Random Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn:Why has Bitcoin failed?
« on: January 15, 2016, 04:44:29 am »
why has every negative prediction about Bitcoin failed , including "pow is waste" ?

because ....  Bitcoin is not about transaction time , cost  , etc . It's about the price/marketcap . When the price is high enough , people will find solution to go around that .  Gold production is toxic to the environment , and human still support gold because the cost will also be enormous otherwise .

I'll say this . Bitcoin as a crypto may never fail , because it's a perfect object for capital . And capital always beats words and text and logical reasons .

(Woman pay high price for a handbag is weird and il-logical , but who cares ? capital already convinced  them they should have one . )

"Bitcoin has no future whilst it’s controlled by fewer than 10 people."

be practical . Not a lot of Chinese people will like to be exposed to a crypto token that's rely on several people(I'm referring to those who give people the impression that if they walk away and BTS will go to zero ) to keep it running  , or lack of liquidity .
It's a fun experiment .

Soooo when it's about Bitshares, the core devs are a problem and nobody wants to be exposed. When it's about Bitcoin though, the core devs don't matter.. all the problems don't matter.. its perfect object for capital.. whatever that means.

you'll know what it means when BTS has 0.00001 second conformation time while people still choose to hold bitcoin regardless of how many flaw it has .

bitcoin devs don't matter because bitcoin's value was never coming from the development . It come from the capital .  The capital picked up a software/protocol and convinced people that's gold .

"Hot money follows hot investments until it doesn't"

What you are describing is the formation of a bubble... bubble can last for a long time, but they all end eventually.  Then that hot money has to search for a new bubble to blow (here's to hoping its BTS).

for the captial, currenlty crypto world is a nice place to blow the bubble. and seems now it's far from the bubble brust.

after all, this is a game about money. we imagine that the problem can be solved by crypto in fact is not so urgent but it's a perfect chance to boast of a good vision to the people.

bitcoin have a lot of weakness and I'm sure people are smart and they know this very clear. so please don't blame bitcoin anymore, because this is the fact, everybody know this.

but it's a perfect object for capital.

The economic base determines the superstructure, and politics is the concentrated expression of economics

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: MUSE Price Discussion
« on: January 14, 2016, 05:33:54 am »
Anyone who hasn't taken advantage of the low MUSE prices only has themselves to blame. I thought I was getting NOTEs at fire sale prices back during their fundraiser. Heck, I was donating to AGS back near the beginning of BitShares, buying up PTS also, and my main reason for doing so was to get in on the Music DAC. Since they opened up the MUSE token, we've had months and months of even lower rock bottom sale prices.

I'm not giving investment advice, but this might be your last chance for awhile, people.

Good luck

MUSE price is kept such a high level just because there's a whale, nothing else. when the whale move out, the price will fall.

Technical observations are basically irrelevant when there is news to trade on. We think news is coming soon with MUSE and that it could be sufficient to significantly affect the price. Therefore, good traders will either: (a) anticipate and trade on that news, or (b) ignore technical signals, sit on the sidelines, and wait.

I think when the news come out is the time the whale almost totally move out.

I choose none of them.

I think my words maybe too hard to be accepted by some people, but I want to express my opinion, I will not choose BTS because the BTS and BM have a bad reputation, this give no confidence to the people. it's hard to build business on it now, recently when I introduce the BTS to some crypto people in china, they say hey I knew it, it's a scam, not decentralized, the developer just want more money, I know this is not true, but it's hard to persuade them even if we have a fantastic product.

maybe you will laugh at this people, but this is the real world, a sccessful bussiness need these people.

General Discussion / Re: exchange preparing for voting
« on: January 12, 2016, 06:17:31 am »
Seeing 60m bts voting for zero witnesses does not inspire me with confidence in the knowledge or commitment of those voting.  If you have bts at yunbi, be aware.

I'm withdrawing mine.  Can't use Yunbi anymore, i guess.  Too bad.

BTC38 has 500 million BTS now

I'm glad to see the BTS is no more a toy of a few people on this forum.

the token and trading information database is mainteined by bitshares network based blockchain. this is a cost saving for the decentralize exchanges.

but it seems they care more about the alt coins wallets mainteins, actually no one can help them about this.

if a thing you think it has kinds of values normally it has no value. the problem is we need to catch the key points and just focus on it to make it happen.

if we want to be the unique blockchain based bank in the world to protect the peoples money we just focus on it first.
if we want to be the greatest exchanges in the world we just focus on it first.
if we want to be the most benefit blockchain based refrel system in the world we just focus on it first.

currently it seems we have a lot of useful features, but actually we have none of them.

« on: January 08, 2016, 04:14:51 pm »
Like Empirical suggested, I'm also in favour of Prediction Markets mostly about sports. There's tons of sports betting platforms and it seems it's what the average joe is more interested in.

Prediction markets about sports has huge potential especially in china and some other asia country. this is a horrible maket you can't imagine in the real world.

I guess you are behind this bitcrab? You have been very vocal against Bytemaster, so you decided to go and urged this exchange (is it Yunbi?) to start voting?

yes, I am behind this, I am not against bytemaster, but I believe Bitshares need more decentralization in decision making.

so I'd like to get more stake into voting.

I am not able to urge anyone, all what I can do is to tell them my ideas and suggest.

Come on, you have been protesting everything that Bytemaster does very actively, this is clearly an attack purely against him.

If you had honestly wanted to help the progress of decentralization you would have asked opinions of other members of the community first. There are very good reasons for why this is not good for Bitshares.

That said, I'm not totally against of exchangest voting. But that would require a few things to happen:
- The exchange informs all customers about this, and preferably also asks them explicitely if this is accetable or not. Did they do it on this case?
- The exchange informs the Bitshares community about this. In this case they didn't.
- The exchange explains their motivation to vote. Are they going to be an active member of the community? Are they going to do more business with Bitshares than just selling BTS? This is really important because exchanges can be our competitors. It might be a serious problem if our competitors start to influence our decisions.
- If exchange is using a proxy, the proxy should explains it's reasons for voting. In this case they are voting laomao who has not published any information of his voting reasoning.

If an exchange is seriously interested in Bitshares and wants to become an active member of the community because they believe in Bitshares, we can welcome them.

But this case is totally fucked up. So what should we do about it? Should we contact Yunbi and ask them to remove their votes?

why? exchanges have the right to do anything they want. they only have responsibility to their users, it can do above things you want, it can do not. if a wallet have BTS, it's one of the community and have the right to vote.

unrelated info , BTC38's reputation was hurt badly by the DNS merger .

I think exchanges should have a say in bitshares .  because they sell BTS to people , if BTS screw with the users and investors , exchanges will be hurt more and maybe even legally responsible .

those who don't wish exchanges vote with their stake , just withdraw it .

Since when do exchanges have ANY say in what ANY cryptos do? Just because we have a voting system they should just be handed over those rights?

I park my car in a parking garage for a week.. gives them the right to do whatever they want with my car.. take it for spin.. sell it.. use it as collateral for other things?

How many people would park their cars in that garages if that's what was going on?

That is exactly what is about to happen here if exchanges start voting.

No, you can park your car to the other place, people are free to trade BTS on centrelize exchanges or trade on DEX. and I also don't think all centrelize exchange will vote, so you always have a choise if you don't like it.

acutally I'm very interested and want to see what will happen.
