Heads up...

I've posted 6 BitShares FAQ Animated Videos

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5JEewc0v87VMXWwGBsiRZRCzfx3wpwOP

I've improved on the text to speech actors, but there is no substitute for the human voice (yet). Translations are in the works for several languages. I likely will not have time to sync the speech and actors lips for the various languages. Instead I'll simply use a dubbed translation track with the video.

Feel free to throw tomatoes and/or other garden veggies, no bottles please.   8)

Hihi
preaching style :)

+5% I can see that, I was shooting for a little Yang to offset the cartoon whimsical Yin aspect. I actually thought of lightening it up a bit near the end. I'll work on that.

Thanks for the feedback.  8)

General Discussion / Re: 20 % for AGS/PTS? Graded alternatives?
« on: March 27, 2014, 06:27:49 pm »
I don't think AGS holders will be demonized just because they are money people. People who were smart enough to get in on the ground floor of other big companies have had stories and movies written about them. They bought into a vision and helped carry it into practice. I don't expect that kind of glorification for AGS, and a little of the opposite sort of attention would be fine if it happens. But without investors and the risks they take to help build something new, we would not have most of the products and services that make up today's economy. And we would see none of the jobs or shareholder opportunities those resulting organizations have created. Capitalism requires investment; it takes money to make money and to execute a vision. There certainly is no shame in helping enable the Bitshares infrastructure, which many of us believe will make the world a better place while continuing to create a broad range of financial opportunities.

Agreed  +5%  There is no shame in supporting a vision, taking risk and then being handsomely rewarded.

If anything we should encourage more AGS investment. As Stan pointed out, the AGS investor is a valuable commodity to any DAC startup. We should attract and then protect these "golden geese"/ "demons".   8)

:-\ regardless what you call, you are still:

A. accepting liability thus guaranteeing payment in case of loss or damage
B. Gambling on an outcome

For this to be a sustainable profitable business and not a "game of chance", an "educated guess" is required. That would require actuarial tables and decision support beyond the scope of the DAC.

Even then, you would suffer from "negative selection", granting coverage to those most likely the highest risk. To spread the risk and stay solvent, you would need to attract a broader universe comprised mostly of those not needing or seeking you.

Insurance premiums are more about managing risk and less about market forces and chance.

:o. Seriously ? Or:

 A. "fresh troll droppings", an oxymoron
 B. "Bear meat",  always a welcome treat
 C. "Noob Turrets", harmless acute and curable condition

Its like saying I can't trade my property with someone else.  Of course I can.

If I sell you my house, you can change the locks.

If I sell you my AGS donation keys, you can't prove I don't still have a copy of the keys. In essence, you can't change the locks.
I think that's a good analogy to the current situation.

However, as a personal "holder" of AGS (not as an Invictus employee), my feeling is that recognition of AGS will inevitably move to a liquid form, just given the entrepreneurial nature of our community. I suspect this will happen not long after the AGS donation phase is completed. Bear in my mine, this is just my personal opinion (and desire, since I feel it will raise the value of AGS).

+5% +5% +5% agreed, "necessity is the mother of invention".   AGS and the greater community are best served with liquidity. I can't imagine a creative safe transfer of AGS is far off.

If any lurkers are thinking of focusing full-time on BitShares projects, don't rule out South Florida as a relocation option.

General Discussion / Re: Scientific Advisor Needed?
« on: March 19, 2014, 11:34:47 pm »
The claim (made by Tomorrow) that I disputed was that what "you" (I3 / DAC-writers / cryptocurrency-coders ) "are doing" "is related to" "AI". He then offers to help any interested collaborators understand his research-level geometry or format their scientific-papers in LaTeX.

If Tomorrow has a "direction" for DACs in mind, and a plan for "helping to make that direction possible", that's fine, but he didn't publish it here.

Hi, "the current DACs are not related to AI", I get it. I post here to make friends and promote MemoryCoin. I don't publish here because here is not where I publish. Why so serious?

+5% tomorrow, no worries...  we catch your drift and I personally love the way your thinking. Keeping one foot on the ground and another in the stars is essential to the organic growth of any enterprise.

Though full "AI" is certainly doable with future incarnations of blockchain technology, a more likely incremental step would be off-chain hybrids and/or "BI" (business intelligence) with 360 degree self adapting chain based data models and decision support applications.

Wait just one second...it sounds like you might have actual experience developing applications.  Thank you for making sense...

I would much rather see a solid finished product that actually adds long-term value as opposed to a product that rewards pump-and-dumpers who so love to destroy projects with their urge to get rich off the ecosystem and lay waste to its long-term value.

Can't tell you how many times I would wait for a game to be finished (usually by Activision Blizzard products) and released, just to see the release date get pushed back 6 months at a time...multiple times!  But when the finished product comes out needing very little polish, the same people who bitched and complained about waiting, aching for that moment of release...finally got it and moaned in ecstacy (no sexual humor implied).

It is much easier to change a critic's mind with a beautiful product released late than it is to change their minds about a project released too early with numerous bugs.

Totally agree, but Blizzard had several super successful products before they can afford to push the release date of new products later and later. If we can get at least one DAC out without numerous bugs, functional but not perfect, all the other DACs can be delayed. It can be X, ME or DNS, even Keyhotee. Community won't be happy about many concepts without product.

I agree... :)

obewan, it take much courage to step down from high dive board while world watch, yes!  Greater feat to stay on ground, till ready to announce.

Seriously though, In my time at Dell, I watched master "Michael Dell" play the "Street" like a fine violin by using the "whisper number" to his advantage.
His secret was simple, "always beat the streets expectations". Doing so, his investor were handsomely rewarded with countless stock splits.

Dan, we love you, we trust you and we're here to help. Take your time, pick a winner and slam it out of the park. No hurries and no worries.

Outside the US and British Common Wealth the term  S.A.  designates an anonymous society, anonymous company, anonymous partnership, etc...

This suggests that a DAS or Distributed Anonymous Society would be more a widely accepted designation. Though I prefer Autonomous over Anonymous.

Regardless, "If you build it, they will come"

Can someone confirm if this is the latest and greatest official FAQ:

https://github.com/nmushegian/invictus-FAQ/blob/master/FAQ.md

If so, is the git now open to "language translation" submissions?  thanks :)
