This will likely be an unpopular opinion, but I feel I must speak up. The way I see it, the operators are trying to cash in immediately and shift most of the risks of their businesses to those who buy their UIA. If they think their businesses will be wildly successful, then it makes little sense to me as to why they would try to sell so much equity this early in the game. Take a look at the list of cryptocurrency exchanges and notice how many of them have little to no volume. I gave the same warning to the Nxt community when they were largely investing in many UIAs immediately following the creation of their UIA exchange. I think a majority of them wish they would of taken my advice. You have been warned. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers and mean no offence to those who are selling these assets, as you guys likely do not have any bad intentions in offering these sales.

From what I've seen on BitcoinTalk, ICOs (basically the same as UIAs) have been around for a few years now, and aren't anything new. Rule of thumb, is most ICOs are scams. It's however not always that it was intended to be a scam, but just the person couldn't deliver (and then decided they were going to make no effort to reimburse investors). For example, NXT was an ICO.

The reason to however have an ICO can be justified. If the developer(s) intends to work full-time on the project, they have no source of income until the project comes to  frutation. Not everyone is in a position where they can go months (or however long the project would take before ROI) without any pay, so sacrifices need to be made, and thus crowdfunding is born.

It's important to note, not all ICOs/UIAs are the equivalent to equity.

It was most likely due to the unscheduled down time we had today. Perhaps I should add a page on the site that displays the status of the bot.

Freebie / Re: Sharebits Securitah and Forum Mods
« on: December 08, 2015, 05:58:24 pm »
@hybridd Recently I was reminded by a caring BTS Community member that forum mods can read our "personal" messages here.

Which raises the question, how safe are our funds on Sharebits when any forum mod has access to our withdrawal codes at any time?

To my knowledge this isn't the case? If it is, then this is indeed a security issue that must be discussed, however:
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Personal_messages_-_Are_administrators_able_to_view_their_members'_PMs

However, the point was made to be that administrators can violate a persons privacy by force-logging into their account (moderators don't have this power), and then proceeding to read their private messages. I believe with new knowledge we have, there's a large incentive to add 2FA now.

Is the withdraw function not active yet? When I click on it it says I should be signed into my bitsharestalk account which I am.
Sign in using your security code. You need to enter this parameter to perform authenticated-required transactions.

We've changed the way users stats is displayed. It will show you all of the shares you own since the last payout, and tell you how much of the shares you own %-wise.

Payouts have been adjusted to now occur at 0.04 BTC.

An estimate can be calculated like this:
BTS = 0.04 BTC / RATE_BTC_BTS * %-Holding

i.e. if you hold 10% of all shares since the last payout, and suppose the current market value of BTS is 0.00000920,
BTS = 0.04 /  0.00000920 * 0.10 = 434.7826

Technical Support / Determine sender by ONLY txid

With other cryptocurrencies, typically I would use a blockchain explorers api to do this. I'm unsure if @roadscape 's service has a way of doing this so this is a question to him as well.

Suppose I only have the tx id (from receiving funds) i.e. 1.11.510752, how can I determine more information about this transaction (i.e. who sent it)?

@hybridd Reporting that tip codes are still not working (for me), I just get the blank page with background only in both FF and Chrome.

Taking a look into this now, cheers.
I believe kuro made an error when making visual changes, I think it has been fixed (seems to work for me), please confirm on your end. :)

General Discussion / Re: Emergency Measure - Temporary Shutdown
« on: December 04, 2015, 03:04:06 pm »
Alright, I've implemented a credit system. Let me explain how it works since it will apply to some of you on the next payout cycle.

Joe is mining, but doesn't have the most hashing power in the world. For sake of simplicity, let's assume Joe wants to be paid in BTS (and not another asset). Our pool requires you to have mined a minimum of 45 BTS, since we assume transferring could cost upto 45 BTS, thus if you mine 50 BTS in a cycle, you're paid 5 BTS (50-45=5).

Joe mines a humble amount of 20 BTS per cycle.

cycle 1:
Joe mines 20 BTS.
Since Joe doesn't get paid on cycle 1, he's awarded a credit of 20 BTS.

cycle 2:
Joe mines 20 BTS
Joe has a credit of 20 BTS, so he's owed 40 BTS.
Since 40 BTS is still not a sufficient amount, Joe's credit is updated to 40 BTS.

cycle 3:
Joe mines 20 BTS.
Joe has a credit of 40 BTS, so he's owed 60 BTS.
Since 60 BTS is a sufficient amount Joe gets paid 15 BTS (60-45=15).

Fee's hurt miners with weak hashing power the most, and for this I have a possible solution to mitigate the fee-cost that I will discuss with my associates, as well as BCL.

Thank you. Without logging of the prior rounds mining, there would be zero point for anyone with lower hashing power to mine.

Also is there a plan to have stats like the old site with the payout profitability and details on the site?

Things are working good on my side for x11 and sha256.

if you see 0 for a prediction it doesn't necessarily mean 0, but more so indeterminate -- keep in mind these are estimates so they're not necessarily super accurate.

worthless sharebits fun tokens that I can pass around for shits and giggles.

 :-\

I believe the fact that people have paid BTS for them makes them not exactly "worthless".

I could be wrong, unless you consider BTS worthless as well ... and if that's the case, then you're just wrong.

#sharebits "phillyguy" 1 FUCKYOU

I've been waiting to see when assets like this got created, and whether the forum would be against them and try to blacklist/censor them or what would happen, lolz.

General Discussion / Re: feed price should expired over 1 hour

I also encourage all witnesses to run the script often .. something between every 5 to 10 minutes (depending in the threshold limits of the exchanges)
For those not knowing: The price feed will only be published if it is of by 0.5% compared to YOUR last price or if the price is too old (15min)

Question, sorry for off topic, was this script publicly published? I'm interested in having a look at it for learning/educational purposes.

Technical Support / Re: Emotokens / UIA swapbot
« on: December 04, 2015, 10:16:19 am »
This could be directly integrated to ShareBits (likewise iframable) if ShareBits was the one to hold the supply of the said emo tokens. The biggest issue I'd say with this is the fees associated (which through ShareBits would be mitigated).

What is the proper format for X11 to mine BROWNIE.PTS?

In looking at users there appears to be a "|" separating the username and asset, but that's not what the instructions say.

So I'm looking for some clarification. Thanks!

You can use either a space or a "|", both are acceptable.

Code: [Select]
        public static char[] AddressDelimiter = new[] { ' ', '|' };
