General Discussion / Re: Wow, I'm glad I sold.
« on: October 19, 2015, 08:48:47 pm »
Im happy for you.

We might have been sloppy in the past, but have you seen how fast & usable the webwallet is now? Add to that we are finally deflationary!

Good time to buy back in.

General Discussion / Re: 328,028 BTS Reduction in Supply since 2.0

Perhaps svk's time would be better spent putting the new block explorer into the webwallet - its half way there already. We just need graphs for supply etc.

I think its a great idea! Its similar to non-fungible CFDs that I talked about a while back.

Under this system going long on a BitAsset would not give you a fungible / exchange tradeable asset - its just a CFD. I think thats GOOD. If 90% of BitAsset holders just want to get exposure to dollars/gold, and dont want to use that BitAsset as a currency, then they dont need fungibility.

The drawbacks of fungible BitAssets is that the shorts are always at a disadvantage, resulting in less liquidity. This is what BitAsset traders care about the most, and lack of liquidity is our biggest problem.

@Bytemaster: how about having 2 types of markets: the existing type with fungible BitAssets and a new type where both long and short trades are totally symmetrical? (Assuming the 2 types could not co-exist in the same market).

Technical Support / Re: Can't sync blockchain in 0.9.3c
« on: October 18, 2015, 06:58:21 pm »
You dont need to sync the blockchain in order to export your 0.9.3c keys. Your wallet holds your keys whatever the state of the blockchain is.

General Discussion / Re: Stop loaning your Bitshares for shorts

I agree, but what % of BTS being sold to drive down the market is from shorts, and what % is just from whales which no one can do anything about?

Technical Support / Stealth address account
« on: October 18, 2015, 11:28:29 am »
If I want to have a stealth address based account, are my only options right now the cli_wallet? As I understand the web wallet doesnt support it yet.

Are there any docs on this yet?

Edit: although looking at other people's balances is quite fun: https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/account/anonymityforall/overview

General Discussion / Re: What to do with Revenue?
« on: October 17, 2015, 08:55:11 pm »
Market making for liquidity is currently pointless if most people's BTS are tied up in old 0.9 accounts because the migration is too complicated & buggy.

Burning revenue at a greater rate than the expenses/dilution is what the whole system is supposed to do.

If you feel that funds have to be spent to bootstrap liquidity on the internal exchange then thats what a worker proposal would be for. If that brings in more users thereby making BitShares more deflationary in the long term then I would vote for it.

Good question. If the command line was put into the webwallet then we could easily find out.

I just tried to run the cli_wallet to find out but it crashes the witness node.

dat is ridiculous few hours right after release the price is being sent to the inner core of hell

i dont see any legit reason for that

do any of u have clue on what happened

What happened is the whole price rise was just speculators feeding on the hype of our 2.0 release, and once that finished there was no reason to hold and they all just move back into BTC. Everyone on Poloniex hates BTS and just sees it as some plaything to exploit.

General Discussion / Re: TRADE.BTC and TRADE.LTC are up and running
« on: October 17, 2015, 12:33:55 am »
So each gateway will have to create own SomethingBTC? That would be insane!

This is so overwhelming even right now with: BTC, bitBTC and TRADE.BTC. People will not use it because they will not understand it.

Quote
Blocktrades is run by people who have commit access to the BitShares repositories.

Is that mean, that gateways would be only govern by people with commit access to BitShares? This seems to be a huge abuse of power.

I dont think its like that - Metaexchange is being integrated soon.

Yes it is confusing - all the gateways should be focusing on depositing into BitBTC.

No. This is not minimal. I think all TRADE_BTS can be stolen by the owner of the gateway. Why this just cannot automatically buy bitBTC with BTC? Gateway should automatically provide an information about rate bitBTC/BTC and when user deposit real BTC on gateway those BTC should be automatically converted to bitBTC.

Totally agree. WIth TRADE.BTC not only can the BTC be stolen but the UIA can be compromised and steal all the BTS for sale on the orderbook. The risk is greater here than even on a centralized exchanged. I dont see why Blocktrades is advertising their UIA in the webwallet when they already offer to deposit into BitBTC. Moreover having 2 options for trading BTS vs BTC with different security implications will confuse people and dilute liquidity.

Stakeholder Proposals / RAISE fees on BTS transfers!
« on: October 16, 2015, 10:19:57 pm »
It would be better to raise fees on BTS transfers to allow the network to benefit from all those transfers to/from poloniex.

Lets face it all transfers at this point are just to/from an exchange by people who either want out of BitShares altogether or are transferring to their own wallet for the long term. Its not facilitating any real merchant activity at the moment. Either way they wont mind paying a fee of around 50 BTS.

There is MINIMAL RISK in leaving your BTS on the order book at the price you are willing to sell at.

But there is risk when your BTS has been sold for TRADE.BTC, which is still vulnerable to Blocktrades getting goxxed correct?
