not sure why this is better than Proof of Burn to an address, but I don't explicitly have a problem with it.  Anyone who has used the protoshares network for a transaction in the last few month knows this upgrade was inevitable, so no surprise there.

One question: Will INVICTUS be honoring PTS 1 or PTS 2 or both?  I think if Invictus does this with the announcement that the social contract is shifting from the PTS 1 vehicle to the 2 vehicle, PTS1 will die pretty quick.  If you're wishy-washy on this it'll hang around because it has potential value.

I'd support the burning of the unmined PTS and lacking that think they should be used for the long term bounty roadmap I've proposed before.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3448.msg43334#msg43334

I don't think Invictus should be in charge of how the funds are spent, they're a clear bottleneck towards the further development of the ecosystem since all roads must pass through Daniel's brain, it would be better if Invictus worked with the community to define this roadmap and its various components, then seeded it with this as the initial funding to get people working on even the far out stuff.

Regarding the name - Please do not name it PTS 2, or PTS anything or Bitshares anything.  Please create a new brand because the naming scheme is incredibly confusing even for people who pay close attention.

Can't wait for BTSX

Once "AGS" is released there will be many derivatives that trade on other protocols representing it.  "XAGS" or whatever

Indeed, what would you find an acceptable price  - $500? $1000?  $100,000?

People usually try to extract really high prices which can be percieved as opportunistic which is why perhaps you've had no takers.

I'm not  saying Invictus is doomed to fail, hell I've bought AGS every day this week including today.

 +5% +5% +5% +5% +5% +5% +5% +5% +5%

I want this quote to be moved on topic "marketing"...
This is a very bullish signal for PTS   :) :) :)

Please do not use this for marketing.  Have you not got that I feel trapped and that I'm just acting in my best interest given the situation as I see it?  If Invictus fails to deliver we're screwed anyways so its not like this is an act of support, the incentives they created make it better for me to give them back their PTS for a bigger share of AGS that will be valuable if they succeed.

The only thing that's bullish for PTS is Invictus is releasing the products that were promised and are overdue.

"What are you talking about?"   "AGS is obviously trapped and would be worthless if Invictus failed."

I am talking about the possibility Invictus will succeed... you will then rename the "trapped worthless AGS" to ... "blessed precious AGS"  :)

I'm not  saying Invictus is doomed to fail, hell I've bought AGS every day this week including today.  I'm saying that I do not have the choice of whether or not to withdraw my investment because their actions have devalued it to the point where it's not worth it until they launch.

That's different.

It's my hope that Bitshares XT and at least 1 or 2 other DACs will be launched and fully tested/debugged well before the Beyond Bitcoin conference in early July. That way, some Bitshares flagship DACs can be marketed in the lead-up to the conference. Even better if Bitshares X will have been launched by then, but that may be asking for a lot...

It'd be a shame not to use this giant, upcoming opportunity to showcase some things!

The Beyond Bitcoin conference was canceled as far as I know.

Deferred, not canceled, until we have several DACs in the top ten at coinmarketcap.com.   :)

lol

Hey Adam, I've been a listener since last mayish and I came here because of you. I'm not trying to attack you or anything, just wondering why you have such an attitude on these forums. Yes the products are late, we have also been kept up to date the whole time on the reasoning (DPOS) and progress being made. We are on the edge of breakthrough here and I can't figure out why you're being so negative. I'm not looking for a fight, I just want to know where your coming from?

Because Invictus has set and broken many many many self imposed deadlines, adopted an investment strategy I wholly disagree with and provided what I feel was a better and less restrictive (for invictus) model and feel their decision has delivered bad results with development dominated by the one player who already proved to miss deadlines and not be able to do many things at once.

Most recently, Dan has bet the entire project on an experimental lower level transaction processing technology (DPOS) before the actual point of the project (Betting, Assets, etc) can be developed.  This came after a previous attempt at doing the same thing with a new experimental lower level transaction processing technology (TAPOS) that was worked on for a few weeks and then abandoned when they ran into unforeseen problems.

There is nothing stopping that from being the case with DPOS, it just hasn't happened yet.   Even worse would be to launch quickly with the completely untested tech, have it "used with real money" as they say it needs to be in order to test it, and then people get that "real money" stolen due to a previously unknown exploit.

