General Discussion / Re: New Stealth Transfer Worker ($1000)
« on: November 23, 2015, 04:55:32 pm »
In my opinion this is free money. We get someone who need this feature so much that he is ready to risk $45k to get it done.

This private party deserve to receive a royalty in the future of this feature, just like the when the shareholder pays for a feature. It's no different in my opinion.

I say take that money and get it done!

Welcome to our community. :)

I don't know much about NXT but I've heard they are a great group of innovators.

#btstip "sepehr"  1 HIGHFIVE

Thanks dud!
What is this? something to reward forum members or more?

I call them "emotokens", some are funny and some are simple tokens of appreciation. It's a #PayItForward kind of thing.

Technical Support / Re: Blockchain wont sync in 0.9.3c
« on: November 23, 2015, 04:33:29 am »
I set up an account in 0.8.0 last spring
I am trying to set up 0.9.3c to move my BTS into so that I can
then move on to 2.0.
I cannot get the blockchain to sync, it actually is going in reverse, syncing
successively earlier dates.
How can this be.

Once the blockchain is downloaded from the website tuck provided, type in the console.

Technical Support / Emotokens / UIA swapbot
« on: November 23, 2015, 02:38:24 am »
okay, I would like to have a swapbot that automatically swap any emotoken that I choose 1:1.

How would I go about doing that or how much should I expect to pay for something like this. Either something I can embed in an iframe or a wordpress plugin.

Hi everybody,
I'm interested in integrating Bitshares into the Tokenly open source ecosystem.  We have no budget or personnel to accomplish this right now (just started our angel round, part time founders only and three main products) so I'd like to ask for your help in with either donations, development time or  possibly voting in some Tokenly delegates if that is the preferred way to help new developers get started.

You can visit our "startupey" page at www.tokenly.com but the bottom line is we're building what I call the Global Digital Barter Economy where individual companies create and use personalized tokens to represent pre-paid units of their goods and services.  Tokenly makes it very easy to automate the things that you need as a merchant or individual in order to have a functioning, automated commercial ecosystem.  Swapbot vending machines (selling tokens), Tend stores (selling items, accepting tokens and other forms of money) and the Tokenly Pockets (holding and using tokens) wallet.  We also have the LTB Auctioneer, mass distributor and a handful of other prototype tools and protocols.

We've been in a quiet alpha since July and are getting ready to launch our first open alpha, I'd like to look at the feasibility of integrating Bitshares into our vending machine system, browser extension wallet and store system.  I suspect the store will be easiest, wallet next and the vending machine will require some creative thinking since we try to do everything on the blockchain and obviously this will involve bots that bridge at least two blockchains.

If Bitshares is as useful as it seems, its a shame it doesn't get more use and I think the tools we've built at Tokenly would add a lot of valuable use-cases to the Bitshares ecosystem.  I look forward to your thoughts.

I have been waiting for tokenly for a while. So far, I have enjoyed the approach that metaexchange(METAFEE), openledger(Obits) and ShareBits. I am pretty sure people would love to have a piece of the pie. When they have one, they will promote you when the opportunity arise.

This way you could get the funds you need to either hire CNX or Freebie Server to help with integration and development.
I would definitely buy some TOKENLY if the opportunity arise.

General Discussion / Re: NuShares price discussion

Buy backs are irresponsible for young businesses.

BM made an important point when he stated the difference between decentralized and centralized businesses is that centralized structures were more often trusted and legal. This also has implications for shareholders and how they value a decentralized business. (They are less trusted and there is less legal fall-back.)

We are put in a situation of competing head-to-head with centralized exchanges which are trusted, fast, and legal.

Limited buybacks & dividends are a great way of increasing confidence among shareholders in a young decentralized business.  (As opposed to concerns over constant dilution/conflicts of interest/overcharging/CNX piggy-bank/14 month share decline - leading some to question if there will ever be profits and if there are will CNX just find a way to divert them to 'development' for the foreseeable future. )

The second benefit to buybacks for a decentralized business at this point in time is a marketing one. There is a limited amount of capital looking to invest in this area and a lot of competitors. Rising in the rankings is a great way to gain increased exposure, attention & as a result potential investment.

I am in favor on BTS buyback for 2 reasons. For one, people may be feeling better paying 0.1 BTS in fees than 40BTS. That's just psychological. Secondly, it makes current shareholders happy. Finally, for marketing purposes it can else increase exposure.

I have yet to look at the downside.

I left my comment talking about openledger, metaexchange and Obits.

General Discussion / Re: [ANN - AMA] bitCash - Digital Money of the Future!
« on: November 22, 2015, 11:20:52 pm »
Count me in if you've not yet reached the magic number?

