I would like to consider myself technically inclined. I have yet to be able to successfully open the wallet. I've done everything short of wiping my computer completely. If this is on purpose then that is fine. If not then a solution really needs to be found. I have brought this up before but, it was not really looked into.

windows 7 pro 64bit.

Have you tried deleting the BitSharesXT folder located in C:>Users>Admin>AppData>Roaming and starting the client?

Yes. I don't know everything about IT but, I would like to think that I've done everything a person can do with a mouse. This means that I have not modified registry settings, changed items inside of a file, or reformatted my pc.

i am sorry to hear this. i am confident that future releases will work with your rig, but for now I think you may be stuck playing the waiting game.

could you describe your issue further: when you open the client, does a splash screen appear briefly, or does absolutely nothing happen? After you attempt to run the application, can you see any BitShares processes running in the background when you press control+alt+delete ?

i also hope that creating a centralized place (!) for users to discuss wallet issues might help streamline usability testing and lead to design improvements

How is that different from dry run 8?

Edit: I see - feedback thread sorry need coffee :) but dry run has feedback too. Or is this feature wise?

good point, there is definitely already some great discussion about the wallet clients going on in the Dry Run topics. thanks for reminding me - i need to comb through the latest one and look for wallet related talk!

however, the reason i started this thread is because the Dry Run threads aren't focused discussions. Many people in those threads are asking for test funds, discussing theoretical financial attacks, proposing suggestions for the way delegates work... etc. Great topics for sure, but I have a feeling a lot of that talk is simply white noise for front end users like me who only wanna look at pretty things.

also, after seeing a few fake wallets floating around the web I thought it might be helpful to create yet another clearly marked place to grab the official wallets from

OFFICIAL DOWNLOAD LINKS
REMINDER: This software is still in BETA and is for testing purposes only
Mac OS X: http://bitshares.org/BitSharesXT-0.1.2.dmg
Windows: http://bitshares.org/BitSharesXT-0.1.0.exe

One of the first and most important customer-facing aspects of the BitShares ecosystem is starting to look pretty good - the wallet!

...but it is not quite finished yet. Here's where we can help: as you might know an intuitive user experience is (just one of many) critical aspects of attracting users to a brand, so lets talk ui/ux design, bug fixes, planned updates, security, etc

QUICK NOTE: If you want to report an issue, please be sure to include a [Win] or [Mac] tag, thanks!

The Good
- It looks great, very aesthetically pleasing and far superior to any dime-a-dozen QT wallet
- Well supported, frequent client improvements and bug fixes
- Quick and responsive to inputs

Suggestions
- Add a back button that takes the user to the previous page (similar to a web browser back button)
- Add informational ecosystem links to the Help section - there's a lot to learn about BitShares and it can get overwhelming, directing people to the new wiki may help guide some lost souls
- Add 'first time user' screens which guide and prompt new users to register a BitShares account/address immediately
- Hide the Console from 'regular' users
- An option to scroll through the earlier console commands used with up/down arrow keys
- Password recovery?
- Improve delegate payout notification/visibility
- [Block Explorer] Add ability to "watch" addresses balances.
- [Command Line] If a command line produces an error, instead of showing "Command aborted." Just run help <command> and show how it should be used.
- A button that copies the Account Key to clipboard
- Ability to control private keys through GUI rather than navigating through hidden folders on the OS
- Temp/trial accounts for new users to test waters (perhaps give a very small bit of XTS upon wallet registration for the first couple of weeks to promote conversion)
- New KPIs on the Overview tab that are more user-friendly
- Option to sort delegates by reliability
- Better description for password creation requirements
- Make it so that users have to save changes to their "Approve" selections. The idea is that it will protect from accidental changes which would be both undesirable and a PITA. The downside is that some may find that having to remember to save changes is a PITA
- Add the ability to "Deselect All" for the "Approve" selections. The idea is that the list is very long and a user may want to start from scratch with their selections.

