I asked around , some people don't mind the current rule , but they simply don't want to short because they're afraid that their short order would get lost due to some bugs .

They would want to short if this issue is solved .
Hu? There is no such issue .. shorting works just fine ..

I have managed to send a couple of transactions but they don't appear. Is that because the transaction scanning is in progress?
Yes.

I wonder if it would be faster with TOR?

nope... sometimes just need a server closer

Somebody from Chinese BitShares community just needs to fork the faucet's source code here https://github.com/BitShares/web_services, run own server and provide core developers with it's url so they can add its support to the wallets.

BTW you can easily translate faucet to Chinese by editing this file https://github.com/BitShares/web_services/blob/master/faucet/config/locales/zh.yml
Sounds interesting. Will ask some members.
I think bts.hk may have interest.

Could the decentralised exchange (DEX) potentially have more universal appeal if we allowed:

1) Trading assets against bitUSD (or other bit currencies).

There first one is possible and already there, but not so active as BTS pairs though.
In the wallet, click 'Exchange' tab, search for 'BTSBOTS:BitCNY'. The 'BTSBOTS' or 'BitCNY' could be any asset, as long as there are people be willing to trade on that pair.

Buy BDR.TSLA asset.
Ah, there is no such asset. @James should create it.

Looks like he did, but what's the point?

http://bitsharesblocks.com/asset/info?asset=BDR.TSLA

For those assets to be interesting they need to be market assets, as long as they're just user assets whoever controls them can just "print" as many as they want and sell them.. This applies to BRD.AAPL, .GOOG etc..

It's said that LibSecp256k1 is much faster than OpenSSL while verifying signatures. By using it we can improve the client sync speed much, which is a bottleneck by now.

Just did a benchmark on libsecp256k1's current master, without GMP, without hand-written assembly, and it's around 3.6x faster than OpenSSL on my machine (64-bit code, i7 cpu). When the assembly is compiled in (which does not require any extra dependencies anymore), it's 4.9 times faster.
