General Discussion / Re: Marketing Proposal - Our Unfair Advantage
« on: September 12, 2014, 11:07:55 pm »
The gays name is Jay Abraham but it doesnt matter it could be someone else.

I have recomended him because of his background and because I am his fan.
You can find more information here http://www.abraham.com/ and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Abraham

He works basically on fixed fee plus percentage of profits. Fixed fee is to be negotiated and percentage of profit could be provided by his own BTSX holdings.

General Discussion / Marketing Proposal - Our Unfair Advantage
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:43:38 pm »
This thing bothers my mind since I got the potential of BisharesX. This project has made innovation by the level of expertise which is considered a cutting edge in the industry. It could change our society in a way any other man made thing has never done before.

Yet marketing of such treasure is on the level of a corner store.

I don’t mean to underestimate huge marketing effort from I3 and community members which I greatly respect, but this isn’t just enough for desired attention in today’s busy world. It lacks systematic and carefully designed marketing plan followed by killer execution of previously tested tools, tracked and calibrated in the move.

I thing BitsharesX deserves no less than cutting edge marketing effort provided by professionals, people with similar level of talent and expertise, like BM and other members of community provided on innovation side.

Now if this make sense to you, then we could discuss how to do it.

I have made proposal recently in one of my posts but such proposal didn’t drove any serious attention.
The proposal was simple. We should hire proven marketing expert. The benefits of such strategic alliance could be mutual.
In my estimation we should need about 1% of market cup.
I have suggested a name which I believe could accept the offer, but this could be discussed leather if my proposal makes sense.

Now, I am willing to donate 1% of my current BTSX holdings to an escrow that could be I3 or anybody else that has community support. Although I like and respect this community I will be doing this from my own selfish reasons.

I consider myself as investor. My BTSX investment has raised 16 times or 1600% in value from my initial investment. My estimated profit is 15 times my initial investment. So I am willing to invest 1.0667% of my profit and I expect to gain another 16 times or 1600% of my current holdings.

What do I got to lose – nothing, if deal goes off escrow will give me back my money.
What could I gain – many times minus 1% of my current BTSX holdings.

If enough of us feel the same way and we manage to get I3 support I think this could be done.
The benefit of such approach could be measured by speed of light. It would really become our unfair advantage.

Does this make sense?

General Discussion / Re: Some advice from a convert.

So here's my recommendation:
Buy ads on /r/Bitcoin etc. that says
Earn interest on your Bitcoin,
or
Did you know Bitcoin looses $Billion a year?
or
Ten seconds block times, trustless BTC, USD, Gold trading
and lands to a Bitshares-X page geared specifically towards BTC holders.

Buy native advertising on CoinDesk and other crypto media outlets.

Stop wasting money trying to acquire traffic from people interested in buying Bitcoin for the first time. They barely "get" Bitcoin, don't think you can make them understand even deeper levels of abstraction.

I agree with your propositions short term but from time prospective they are too tactical.

Bitcoin has made some promises and some of them are fulfilled and some are not and some never will be.

BisharesX has its promises too and one of them is to be better technology then Bitcoin, and on top of that to replace not only the money but the whole ecosystem associated with it. And that's only beginning.
Beside Bitcoin has barely scratch its targeted market and it is about time to be replaced by more mature technology.
As for getting the technology, me and my wife don't get nothing about GPRS technology but we use it all the time.
You dont need to explain everything you just need to explain how could I benefit from it.

So what is BitsharesX strategic objective?
Who is its really meant for? Who could benefit from it most?
How can we find better, faster, easiest ways to achieve those goals and etc..
I think answer for above questions should be our long term marketing goals.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares X needs an awesome hook...

Those are educated young people feeling comfortable with new technologies. Those people don’t mind a lot about technical detail they are believers and risk takers.

I suggest approaching Apple and requesting they put the BTSX vault app on every device they sell.

Benefit for Apple - it will be the first real industry leading product they have ever sold.
Benefit for us/BTSX - I ton of people blindly following/admiring everything that comes with an Apple Logo on it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9JQsXPd41U

The only thing I have to add to this video is that it is actually a $0.25 Casio not $20.

I agree, those people definitely belong to target audience. Except maybe it is little wider, we need those willing to invest small part of their welt portfolio, so Apple fans yes but only those with welt portfolio.

