General Discussion / Re: Brian Page (MktDirector) Is Moving On

I gave BP the benefit of the doubt.  I understood the reasons for waiting for the 'big 1.0 marketing push,' and I defended the lack of results because the I3 team, with greater visibility, confidently backed the work BP did behind the scenes. Suffice to say, the big push hasn't come, the low hanging fruits were left hanging, and I am disappointed.

I am however thrilled about the Null Street team and community marketers.  You guys rock.
Same.
Agreed.

This is absolutely needed.  +5% x 1,000,000.

General Discussion / What's our timeline?
« on: December 10, 2014, 05:40:24 pm »
I remember reading a few months back that the bitUSD debit cards were planned to be available at the end of the year, and I think this was supposed to coincide with the "main" marketing push and release of 1.0, etc. Lately I've seen reference to Q1 2015 for some of this stuff, which could be as many as 4 months out.

How much time are we realistically looking at here? I don't mean to come off as impatient, but it's hard knowing we have this technology and seeing a company like BitReserve come in and muddle our brand with their centralized crap, and knowing that potentially game-changing projects are in the works that can steal the spotlight at any time (Ethereum, Medici, etc)...I don't want to see BTS lose its thunder.

Obviously, if time is needed then it's needed and I have to stay patient, as we don't want to push a half-baked product. I'm just dying to get a good estimate of our overall outlook.

No pressure.  ;)

I learned my trading lessons in the btc world and now improved my strategy for bts: hodl
;)

People said that for Lehman Brother and Bear Stearns as well...

LOL pretty sure BTS is a whole 'nother animal compared to those dinosaurs...

lol @ "...and it will all be due to an anonymous genius who gave his/her/their invention away for free." Not sure if mining a million bitcoins should be considered "free"...

But anyway, this just sounds like another bull with a large bitcoin investment trying to pump up interest with extravagant claims of the future. I don't think BTC has the right stuff to become all of this...but I guess we'll find out in a few years.

If only there were an investment vehicle that could offer all this and more, and faster, and more decentralized, and not waste millions in pointless mining, and provide interest, and.....

Lol everytime the price jumps up like that, I wish I had sold some and waited...but I know, I just f'ing know that the one time I decide to take the plunge and sell some the bull rally will start without me and I'll end up buying back at a premium.

Trading drives me bonkers. I don't know how people can do it without going mad. Sticking to my hold strategy...for now.  :P

Good call btw lil_jay. Spot on.

No thoughts on my 'government delegate' idea?

Maybe try it in its own thread...I think the idea sounds crazy awesome, but I'm not sure if BitShares/society is ready yet...lol

Great, apparently BitReserve tried to push their "Bitgold" on reddit yesterday and people are already confusing the two...what a joke.

For a minute there I thought you meant 500k USD lol.

Details of the exact fees would be good.

...soon to cost a whole lot more than 500k USD... :D

General Discussion / Re: Predict the date of the Bitshares 1.0 release
« on: December 02, 2014, 07:54:36 pm »
I have been harsh on the guys but their history of making deadlines is weak at best.

I am rooting for them this time and I think it will be Dec 31. We should do a pool for a few bitUSD and make this fun  :)

Well if the "not quite but close to 1.0" release is scheduled to come by Christmas, I'd have to imagine a Dec. 31st rollout for 1.0 is fairly optimistic. I guess I'll go ahead and pick February 23rd? Sooner the better though, things gotta get moving before competition can steal the thunder.

"Upgrading PTS to DPOS has been planned for a long time, only nobody at I3 had the time to do it."
If this was the intent of I3 then why did they very deliberately kill BitsharesPTS in order to merge it's value into BTS?

"From a purely technical perspective of course we're starting a new chain with a genesis block based on a snapshot from the old chain. There's really no other way to do it."
You want to start a new social consensus blockchain based on the Bitshares toolkit and airdrop on former PTS holders..that's it in a nutshell. That part I have no problem with. The problem is you state that future DAC's using the Bitshares toolkit are "invited" to honor your new social consensus but why would they? Because you have fraudulently called yourself the "new" BitsharesPTS. This looks like a copy and paste, pump and dump trading off a dead coin's brand and hijacked name...crypto coat-tail riding. And your response it "there's no other way to do it?".

"You can stay on the PoW chain and see where it leads. Most likely it won't lead anywhere but simply stop in its tracks."
THAT WAS THE INTENTION. That was the whole purpose of merging PTS, AGS and all the others. So that there would be one place to snapshot for future DAC's wanting to honor the social consensus. BTS is what represents the Bitshares community not what you're doing. Your blockchain might have a use to some other crypto community but we are already united behind BTS.

"Therefore, the upgrade is mandatory from an economical perspective."
That's like saying "here, I'm going to give you some free crypto in my new unrelated blockchain and you should take it because it's mandatory from an economic perspective." Try to understand, you are not updating PTS, PTS is DEAD..thus you are not adding value to it, because it no longer exists. It's value has been transferred to BTS. You are squatting on the name.

One final thing. You used the Bitshares toolkit to make your blockchain but are you honoring AGS holders? If not, you are violating the social consensus you purport to uphold.

 +5% my sentiments exactly