I'm a long time supporter, but projects like this have forum turnover where new users aren't aware of the history of promises made and broken before they joined the project.  With that context, things look less optimistic.  Invictus could turn things around but I'm results oriented and so far the results from invictus have been atrocious.

Now they've spent enough time and collected enough money that there is incredible pressure being brought to bear on them to produce results, I'm a squeaky wheel not Invictus's real problem by any means.  People do not develop well under that sort of pressure, I don't have high hopes.

I have been pounding on these same issues with Invictus for a very long time, so my exasperation is exactly that - exasperation.  It is frustrating as hell to see them walk into the same predictable landmines.  Do you know how long it took them to get a Blog to centralize important information about Bitshares for people who have invested?  Nearly six months. My concern about Angelshares is Invictus was on the one side making it harder for people to get them "for free" during the initial bootstrap of the Bitshares network, but also the risk of sucking up all the money available for investment and Invictus BECOMING the ecosystem rather than becoming a catalyzing player in the ecosystem.      We've now seen how Invictus becoming the ecosystem has smothered it since they have so much going on they don't have time to make good decisions to steward its growth.

I'm still here because, among other things, Bitshares is the only project who still holds my investment trapped.  Angelshares have not delivered as advertised, Protoshares have had their value smooshed so it's in my economic best interest to stick around and try to correct the boat on Bitshares.  I am a squeaky wheel, I'm not special but I do tend to be early so the fact that the situation with Invictus is as troubling to a guy like me should be a warning sign.

I can't quote from this thread, but you can see the early discussion about Invictus starting something like Angelshares. I went by Lighthouse at the time. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=1397.0

Ok. Thanks, now I understand where you are coming from. Those are valid points. The broken deadlines are also very frustrating for me. I see the progression of proof of.... as extremely important to both reinforcing the "company" metaphor, and ensuring that anyone who wants to launch a new chain can without worrying about mining and security. I'm not trying to counter your points as I think they are valid, I just draw a different conclusion. To me it seems that invictus made the mistake of promising deadlines while trying to push the envelope. They have failed to meet them, but it is hard to deny the progress that has been made, one can just check github. With DPOS we can have block chains compete at the service level as opposed to the block chain infrastructure level. It seems to me that we are right on the edge of a breakthrough in block chain tech that will result in a breakthrough in the 2.0 space (famous investor last words haha).  I guess we will see this weekend if DPOS holds up. That will be a deciding moment in this journey.

As far as your rep, I should have said I came here due to info I heard on your show. Obviously I don't hold you responsible for my crypto investments.

Yes except all you can do is see the progress Bytemaster has made, not the problems or issues he hasn't yet discovered.  You won't know about those until he does.  It was the same with TAPOS (Transactions as Proof of Stake) until it wasn't.  Things change fast so just because we're currently developing doesn't mean there isn't a show-stopper coming tomorrow.  This is new, untested tech - not even alpha, and only even conceptualized a month or two ago.

I've been waiting for the release of Bitshares now for several months, I don't even pay attention to the deadlines invictus sets for itself except to wave as they sail by on the side of the road.

I'm still here because, among other things, Bitshares is the only project who still holds my investment trapped.
I have lost a lot of money in the past because my investments was not "trapped"...
How would be the feeling to experience exactly the opposite?

What are you talking about?  If we hadn't had the PTS Snapshot event two months ago PTS would have kept their value and AGS would have been a more effective fundraiser.  Every other token I decide to own I have the ability to sell if the project concerns me to the point where I think my investment is unsafe.

If I lose money because I make a bad decision and don't take steps when they need to be taken, that is my fault.  If Invictus fails before launching the product they promised and I wanted to sell a month ago for concerns of this but they had taken steps to devalue my investment, I do not have that option.   AGS is obviously trapped and would be worthless if Invictus failed.  That is unique in the world of cryptocurrency and I think very negative as it insulates the team from the community repercussions of their decisions.  Again, look at how many people here aren't avid supporters who generally think Invictus is doing a good job.  By any quantifiable or comparable measure they are not.

When you say you want community inclusion but really just want community validation so it's not your fault but you get to do what you want, you tell people who actually have a valuable opinion that is not consistent with the leaderships that they should leave because they are not valued, they are inconvenient.  They are trolls or troublemakers, and so they leave.