Marketing is a science, but who are the real progressive geniuses in this field?

Quote from: tonyk
Next step is to claim that History is a science too. Some people do claim this to be the case though. definitely I am not one of them.

Like most things, it's both a science and an art. Mostly an art though. We've got scientific tools like A/B testing to test specific theories, for example.

One genius that comes to mind is Seth Godin. I'm also a huge Gary Halbert and Jay Abraham fan.

I am also Jay Abrahams fan.

But before that you were talking about gap between early adopters and early majority.

I will try to define that gap. Those are small investors (maybe some big one too) which seeks a way to diversify their investing portfolio in some form of asset that cant be depreciated taxed confiscated or in any other form manipulated by government or any other institution influenced by them. Those are educated young people feeling comfortable with new technologies. Those people don’t mind a lot about technical detail they are believers and risk takers.

Above definition is not meant to be 100% accurate I am not professional I have only suggested it as close example.

Now defining this target audience is just first step. Then you need define what they value the most what are their hot spots. Also you need to find out who is after your target audience too. That is of course competition and find the way to diversify from them which bring us to Jay Abrahams USP (Unique Sealing Proposition) which will bring you as only reasonable choice.

For USP you need to pack all of that in one or two sentences and that would be your killer hook

Now, this is work of professional and artist like you said and I couldn’t find better person to suggest for that job other then Jay Abraham personally. Not only for “hook” but for whole marketing project.

I think he could be persuaded to take that job, he is business man after all, especially because I think he could accept smaller fixed amount in fiat and rest in BTSX if community could find out a way to organize itself and collect such funds. In my estimation it could be less then 1% of a current market cap but if you could gain 10000% it seems to me like reasonable choice.

If he could accept to be in charge for marketing of BTSX I think Ort Cloud would be a limit and we could arrive there at Vorp speed 12.

Our target demographic is NOT early adopters. Not yet anyway. We are the innovators and we need to bridge the chasm between innovators and early adopters. The language that gets an early adopter hyped up is completely different than the language that will get mom and dad excited. Both adoption phases require different sets of language.

Ok so please try to define "chasm tip" in between innovators and early adopters. It could help a lot when you trying to design a "hook".
What are their needs. You have to know all possible detail about your target audience in order to drove their attention. When you know details you could try to find hot spots..

1 million

There is one interesting fact about the guy.
It might be a coincidence but he had keep 1 mil for himself and there will be only 21 mil in existence.
It looks like he planned to leave 1 mil in advance. Why he didn’t use simple round number like 20 mil?
Anyway I think he is up to something with it and what it is future will tell..

I've picked out a few favorites from the slogans you have all thrown out, but first, can anyone point me to a summary/video that will explain to me why BitShares is a good investment in less than 2 minutes of my time?

I think Jean Luc tried to point out to USP (Unique selling Proposition)
This is one of “ tools“ in marketing similar to those in coding if I may say so..
It is serious work and it should be done by profesionals.

Many people tried to point out that marketing effort should become more serious.
As Peter Drucker , one of the best-known bussiness guru said, all successfull business are based on two things
Inovation and Marketing
You have your Inovation – it is DACs. How about Marketing?

I strongly suggest we don't discuss:
What should be done about Marketing?
, rather
How to find best people to do this job for the community?

Technical Support / Re: error importing electrum wallet
« on: July 25, 2014, 08:17:14 pm »
Imported from multibit, key imported successfully but my balance remains 0

any hints for me?

As I understood the issue you cant import raw keys. It should be converted to WIF file.
Did you convert raw keys to WIF file (wallet import/export file) if not please check this
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=5883.msg79418#msg79418

I have same issue with Armory and I have manage to get my balance.

162
I have manage to resolve issue with Armory Wallet, maybe somebody could use this.

I have use my private keys from donation and convert it to WIF file here:
http://gobittest.appspot.com/PrivateKey

I use converted key-WIF format key and imported to BTSX wallet.
It worked out I have my balance.

163

Thanks for fast reply.

You should be able to directly export your private keys in BitcoinQt/WIF format and import them into BTSX using wallet_import_private_key command.

I am not tech savvy. How should I export private keys from BitcoinQT?

If this does not work, please first verify and confirm that there is a record for your donation address in the genesis block (warning 5MB file): https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/master/libraries/blockchain/genesis.json

I have found it. There is a record.

So what you suggest?
