And on top of that there's the PTS --> DPOS-DAC changes coming up by year end. Just not sure what makes sense now. I probably should have split my BTC into both PTS and BTSX rather than only BTSX?

You thoughts on this most welcome...

It is a tough call. I think btsx has more upside given it is more developed and more ready for adoption.  And there is a conference going on.  Who knows? It could come in a big wave.  If history is to repeat, PTS would start sliding down soon and would go down a lot more after the snapshot.

Even though mining is unprofitable, at some point there must be a level where people just refuse to sell anymore.
..

Unprofitable for some but not all.  There will also be people who can gain from mining and dump their mined coins. ASICs will get more efficient ($ per hash wise) and there are places with cheap or zero electricity cost.

KeyID / Re: I got DNS now, but I have a question.
« on: October 05, 2014, 07:46:17 am »
I donated AGS in may. And I imported my key into KeyID, and got shares.

Did I just spend all my AGS into DNS? No more shares for future DACs?

Your AGS can still be used for future DACs.  That is the cool thing about AGS.  Keep it safe!  :)

Or: How can I check whether the blockchain has been downloaded completely?
I do that by checking whether my btsx app folder gets bigger but I am sure there is a more elegant way...
I didn't find it here http://www.bitsharesblocks.com/home
Atm my .bitsharesx folder is already 13 GB. Is it really that big?
edit: 18 GB by now...?

Go to the Console page:

Type 'info' and press enter.

You should see something like: "blockchain_head_block_age": "6 seconds old"

If the age is too long, that means your blockchain is out of syn.

If you the above helps, please vote for delegate bitcube.

Cheers!

I took your advice and installed v 4.20 and now it's "Not Connected" and doesn't seem to be doing anything.  Any advice now?

Thanks!

Try this:

1) Open Windows Explorer. Go to %appdata%\BitShares X
2) Backup your wallet folder by making a folder copy to another location
3) Delete everything EXCEPT your wallet
4) Launch the wallet app. You will see 'Not Connected'.  Wait for about 10 to 30mins and it will start to sync.

If you the above works for you, please vote for delegate bitcube.  :)

KeyID / Re: Market cap prediction based on PTS price change

Based on the DNS allocation, 40% for PTS

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=6753.0

Now the price is around 200-300 satoshi. Go to 3000!

I see.  Thanks for the explanation.

@toast

I have setup the site http://bit.cubeconnex.com:5555 for Get Free KeyID.  Could you please check if it is working as you have intended?  Thanks in advance!

Worked for me to register my KeyID.

Edit: I got a response from the service saying it worked ("Done! Your KeyID account is now registered."), but my registration didn't stick on the blockchain. So I redact my previous statement. Thanks for running the faucet anyways.  ;)

Thanks for the feedback.  I tried and have the same result too.  I am not sure how the faucet app suppose to do after the 'Done!' message.  I hope toast could give me some guidance here.

Edit:

@toast

The log from the console shows a successful HTTP POST.  However the registration is not showing in the blockchain.

GET /user 200 36.292 ms - 110
POST /register-account 200 76.044 ms - 16

Getting the subdomain to propagate is taking way longer than expected, once it's up you can access the site at:

http://dns.bitsharesblocks.com

For now though if you're impatient just go to:

http://104.131.241.162/home

http://104.131.241.162/home is not working now.

I decided to use 90% of profit for Korean crypto community (both in here and www.ddengle.com) as the first and only delegate of KeyID
If you think this is good, please vote for me.

You have my vote.   +5%

I calculated DNS market cap for fun.

The calculation is,
(Max PTS price between 8/1~21 - PTS price at 8/1) * amount of PTS / proportion of PTS in DNS

That is,
(0.0089 - 0.0065) * 1,700,000 / 0.4 = 10200 BTC (approx.)  -> 204 satoshi per DNS

This did not consider VOTE. But I believe DNS will rise up to my calculation.

Interesting.

How do you derive the figures for "amount of PTS / proportion of PTS in DNS"?

I have posted in the marketplace seeking to buy DNS - https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9661.0  and top up the coffer.

I just realise delegate bitcube has started producing blocks which means a stream of DNS will be coming in soon.  I am very much encouraged! Many thanks for your kind votes and support!

With your crucial support and votes, delegate bitcube will be able to fulfill its mission - to promote Bitshare DNS and attract new users.  Looking forward to a bountiful of new happy users.   :)

I just setup a delegate bitcube with a faucet at the following URL:

http://bit.cubeconnex.com:5555

I am creating a new twitter, google and facebook accounts to facilitate this faucet.  The layout and design will be enhanced later.

I clicked on the Twitter link and got this:

Code: [Select]
Error: Failed to validate oauth signature and token
   at Strategy.parseErrorResponse (/root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/lib/strategy.js:178:10)
   at Strategy.OAuthStrategy._createOAuthError (/root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/node_modules/passport-oauth1/lib/strategy.js:349:16)
   at /root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/node_modules/passport-oauth1/lib/strategy.js:218:41
   at /root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/node_modules/passport-oauth1/node_modules/oauth/lib/oauth.js:543:17
   at passBackControl (/root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/node_modules/passport-oauth1/node_modules/oauth/lib/oauth.js:397:13)
   at IncomingMessage.<anonymous> (/root/keyid-faucet/node_modules/passport-twitter/node_modules/passport-oauth1/node_modules/oauth/lib/oauth.js:409:9)
   at IncomingMessage.EventEmitter.emit (events.js:117:20)
   at _stream_readable.js:920:16
   at process._tickCallback (node.js:415:13)

This error occurred because I did not have a google or twitter account then.  I have registered both twitter and google accounts.  The authentication is working now.
