General Discussion / Re: Cryptohedge and the bter hack
« on: March 13, 2015, 02:16:45 am »
We're still trying to actually get withdrawals through. Once we have our gold and bitUSD out we will do a full calculation of losses and liabilities. Right now it looks as if about 30% of all CFSGOLD and CFSUSD funds have been turned into bter BTC IOU's that cannot be withdrawn from bter but supposedly will become real BTC over time through income from trading fees. We then have to figure out a way we can allow people to withdraw both their bitgold/bitusd and their portion of the IOU, something that can't yet be done with UIA's.

It's like people don't even realise that the web wallet is out, and that it works perfectly!

General Discussion / How to use the web wallet brain keys?
« on: March 07, 2015, 12:33:35 pm »
I really love the new web wallet and I feel like bitshares is finally ready for mainstream users.

However I can't see if there's an option to move a web wallet from one computer to another via the brain key. Is there a guide on how to do this anywhere?

Good news?  They likely processed this stuff manually.  The fact they are changing plans means that maybe they realized people were just happy to remove all their coins when given a chance.  (I've been waiting.)  They're going to rebuild it now?  Huh?  Well let people continue to remove their coins and then when you have a rewrite done open back up.

This is just an excuse to not pay people and is NEVER good news except that snapshots now have a >0% chance of being delivered.

Yep. This is a stalling tactic and not good.

This is awesome, I like the easy to see spreads too!
Do you know when Bitgold will be included?
I know cryptohedge were working on providing liquidity for that but did take a hit with Bter getting hacked.

We will not be able to add bitgold until the bter situation is resolved. But once that's done (assuming we get altcoins back) we probably can get it up and running quickly.

General Discussion / [ANN] Cryptohedge brings bitUSD to Metaexchange!
« on: February 28, 2015, 10:11:07 pm »
Hello everyone,

Metaexchange and Cryptohedge have been working together for the past week to integrate Cryptohedge as a bitUSD liquidity provider, and we are now ready to unveil the Metaexchange bitUSD bridge. This bridge is jointly operated by Metaexhange and Cryptohedge, with Metaexchange providing the platform and service, and Cryptohedge providing liquidity from our CFSBTC and CFSUSDA funds.

The goal of this service is to make it as easy as possible to instantly get into the bitshares decentralized exchange and start trading. The plan is also to use the API to integrate it directly with the upcoming wallet by Elmato in order to enable sending and receiving bitcoins that are automatically converted to bitUSD seamlessly, with high liquidity and low spread, so the average cryptocurrency user can now have easy access to hedged bitcoin account.

Considering the recent release of the web wallet wallet.bitshares.org, the decentralized exchange experience will soon be as smooth as any centralized exchange. If you want to check out the service, please go to https://metaexchange.info/ and try it out (also check out the new BTC/BTS instant conversion). Please note that it is still in beta and has low limits and a high spread. It will gradually be improved over time as we optimize it for the best possible user experience.

General Discussion / Re: No Bitassets on shapeshift

We have up a beta version of our gateway/bridge where you can convert from bitcoin and bitassets now. Please test with only small quantities for now. It's here: http://blocktrades.us

Are you going to add DRK, DOGE, and even Ripple?
We'll probably add most any coin that seems likely to generate some volume. Bitcoin-compatible and Bitshares-compatible ones are the easiest to add right now, since we already have client proxies to talk to those wallets, but it's not very difficult to add others.

Why are the spreads so outrageously high for your btc IOU? you should set them really low to attract liquidity, especially in the beginning.

Shapeshift works by running a bot that buys or sells on the market whenever someone buys or sells from them. When a given asset has no active markets that they have a bot for, they are not able to offer their service. Bter was the only place they could source their bitUSD before, now that it's gone they have no way to offer it until they make a yunbi bot, however that will probably still take a while.

General Discussion / Re: CNY Volume

Probably just due to self-shorting. Volume is higher than supply, which is pretty unlikely to be organic volume.

Please tell me how you plan to get your money into the decentralized exchange if there's no open orders on poloniex or btc38. Or even better, how do you expect new users who have no experience with bitshares, who don't even know what the decentralized exchange is, to get their money on to it?

Sorry, I'm just venting about bter, thats all. :)

Maybe large liquid bitcny, bitusd, bitwhatever bridge?

We're working with metaexchange to achieve just this. It would really be the dream if we could one day get completely rid of our reliance of the centralized exchanges.

We all need to remove every single BTS we own from all exchanges.

When we want to buy BTS, we deposit money on the exchange, buy BTS, and immediately remove it.  Always.  Immediately.

When we want to trade we use the Bitshares Decentralized exchange exclusively.  Only ever send BTS back to exchanges for permanent cashing out.

Please give me a time machine so I can go back and do this with bter.  I will only ever use the decentralized exchange ever again.  Hopefully many of us will learn this lesson from the bter hack in a way that doesnt cost us much except for pain, or a little BTC.  I don't ever plan to have much BTS on an exchange for more than like an hour or so, ever again.

@Rune   Can you please tell me how to deposit to poloniex? Somehow I am missing it.

Go to balances (top right corner), my balances, and then search for BTS or BTC.

any ETA on the yunbi web wallet?

74
I just signed up at poloniex.com

But, I can't see how to deposit. Could you point it out to me please.

what about cfsgold etc. ? Can you establish on poloniex the market makers you said with riverhead?

Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 997D

We'd be happy to do that once bter gives us the bitgold back... We assume that CFSUSD and CFSGOLD will have to take a haircut of some percentage and most people will probably want to withdraw after that. But we plan to continue as soon as we get the funds back. I've also just contacted poloniex again regarding integrating bitUSD. Won't ask them for bitgold until we actually have any..
