Muse/SoundDAC / Re: A TEDxHollywood talk by Michael Terpin

Yes we met him at 2 Bitcoin conferences actually.
He can see where the industry is going. I don't think he's invested in any company doing this type of thing though.
I think PeerTracks is still the only one out there.
There's bittunes and a bunch of "tip artists in BTC" projects, but nothing like what we are doing. Not yet at least.

I am a NOTE holder/buyer and a PeerTracks believer, but I am not going to promote it to my friends and acquaintances in the industry until I can specifically explain to them how they will be getting paid under this model, and until the web site and links are cleaned up.

Fully agree!
We also don't want the word out yet. We aren't presentable yet.
We are working on functionality so that we have a proof of concept that can interest big players. So nothing is pretty yet. It will be in 2015 though. When that time comes, you'll know ^^

Wow excellent Job Robrigo!

That actually sounds like a lot of fun haha. I'd take a break from the laptop to become a secret agent infiltrating stuff for a weekend any day!

Muse/SoundDAC / MIDEM is going to be HUGE!
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:36:23 pm »
Check this out:
http://www.midem.com/en/the-event/overview/sponsors-partners

We are getting so much out of MIDEM already.

We have been invited to (and will be attending!) all the VIP, invite only, events and cocktail parties.
We can put out our ads and logo everywhere.
We can present what PeerTracks is to an invite only VIP breakfast attended by the captains of industry.

All in all.... pretty damn exciting.

Will the Music blockchain (not only Peertracks itself) will be online and delegates producing blocks by that date?

Thanks!

Nope. Our prototype chain should be up but for testing only. No delegates yet, nothing trading on the open market until all is smooth.

Muse/SoundDAC / PeerTracks is going to MIDEM!
« on: May 07, 2015, 07:41:46 pm »
Hello everyone!

Well, it’s May and we have some exciting news for you. We have been asked to speak at MIDEM! I will be on the “Digital Disruptor” discussion panel on June 7th in Cannes, France.
For those that aren’t aware, MIDEM is an event attended by all the big players in the music industry. From labels to publishers to advertisers from all over the world. It’s not a simple conference either; it was set up with the purpose of establishing deals between all who attend. MIDEM provides meeting rooms for the sole purpose of seeing important B2B relationships to take root at the event.

PeerTracks intends to conquer at this conference! The goal is to show the music world how we took bleeding edge technology and turned it into the saviour of the music industry.
We said we were taking this technology OUTSIDE of the crypto world and that’s precisely what we are doing in exactly one month.

Our MVP will be ready by that time and we can take people out for a spin of the platform. None of that “Show me when it’s ready, then we’ll talk” talk.

Apologies for the short and few updates but we are very focused in doing as promised:
-Protecting these ideas from the powerful players that could use them against us
-Bringing this technology and community into the mainstream!

After MIDEM, so many things could change that it’s impossible for me to predict the next couple of months. Exciting times for this community!

Thanks again for the support and a special thanks to Xeroc for urging me to update the forums!  ;)

Hey Guys

I definitely love the initiative! But right now we are not promoting just yet since there's no finished product to show off. Not just yet.
We are focused on development, sales and business relationships.

I'm writting the may update right now actually. I hope it gets everyone as pumped up as we are right now!

General Discussion / Notes are liquid and tradable

To those that weren't aware, Notes are a UIA on the BitShares blockchain and can be traded on the internal market.

Make sure you check out http://whatarenotes.info/

Muse/SoundDAC / April update
« on: April 04, 2015, 07:40:49 pm »
Back from Austin
We are back from the Texas Bitcoin Conference, which took place in Austin on the last weekend of March.
The entire PeerTracks team was present including a founding member of BitSapphire.

We had a 20 minute slot to speak and show off the completed front end of the PeerTracks web app and a few slides of the Moonstone wallet.
The goal of the talk was to introduce the team, show the web app working, explain that we are breaking out of crypto land and going out to the masses independent of the success or failure of Bitcoin or BitShares.
We ended by presenting the moonstone wallet, which will be seamlessly integrated into the PeerTracks web app. The emphasis was placed on the fact that every single PeerTracks artist and music listener will by default have a wallet tied to their account that allows for crosschain transactions in and out of Bitcoin and BitShares related chains. This was a Bitcoin conference and it was important that we explain exactly how important this will be for the entire crypto world!

Where we stand today
Notes are being made liquid as a User Issued Asset on the BitShares Chain and some of you reading this might already have claimed them. They can be traded around right now on the internal market. Nothing has been announced yet since there are a few bugs in the main BitShares client that still need to be taken care of in order to ensure everyone gets their Notes.  As soon as we know for a fact that everyone can simply import their Bitcoin private keys into the BitShares client and their Note balance appears without a hiccup, we will release an official “How to claim my Notes 101” statement.
Notes are presently worth more then they were during at the end of the pre-sale. You can sell your Notes on the internal BitShares market now. We must focus on getting a platform out that can change the entertainment industry. We cannot focus much time on the crypto crowd nor can we divulge much information that could be used by the big players in the industry to crush our efforts. If you can’t stand the few updates we give out publicly, head down to the market and sell your Notes. Do not worry about us. Development will continue whether the market cap is one dollar or a billion dollars.

