Muse/SoundDAC / Community assistance: Contacting Exchanges to list MUSE
« on: October 15, 2015, 05:54:03 pm »
Hi everyone!

If anyone knows of any crypto exchanges that are already upgrading to Graphene to allow BTS 2.0 to trade. You can do three things to help.

1. Contact them yourself if you know them and tell them about MUSE coming out on the 26th of October.
2. List them here. That way someone that does know someone on the inside in the exchanges can get in touch and spread the gospel that is MUSE.
3. PM their contact info and I can get in touch

If you wish to contact them directly, let them know we are basically a clone of BTS 2.0 and so if they already set themselves up to list BTS 2.0, MUSE will be no different.

This can help!

Cheers guys!
Let's get MUSE listed everywhere.

To ensure we all understand each other (:

MUSE is a Membership Organization

Members are those that hold the Core Units simply called MUSE

Witnesses are the nodes that produce blocks

Committee Advisers or simply Advisers and those that propose changes to the protocol

Anyone express an interest in being a Witness for MUSE when it launches on the 26th?

Anyone have recommendations on who would be a badass at the job? If so, link them to this thread!

I think the solution to MUSE_USD lies in its use.
How will users pay for MUSE? Can they use PayPal or credit card to purchase MUSE (formerly NOTES) via PeerTracks? If so wouldn't PayPal_USD ≈ CORE_USD? In my mind MUSE_USD would simply act as a basket of currencies denominated in "_USD" throughout the ecosystem.

People wishing to buy music, merch, concert tickets, tip, patron, etc. whether doing it on PeerTracks or any other website that connects to MUSE can do so using Smartcoins/MPA.

In this way, both consumers and creators (artists) do business in a currency they are used to (the USD for example)
No need to understand crypto currency, blockchain or any of that "nonesense"
Products are denominated in familiar ways (as opposed to paying 0.00017BTC for a song download) and of course they are shielded from volatility associated with crypto or stock markets.

So the muse_USD will be currency of the music industry... Collateralized by the MUSE core units.

Make sense?

Let's see.
MUSE would enable the flourishing of an ecosystem for the music world.
By being the foundation for the music biz.
By being open, transparent and permanent.

Logo might reflect:
-Solid foundation
-Flourishing of art (artists/bands/musicians & businesses/services)
-ecosystem

This should help with ideas!

tonyk do you have a proposed solution for a stable crypto that can be used by the music industry?

The only "solution" I see is a merger with the main BTS chain. So coding up the Automatic Royalty Payment Splitter into BTS 2.0 and having everything run on Bit_USD (collateralized by BTS)
This would be great for liquidity no doubt and make it cheaper (less nodes to pay) and grow the network effect. But there are a bunch of other problems imo.
1st We want MUSE to be a blockchain for the Music industry. Meaning a global database that finally takes care of the mess with global royalty payments and copyrights for music.
2nd have it "owned" by the music industry.  The "board of directors" aka people that have been delegated voting power (through proxy voting) should know a thing or two about that ridiculously complicated world.
3rd The business model of BTS is different. BTS has high fees and paid memberships with the referral program. It makes total sense when you are undercutting E-trade, Questrade and the like. But we are entering a different market. We want fees to be a competitive as possible in the music market. We want little Jimmy to trade his Beiber Notes with little Jenny from his mobile App without paying 20 cents or buying a lifetime membership at 80$.

What are your thoughts? A separate blockchain to me seemed like the best solution for our needs. But I'm not the smartest guy in the room by a long shot! Long long long shot :)

We'll be bigger than MUSE the band. Don't worry (:

I understand your concern though. I'm pretty sure we will turn up fairly easily in search results once the official site is up and the blockchain is running.

Muse/SoundDAC / MUSE LOGO (suggestions from community)
« on: October 08, 2015, 09:09:29 pm »
Hi guys, pretty self explanatory.

Any ideas for a MUSE logo?

In a nutshell, it aims to be the foundation on which the new entertainment industry would build off of.
Does not need to be ultra music centric. It should be attractive to music yes, but to anyone that has a fan base.
Talent discovery
Fan engagement
Transfer of wealth in the entertainment business.

Logo! LOGO!

museUSD will be backed by MUSE .. fees are payed/burned in MUSE (finally)

Thats a better value proposition than bitcoin! Satisfied?

so do you say NOTE will become MUSE?

Yes. This is how it works:

After the MUSE chain is launched, you will download and install the new MUSE wallet. Then, you will import your private keys from your BitShares wallet (which contains your NOTES). This will unlock (from the MUSE genesis block) 1 MUSE for each 1 NOTE that you own.

Then, the BitShares 1.0 blockchain will die/become irrelevant, and the NOTE UIA on this old chain will be worthless. So in a way, you are correct. The NOTE on BitShares 1.0 will be worthless, once the value is transferred to MUSE.

After this, MUSE value will likely increase, since the utility of the MUSE core asset is much greater than the utility of the NOTE on bts 1.0, which was really just a placeholder so that people could begin trading and speculating.

Perfect answer right there!

