You cant tout anything if the Openledger website is still redirecting when you try to look at one of the market urls. So amateurish. Apparently Im the only one who thinks this is a problem.

Technical Support / Re: How do I get my interest on long held assets
« on: January 14, 2016, 11:57:33 pm »
In BitShares 2, shorters dont pay interest for shorting. It was kind of arbitrary and gave the longs even more of an advantage.

Instead we are moving to the much better solution of the Bond market, i.e. p2p lending. Anyone can lend their assets (including BTS) for an interest rate and collateral they choose.

No idea on the bond market's ETA. Its the most eagerly anticipated feature around here, but it seems to have been shelved for now in favour of MAS.

General Discussion / Re: Graphene GUI testing and feedback

@svk @valzav are we going to be able to view markets in the webwallet without having an account? Then we can finally share links to BitShares markets and get altcoin traders interested.

As you know clicking on a market here https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/explorer/markets without an account takes you to the register page, which is dumb. It means that viral growth for BitShares is impossible.

Openledger / Re: OpenLedger Suggestions
« on: January 11, 2016, 11:58:10 pm »
@ccedk got one more potential user for you lol and by his profile he even seems someone who is in the DOGE community for quite a while and may be well known. One user that can potentially bring more! btw check his feedback. He's right we're lacking screenshots of the exchange on the site. It's a must!
https://www.reddit.com/r/cryptsy/comments/40d7iy/inviting_all_cryptsy_users_to_join_openledger_a/

When it was release people loved the interface here. That user was just another example so what we need is to show it off!! Show it on articles, show it on the site. People need something to be impressed about. All the nice talk and features, they're good but this is food for their eyes. whether they want it or not, they're making contact with the exchange as soon as they see the pics with a simple scroll. And from the moment they do they love it.

Screenshots must be added asap @cass (dunno if you have access)

Here are some quotes from that reddit:

by heart, didnt it ask to register before it explained what it is?
Quote
yeah, but i need to see the active markets beforehand before I would decide to join

@svk: Proves what Ive been saying for ages, the OpenLedger exchange frontpage puts people off, because people want to see depth etc before registering, even if it is free.

General Discussion / Re: Welcome to TheDex.org
« on: January 09, 2016, 02:13:17 am »
www.THEDEX.org

I want thedex.org to be familiar and simple for traders like myself and I don't see the need to explain the technicalities of bitshares or even mention bitshares.

Finally someone knows how to choose a decent domain name.

General Discussion / Re: Lessons Learned from Alt Coins
« on: January 09, 2016, 12:06:38 am »
What lessons can we learn about how to launch a successful alt-coin?  Perhaps we could use this information to help us improve BTS marketing.

If you wanted to "create an alt coin" and only a "coin", not a DAC... how would you market it to maximize its market cap to be higher than DOGE.

Lesson: Mining is the "fairest" (if thats possible) distribution method invented, and the method that best prevents whales from dominating the price. Case in point: spawning 30 million BTS to AE.

Lesson: Focus on one great idea (The DEX) and get it finished without succumbing to inventor's ADD.

Im half way through listening to this, the most disappointing hangout so far.

BM says that CNX is going to go after whatever is the most profitable business for CNX, and not necessarily just do the bidding of the BitShares stakeholders. Well what is the point of us holding BTS then? Make a worker proposal that lets the developers focus on finishing one damn product that succeeds in the market, instead of going after multiple pie in the sky ideas. MAS is the new FMV.

33:55 "BitShares' low price is a sign that there is not liquidity at this point in time" ??? BitShares low price is a sign that no one thinks this project is going anywhere.

BitShares wont achieve life, liberty and happiness if every BitShares holder is a bagholder.

General Discussion / Re: Q1 Roadmap for CNX
« on: January 02, 2016, 09:26:50 pm »
Why is bondmarket/p2p lending not on the roadmap? You said yourself that exchanges are the most profitable type of business in the crypto-space, and the best exchanges are distinguishing themselves (and profiting massively) by offering lending for shorting.

Is this MAS thing more than just the pipedream & expensive distraction that blockchain-based voting services was?

General Discussion / Re: DEX Proposal
« on: January 01, 2016, 11:08:49 pm »
A lot of people have expressed interest in having me/CNX focus on the DEX.

If that is the case, I can create a worker proposal that will fund almost full time DEX development.  It will require about $30K per month to have Val, Ben, James, and I working on the DEX 75% of the time.

Otherwise we will have to find other ways to make money.

What are your thoughts on such a proposal?  We would focus on API + Bond + Maker.

I thought you were working on the DEX. Isnt that what BitShares is supposed to be?

General Discussion / Re: POLL: Why are you still hodling BTS?
« on: December 24, 2015, 04:29:26 pm »
why not? Cause i don't have any BTS to hold .. unfortunately i had to sell them over the past weeks  to get some private related challenge solved

Man it sucks when the core devs dont have any stake in the project :(

Just wondering what others think, as I ask this myself.

General Discussion / Do we still have a halving in 2.0?
« on: December 24, 2015, 01:35:59 am »
In post 2.0, do we still have a halving that caps dilution over time? Or is it a case of dilution forever until the project is finished?

I see weve added 3M more shares since 2.0

General Discussion / Re: Is there a plan about margin trade ?
« on: December 21, 2015, 12:38:36 pm »
IIRC there will be UIAs issued for each of the upcoming features (including margin trading/bond market) where you can buy a stake in the fees generated from those features.

The STEALTH asset has already been issued, because thats of a higher priority than the bond market.

BM also commented in a mumble a while back that bond market has some technical issues to be worked out due to the fact that blockchain exchanges are totally public, so manipulators know everyone's margin call prices, telling them how much of something to sell in order to trigger a short squeeze.

General Discussion / Re: Show something good on the front page
« on: December 13, 2015, 09:14:26 pm »
If you want to share a link just share one direct to the USD market rather than mucking around https://bitshares.org/wallet/#/market/USD_BTS. I don't think you need an account to see that do you?

Yes you actually do need an account to see that link, otherwise it redirects you to the Create Account screen. At that point a Bitcoin maximalist would use use that as an excuse to continue believing that you cant have an exchange on a blockchain, and just piss off elsewhere.

Has anyone actually shared a link to BitShares on a Bitcoin forum and got a positive response?

General Discussion / Re: Show something good on the front page
« on: December 12, 2015, 01:10:13 pm »
I don't see much difference.

You sign in polo then you click on exchange and you there.

You sign in OL, then you click on the trade tab and you have a list of the markets, you click and you are there.

It might be good enough for you as an existing user, but is the exchange good enough to convince someone who still wants to believe that BitShares is just an altcoin? Giving the charts quickly on the frontpage without having to register is the way to overcome that misconception.