On Friday the 10th of April, we will release a one pager entitle “What are Notes” at www.WhatAreNotes.info
Make sure you check it out.

The front end (the PeerTracks web app MVP) is complete and is being readied to plug into the music blockchain. A few pioneer artists will be able to create their profile and token as soon as the blockchain is completed!
The blockchain itself is being built as you read this. Most of it is complete and we are approaching testing phase.

Thanks for the support everyone.

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Claiming Notes questions
« on: March 23, 2015, 06:48:04 pm »
I received the Peertracks newsletter but I am wondering a few things:

1) The "Address" below is my public key used to send funds to Note pre-sale or private key?
2) "Message" is a bitshares wallet address or no? If so can this be BTS user name? I have sent funds direct to user name before..
3) It says NOTES will be made liquid on the Bitshares DAC. Is this just the regular Bitshares wallet or a special different one?

From Newsletter:

Example of how an email to contact@bitsharesmusicfoundation.org from you could look:

Address: 13U3XLUTRHLGMwfCmhde7EmQtNdJE7X2zw
Message: New Address: 1A2SAL7i5UwZ3pYuaf7rcBj1U3wffEAoo7
Signature: H0OJtflbALrRR4eRdzf/yCNLe+RFjFZYk3exCij5j3K9PfzvV/2JhExXhEQtVUo=

Everything is Bitcoin. Bitcoin addresses.

include in your email, 1) the exchange address you sent btc from. 2) your new NON-EXCHANGE BTC address you control.  3) Sign that message with your old exchange address proving that you ARE in fact the person that sent funds to the pre-sale and not some guy trying to steal some other guy's Notes.

Make sense?

And yes. Notes will be liquid on the BitShares client.

Notes will be made liquid and tradable at the end of the month. On the BTS network.

The music blockchain will not be ready by that date.

I'm not sure I follow these two statements. Is Notes going to be on BTS while ArtistCoins will be on the Music blockchain?

If this has already been explained somewhere else please feel free link it.

Thank you.

P.s: I have been itching for this ever since I listened to MUSIC on a non crypto podcast (forget the name). There is a LOT going on here.

Notes will be a UIA on the BTS blockchain.

Artist tokens will only come out once the NEW blockchain is ready and plugged into PeerTracks.

No artist tokens UIA until the new blockchain is 100% complete and launched.

I like the way the 'agreement' box at the bottom changes into a check mark.

Not sure about the latin underneath it though..."Fermentum Dolor Magna Vestibulum Ornare"

with a link to:

Quote
Pellentesque sollicitudin vestibulum tristique. Fusce vestibulum eros in placerat efficitur. Ut vitae risus dui. Ut iaculis neque arcu, ut ornare massa blandit a. Duis nec vestibulum massa.

Yes don't worry about it. The legal doc will be there once the platform is ready. We have to be sure everything is included. Not many other platforms are a window into a crypto token creator haha

+ No artist coins but a list of most downloaded songs (in categories). Songs that are in the top 100 cost 1 usd songs out of top 100 cost 50cents.

Money from songs purchases goes to:
- If in Top 100: 20 to Bittunes, 40% to Artist, 40% to Seeders.
- If out of Top 100: 50% to Artist, 50% to Seeders
Always 5 seeders are choosen to be paid randomly if there are more than 5.

We leave this up to the market a.k.a. Peers

Yeah cool project.

We've had on eye on it for a few months.

They aren't really doing the same thing as us. At all. They are focused more on music distribution.

We are out to be the premier music streaming platform. We use market mechanisms to aid in talent discovery.

Bittunes is very distribution centric. I don't think they are designing it to be a consumer facing product like Spotify or Pandora.
PeerTracks aims to be just that, an app people use to listen to and discover music.

Also, distribution of a 4 meg file is borderline free nowadays. It's not like music distributors are having trouble competing with the efficiency of BitTorrent. No Bittorrent's efficiency is in it's pricing.... FREE.
The reason torrents are widespread is because they can't be stopped, no head to cut off, and they offer a cheaper/free product.
Bittunes uses blockchain tech to distribute music. That's not the added value blockchains offer though. The cost of distribution being nearly nill, using p2p networks to distribute doesn't really give you a competitive edge on the legacy system. And Bittunes compared to bittorrent is not free.

I don't think Torrents would ever have taken off (in the music world) if you had a user friendly site/app that allowed you to listen to everything for free and even save it for offline use. Why would anyone bother with torrenting an album if they just looked it up on the music app and started listening instantly?
That's what PeerTracks is doing.
