It is a shame that I have to bite my tongue on forward looking features.

Overall I am in favor of providing tools that allow people to create their own PM with their own judges and profit from it.   The delegates should stick to the role of block production and price feeds.    There are entirely too many different prediction markets out there for the delegates to be the judge.

Isnt the whole point to create a secure decentralized environment for prediction markets functioning honestly? Creating judges seems like more complexity without actually levereging our edge.. might aswell keep pms outside the chain and somehow just reference them.. let some other system worry about the issues since one crack and it would ruin confidence in the whole goal of
the project.

If you remember the prediction markets were the whole point of Bitshares. I remember early on that the main feature after a decentralized exchange that I was excited about was the prediction markets.

I don't know what happened to that or what the roadmap is anymore. I think the price is suffering now compared to last summer because the roadmap is less clear now.

Seriously, roadmap is so badly needed it's crazy that it hasn't happened yet. We need less tongue-biting and more concrete details. Just avoid saying anything obviously controversial (negative attacks against competitors, proposals without discussing the ramifications with fellow devs first, more inflation [hah]) and the BTS community won't panic sell every time you open your mouth. Stick to facts, tell us what is legit going on. Honestly, it really shouldn't be that difficult.

Mike youre right to ask questions. These "public interaction policies" from a so-called professional PR man are retarded. Compare whats going on here with Ethereum: even though their lead developer Gavin Wood is coding like mad, he still maintains a great public profile and gives talks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAwxZ43Ix1s

If someone were to ask me would I buy BTS right now, I would say no because their core developers have the same public profile as Nxt. I dont care if I can find out everything on github, thats not gonna stop the price nosediving.

Yup. This. BTS has gone from an open book to a censored and restrained shell of its former self. Quite sad really. I imagine newcomers to the forums won't even know who BM is anymore. And yet it's BM and his vision/voice that brought many of us here in the first place.

I hope Vitalik and Daniel keep up their talks, they have such complementary natures.

Yup, still waiting on that merged super-duper-multi-humungous-awesome-earth-shattering EtherShares DAC.

THEN -- moon.

Lol I understand the need to avoid "bitching", but damn is it hard to watch those milestones get pushed back from...October? To March...To.....forever...

It'd be nice if there were some kind of "concreteness" to the dates set. Maybe a public dev flogging if they don't make the deadline?  :P

I'm being facetious, but it is hard to stay motivated/enthused about BTS when it feels like the project's development milestones just kinda go on forever.

Agreed, the utter silence coupled with the lack of any solid evidence that work is being done sure doesn't make an investor feel very secure...

If this truly is the solution to avoiding PR problems, it frankly isn't working.

Lol I like how "PR" in Chinese apparently means "abandon all forms of communication"...seriously, how is this supposed to instill investor confidence again??

The silence is deafening lately.

I mean, come on, forum-goers are obviously concerned that the devs are being "muzzled" and "gagged"...a proper "PR" move would be to talk to these people, explain what's going on, why it's not as bad as it seems, etc etc. But just straight up silence? Ain't gonna cut it.

Heads up it's possible you might run into the problem discovered in this thread: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=14607.msg189900#msg189900 but it will be fixed in the next version.

Alright, I've successfully re-associated the second account to my wallet. However, the second account shows that it has no funds. I'm not sure if this is the problem you're describing or not Vikram; the thread you linked shows as "missing or off limits" to me.

I also tried the "wallet_recover_transaction" command described in the wiki to recover the transactions that still say they were sent to "unknown", but it doesn't look like "wallet_recover_transaction" is an available command?

General Discussion / Re: Instead of adding BitShares to a Bitcoin wallet...

Guess I'll join the party.

Can you feel it???  We are tantalizingly close to biggest crypto home run since bitcoin itself.

As most on this thread are already very astute too...  Messaging and positioning is critical.  I would brand it a whole new thing(Coinstamp for example) and it would be a "decentralized bitcoin exchange."  The experience would actually be just like going to bitfinex.

You would deposit bitcoin.  Your account would say you have bitcoin, just like bitfinex says even though what you really have is bitfinexbitcoin. The difference is Coinstamp coin is really bitbtc and it is real time cryptographically provably solvent.  You can use your imagination for the rest.   If bitfinex/bitstamp/btc-e make no distinction between their IOU's and the real thing why should we?  The catch is stealing their liquidity.  When bitfinex started, they used bitstamp liquidity to get themselves up and running.   Apart from some simple GUI stuff, that is the final piece.   And of course and USD/bitUSD gateway.

This is exactly where BTS needs to position itself.  +5%*1,000,000

Xeroc, you're the best man! I thought for sure I would never see those funds again...phew

I'm at work right now, but I'll try going through the website you linked when I get home later. I'll post here if anything comes up.

Thanks!!

Technical Support / Can I get an acccount name re-registered to my wallet?
« on: February 28, 2015, 12:05:42 pm »
I'm hoping I didn't do something stupid here. I created a new account and registered it on the blockchain, then sent a good chunk of BTS to it. The new account in the wallet received it just fine. But then my computer crapped out and I had to reinstall Windows. My latest wallet backup was from about a week before I created the new account though, so when I reimported my wallet, it doesn't show the new account name registered to me and it shows that I sent my BTS to "UNKNOWN".

Is there any way to get the new account re-associated to myself?

I can see in my transaction history when I registered the account on the blockchain for the "unknown" account for 0.1 BTS, under details it says "Register account name: [name of my account]", so it at least has some record of me making the new account. But how can I get it to show up in my accounts list?

So, the solution to perceived poor/mis-communication is no communication?
