There's a huge buy order right now on Cryptsy worth 27 BTC.  I guess not everyone thinks this is a bad thing.

The market price of PTS going down does not reflect a loss in 'value' of PTS it is just forcing the market to more accurately price the value than all of the other coins out there by forcing 10K in sales each and every day.   The BTC Angel fund is sucking a lot of the buying demand from long-term investors which get a 2:1 deal by buying AGS rather than PTS.   Many that hold PTS may be selling it for BTC just so they can buy AGS and get a slightly better deal than sending PTS directly to the PTS AGS address.

I know this is my situation/motivation. I also hope to use it as an opportunity to buy up more PTS cheap once I can get my bitcoins out of another investment I made which is currently illiquid.

I think that MVP is a good idea, but I think it is important that we make it explicitly clear that this is a stepping stone, and a partial piece of code with infrastructure still being actively built out. Just very honest and up front is the best way to go.

You mentioned Ethereum. Could someone explain this in the common tongue? I have a limited understanding. I gather that it was conceived by Charles... ex ceo of invictus. I read the white paper and it seems like a very open DACP that allows people to build DACs as protocol layers within this more broad framework. Then I saw that it was going to be 25% pre mined, and I just wrote it off. Could anyone shed a little light on Ethereum for me?

Ethereum was conceptualized and created by Vitalik Buterin.   Charles joined the team this month in a senior role, the Ethereum ethos is very inclusive and they're looking to pull in as many partners as possible to help develop the ambitious project.

Charles and I had been talking about starting a company that builds IPOcoins for people in December until the Ethereum whitepaper started circulating, it's a very very ambitious project but could skip a lot of headache if it works.

Personally, I'm a fan of all the projects in the space.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Vitalik is a pretty rad dude. So lets say Ethereum takes off, does it rewrite the rules and swallow up projects like bitshares, and even potentially bitcoin itself? Will history have to bow into the fold of Ethereum or will it be just another way for people to play. It kinda sounds like tcp/ip(Ethereum) coming along after html(bitcoin). I realize that is a strange comparison as html wouldn't be that usefull if invented before tcp/ip, but what I'm getting at is is this a meta blockchain so to speak?

Aren't we the investors? I know I've sunk a good portion of my bitcoins into this project. Not that I was qualified or interested in being a part of that decision, just trying to figure out what you mean by investors.
I believe this refers to the investors that initially invested in Invictus, the company. This happened before Protoshares even existed.

Gotcha

BitShares AGS / Re: Should 3i stop BTC investment of AngelShares?
« on: January 11, 2014, 08:11:47 am »
it is absolutly impossible to change the condition midway. what do you talking about? it will damage the project over a point without return and will never get back the trust of anybody. you would have to refund every transaction. so now you have to think about what do you want? i like PTS more then AGS. If i need money or the project will go a way i don't like i can sell PTS and BTS. With AGS i am doomed forever  :) in good times and in bad times.

+1

I think that those who are talking about changing the funding methods don't really understand them fully.

is it expected that there will be more PTS or AGS in existence at the time BTS launches?

Is 4 million BTS all there ever will be or is that just the starting amount?

It will take about ~150 days for AGS to catch up to PTS in number available.  We are aiming for a release of the first BTS chain before then and will have a better idea of a target date in a few weeks.  We will give at least two weeks notice.

The first BTS chain will never have more than the 4 million shares it is born with.

If I may step in here, I believe there is some confusion around the term bitshares. BEXshares is the "first chain" and is the digital asset exchange. The next chain might be Luckyshares or Domainshares. All these DACs are "bitshares". "Bitshares BEX" is what people are mostly talking about when they say bitshares (at least right now).

I am right about this?

These are all great points. When thinking about the other side of the argument I have visions of FUD in the form of

"centralized"

"they changed what they originally sold shares for"

"they can't be trusted"

Just for reference what are we talking about here Dan? Like an MVP in Feb as opposed to a full product at the end of march? Where do you guys think our competitors will be along this timeline?

My name is Bo Shen, executive director and CEO Asia of 3i.

We have no bad blood with Charles on our side.

Regarding to the resignation of Mr.Charles Hoskinson, I would like to make a clarification:

The board of directors and investors unanimously agreed to ask for his resignation based on incompatibility with our company’s values and integrity.

Kinda makes me think of digital ocean. Could a service like digital ocean be set up as a DAC?

Keyhotee / Re: Keyhotee Status Update
« on: January 10, 2014, 10:38:35 pm »
That is the status of the OSX version of Keyhotee?

We're still doing alpha releases right now, so we're not focusing on multiple platforms too much yet. We're building Windows binaries,  but Linux and OSX have to be build from github source (both of these have been tested and do work fine). My team only has Windows and Linux boxes, bytemaster is the only OSX dev at Invictus currently, as far as I'm aware.

We're planning another alpha release this Friday with fixes for many of the issues reported for the first alpha, with a special emphasis on bugs related to profile creation problems (a few users had hangs while trying to create profiles).

So as a founder and a mac user, will I be able to register my name before the genisis block?

I think you're overestimating my impact, I am a very small amount of Bitcoin famous which is itself a subset of Internet famous.

Tech journalists often don't have good understanding of financial systems, I spend time helping people understand the important parts because it's important for the people explaining it to new audiences to actually understand it.

Having a project that rides the wave of Bitcoin and gives me a reason to be fully plugged in is without a doubt awesome.     I feel like I'm doing work that is important, and take a lot of pride in it.  The personal notoriety frankly is a liability because anyone who I alienate with my opinionated posting probably will stop listening to the show being upset with me.

My name is in this despite my preference, I want Cryptocurrency to reach the audiences it should, achieve the reach, and world changing significance it can.  I'm in this so long as I feel like I can help, and once the job is done I'm gone.
I put myself out there because trustworthy people are needed to evangelize this project and when I first started looking at Bitcoin, all those people were mostly shady.   I speak at conferences because if I don't do it, somebody else  will and chances are pretty good they'll not be introducing the ideas that I could.   In the next five months I'm speaking at four or five conferences, mostly about DACs because I want to get the idea out there as widely as possible so people will build it.   That's basically what I do all day, I talk to people and tell them ideas and connect dots.  I love that I do that all day, and I love that Cryptocurrency is a paradigm that allows me to just decide I want to do this one day in April and be as successful as I'm able.

tl;dr - Yes I like the work and project, no I don't like the personal notoriety

Your Keyhotee podcast with Dan is what brought me here. Way back in nov or maybe sept. So thank you I guess. If I didn't hear it on your show I probably would have bought in at .03 instead of .01.

I have already been in touch with him.

I think AdamBLevine loves the spotlight

On the bitcointalk post charles alludes to making keyhotee/bitshares irrelevant. Can anyone shed some light on what he is talking about in a non biases way?