Had a look at WeTube/BitCloud.. meh

Chris at MediaGoblin however (http://mediagoblin.org/pages/campaign.html) said we should have a look at this:
http://w3c-social.github.io/activitypump/

..WAY over my head. Is this W3C thing a threat to PeerTracks?

Cool project. This is different to what we are trying to do, obviously. And that project would disrupt the entire internet, not just PeerTracks. It's quite ambitious indeed!

Right now we are doing 2 things. MUSE would be something that the Music industry could use for a foundation (no stable, permanent, open, global and transparent currently exists for that industry) for payments of royalties, tickets, merch, music, and it would provide plenty of data for all to use.
PeerTracks on the other hand would be the retail, streaming, discovery and engagement app that just so happens to use the MUSE data. We would be changing the way the entire internet works! Just a cool new site to do cool new stuff on.

This is a short update. Sorry I didn't take any pictures at this event.

We started off thursday night at a cocktail + diner for all the speakers and panelists. Was great to meet all of the attendees, a bunch of well connected individuals as far as the music industry goes. A few of them were at MIDEM last june and recognized us and "the P" haha

The next day was the actual event. The morning was a bunch of Panel talks, the one Eddie was on was crazy! It was almost a reality show lol. Eddie wanted to steer it towards laymen's terms but the moderator tried to bring it into cryptoland. The audience wanted to hear Eddie talk and see our MUSE infographic since 95% of the audience had no idea what the concept of a blockchain even was. All in all that "trainwreck" of a panel was GREAT for us since everyone wanted to speak to us the entire afternoon to learn more about "what that guy (moderator) wouldn't let the panelist touch on"
Although hilarious and entertaining, I initially saw the panel as a negative for us. I was incredibly/pleasantly surprised by everyone's reaction afterwards! We got so many more speaking opportunities because of it! So I guess we should thank that moderator for Jerry Springer-ing it up!

The afternoon was a workshop for multiple little groups to try and solve the music industries problems. We instead took the time to mingle with the cool kids and that really paid off. Near the end they opened up the bar and the networking was cranked up a notch!

Very productive event overall. The PeerTracks team came out of this much stronger, with a few potential new players and partners. It was in my opinion even more valuable to us than MIDEM, and that was HUGE.

Now we are preparing for the next event in Washington DC on the 26th and 27th. They will see "The P" there again, only this time we will have launched the famed MUSE blockchain! We aren't just talking pie in the sky theory here, WE WILL HAVE DONE IT!

Muse/SoundDAC / NOTE Snapshot and MUSE launch date!
« on: October 05, 2015, 05:13:34 pm »
Hi everyone!

I’ll first begin with the big news. Sticky-worthy news. I’ll make a separate post to describe what went on in Boston for those that are interested.

Snapshot!

Prepare yourselves for the Snapshot! It will take place October 13th, the same time as the BitShares 0.9. to BitShares 2.0 Snapshot. To make it easier for everyone, including devs, there will be JUST ONE SNAPSHOT to worry about, and that, I repeat, will be on the 13th of October.
So make sure your Notes are off the (centralized) exchanges and into your personal BitShares wallets by that date.

Those that weren’t aware, you should upgrade your BitShares desktop client from 0.9.2 to 0.9.3. The reason being it will be easier to import your private keys to the Graphene chain (MUSE) when the time comes.

So in a Nutshell:
  • Go to https://bitshares.org/download/ and download BitShares 0.9.3
  • Then, if you have Notes on an external/centralized exchange, go to that/those exchanges and transfer all Notes to your own wallet (version 0.9.3.)
  • Once your Notes are in your possession, in your new desktop wallet, click “File” and “Export Wallet” and save that .json file to your computer (or somewhere super duper trooper safe)
This is the file you will need to import in the MUSE wallet.

MUSE will be launched on October 26th!

So get the word out to all your crypto connections. We will require Witnesses and Committee Advisers to “run” the chain. We will also need some traders to start a market for muse_USD. We also want exchanges to list MUSE to enable as many onramps as possible for the crypto trading crowd.
Our partners at CCEDK have already committed to listing the Muse core asset on both its centralized exchange service and Open Ledger.

You can also reach out to any press contact you know of and tell them the news. Tell them to message me directly to get the info straight from the source and ask a me bzillion questions if they so desire. Give them the info at peertracks dot com email address or the cedric at peertracks dot com email address.

Let’s make a splash!

Please note that this does not mean that the full-blown PeerTracks website will be released and operational by the 26th. We still have some work to do on that side. But we will be able to start signing up artists, create their Notes and have them trading on the REAL chain.

The take away from all this?
Snapshot on the 13th of October
MUSE launch on the 26th of October
Basic invite-only PeerTracks platform to test out the final MUSE Graphene chain with pioneer artists!

More updates coming very soon!

« on: September 29, 2015, 02:43:06 pm »
Eddie and I are Shipping out to Boston  in two days to attend the Fair Music Public Forum held by Berklee’s Rethink Music.

A bunch of people are meeting to discuss this paper and to find a solution to the problems of the music world.

Well we pretty much have it. And want to explain how MUSE works and announce when it will officially launch.
Should be interesting!

Will update you in about 7 days once the dust as settled.