The name is very good when considering a global perspective. I hope it'll make it very simple and cheap to buy from merchants/pay people for services the world over.

@hadrian You're in!

Yes that's the plan to make it a dominant payment platform.

Have you considered using the currency sign somehow in the graphics?

Unicode info is here.

Intersesting.  I like the symbol.  Reminds me of ubuntu.  We may use this down the road for something so thanks!

You said that you are a simple bitUSD-only wallet provider. Is this a kind of "keep it simple stupid" approach, or do you have other specific reasons for limiting your remit?

If things really take off in the future, and other 'bitCurrencies' gain huge liquidity, would you expand to include these?

Yes bitUSD is a start to keep it extremely simple and focused, but we will probably expand sooner than later in bitEUR/bitCNY and develop partnerships in Europe and China.

Historically cash has been a great way to transact, offering a lot of privacy. What will be the stance of bitCash on privacy? Do you expect to add privacy features to the wallet for example? I suppose it will depend in part upon how BitShares progresses, but do you have any fundamental views or approaches in this regard?

Yes we'll want to add stealth transactions eventually, but the first wallet is geared towards the mainstream public so ease-of-use will be the primary concern.    I think privacy in various forms are very important , starting from 'Defensive Privacy' and that's where stealth transactions help: http://www.lifewithalacrity.com/2015/04/the-four-kinds-of-privacy.html

Blockchains are built around anti-censorship rather than privacy so we'll have to start with that.  Our simple wallet will use Facebook authentication to make it extremely easy so in some ways will have slightly less ''personal & contextual privacy' than Bitcoin.  We will have more 'personal & contextual privacy' than the popular Venmo which takes the approach of intentionally sharing what specific transactions people in your network are making.   We want to cater to the mainstream with our first simple/'spending cash'/'money clip' wallet.   However we expect people with larger amounts of money & merchants/businesses will use some form of stealth transactions and create more pseudonymous accounts to complement their spending wallet.

I really like the approach. I know that if I had a free wallet for bitUSD and that I was offered to "upgrade" to get more features such as stealth transaction...I would buy in a heartbeat!

General Discussion / Re: Reverse bitshares stock split?
« on: November 22, 2015, 11:10:03 pm »
A reverse stock split where the number bitshares is reduced but the same value is kept could be useful from a marketing perspective.

if for every 3 bts owned people got 1 bts the value of 1 bts would be about a cent and easier to think about.
Also a sub 1 billion number of shares in existence maybe more appealing to some people.

http://people.opposingviews.com/primary-purpose-stock-split-5413.html

It may be more appealing also to have 0.2BTS fees rather than 40BTS...purely from a psychological perspective.

I don't not know what could be the negative impact of such move. I would like to know what @bytemaster and other old timers think of the idea.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares 2.0 Roadmap (for the next 4-6 months)
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:04:01 pm »
Well I also think the chatbox is needed, a lot. People tell about wanting core users, well, those will hang out on the chatbox.

I second that  +5%

Users need easy access support without leaving the client.

we can't add a 3rd party to the wallet. that's the deal here.

I think it can't get easier than to go to openledger.info and click on the chat button to get in touch

Could the function be there so that each wallet provider can have it's own support?

A chatbox isn't seen as a priority by many people here but this is exactly what we need  as it will be an integrated customer service. The community is customer service and it doesn't need to be paid for.  Also coming back and to from this forum to the exchange isn't good. we need realtime support.

#sharebits "JhonnyBitcoin" 1 THANKYOU

I agree this is the best way to go about support(chatbox)...rather than jumping in and out of the exchange for it. Help should be 1 click away.

But I think someone should be paid for their work because otherwise the support will have very fluctuating quality. Time and skills should be paid for.

Freebie / Re: Project BtsTip [freebie]
« on: November 22, 2015, 06:55:37 pm »
Hold On!  No one has brought up Facebook??  BtsTip needs to monitor all posts on this forum and look for tip commands right?  It is not practical to monitor all of Facebook.  Unless of course you connect to BTS Tip!  Now the tip bot can see all posts from anyone wanting to use it then send a private message to any new person that receives a tip.  Talk about virial...   I have not checked the APIs, but I bet something can be worked out.   What do you think?  Does access to 1.55 billion monthly active users sound good?

It may be possible for the tipbot to post a reply to the original tip message.  It shouldn't spam all of its connections with non-friended tip confirmations.

p.s. I hope this earns me a tip  ;)

@fav had a great idea of sending an auto-tweet to anyone following him with "Thank you for following! @user #sharebits 10 MEGUSTA " A great way to introduce people to the idea.

actually, I do it by hand. wanted to automate it with ifttt, but I think twitter does not allow this kind of stuff anymore.

I'm testing https://unfollowers.com/ will see if I can make it work