Bugs/Issues
-  Need more descriptive and user friendly error messages
- [Win] Typo: When unlocking a wallet, the client says "Scanning transaltions", it should say "Scanning transactions"
- [Win] Toggle vote up does not appear to function properly
- [Win] The tooltip that is supposed to display when you hover over "Blocks are synced" in the bottom right corner is a bit finicky and requires too much finesse to trigger
- [Win] Right clicking on images (eg the BitShares logo) brings up an incorrect context menu related to the images temselves
- [Win] Names do not appear in the Unregistered tab of the Directory
- [Win] Selected favorites do not appear in the Unregistered tab of the Directory
- [Win] Unable to load multibit wallet
- [Win] Application does not close correctly and needs to be shut down through task manager
- [Win] The "Daily Income", "Daily Expenses", and "Daily Burn" panels have values of "inf" and "Nan" on first load, until you get synced maybe
- [Mac] Client force closes at random
- [Mac] Errors when closing application
- Gravatar?
- Wallet Account Transaction Ledger displays ERROR for market transactions, that is a display bug.
- The volume metric on the price history is hardcoded to 1... coming soon  :)
- Wallet Account Transaction Ledger does not currently display an entry showing your collateral returned to your account after covering a short position.  (A display issue)

Ah .. you missunderstand ... those 13 delegates are the once your vote for in transaction .. the confirmation time is different

each tx you can approve all your voted-for delegates with the weight of the stake you are transmitting. those 13 delegates each get a vote from you (thanks by the way :) )
I am not sure if you can see the confirmation time somewhere .. i dont use the webwallet but you can for sure somewhere see the block in which your transaction is stored in.

haha damn, i was way off. thanks for the info - will amend my previous post

hey friends,

can we take over that thread on reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2abbq9/we_need_a_decentralized_exchange_first_step_get/

because the bitUSD is EXACTLY what they want!

good find, thanks for sharing

i discovered the cryptospace through reddit and i think we would do well to continue to focus our efforts there

where do you see those "13 delegates"?

when i click the date/time stamp under the transaction tab in my account, it takes me to a list of these delegates:

Net Delegate Vote Update
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-9
Delegate: fox
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-1
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-7
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-2
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-5
Delegate: calyau6
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-8
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-10
Delegate: xeroc-delegate-4
Delegate: calyau1
Delegate: xeldal
Delegate: calyau4

Nice summary

however
confirmed by 13 delegates, and received in less than 5 seconds
is missleading .. block confirmation time is 2 sec .. thus after 5 secs you 'only' have 2 (and a half) confirmations

i think i understand - so those 13 delegates i see are the ones who already have, or who will eventually confirm the transaction. is that correct?

someone just posted this in that reddit thread:

"Since I can't find it anywhere using google, what would the fundamental problems be for Bitshare? Like what would stop it from gaining mass adoption or any serious flaws it may have? (like the 51% attack for bitcoin)

If you have links or articles explaining any problems with it's system please share. I'm considering donating, it sounds like a promising idea."

anyone care to field that one, and maybe give the link some upvotes? the cryptocurrency subreddit (which is where this is posted) is a great place to find people looking for new cryptos, so it would be cool if it got a few more votes/posts to bump the thread back up to relevancy

- Currently on the 8th network testnet and things are going quite well, minus the occasional bug or two that still needs to be fixed.

- Earlier today I successfully sent several batches of 100 XTS from one of my wallets to another. the transactions were confirmed very quickly

- a couple of chinese exchanges are trading promissory notes (btc38 and bter), and it looks like BitShares X will be out soon, probably within the month

is this the type of info you're looking for? feel free to ask any questions related to the projects current status and ill do my best to answer :)

i see your point, however i think the word 'funding' is ambiguous enough to encompass all kinds of capital raising activities - donations included

its concise and easy to follow

my one suggestion might be changing the word 'donation' to 'funding' - makes it sound a bit more serious business venture and less of a charity case  imo :)

context: " A team of dedicated developers have been assembled and over $5 million in donations was raised to grow the BitShares vision."

Technical Support / Re: Wiil this wallet get me 10%?
« on: July 09, 2014, 07:11:45 pm »
Is anyone else using this wallet? or have downloaded it
Looks like it might be bogus, the pts i sent from it for ags still says its 'processing' after a week,
i tried to send the remainder of my balance to my new pts wallet and that also says its 'processing' after three days.
seems like it will accept payments but not send.
Ive sent them 3 emails and got no response.
Could someone more experienced with this forum and bitshares please investigate this site and do whatever it takes to stop others using this wallet id hate to see someone fleeced of a significant amount of money, lucky it was just a bit of an experiment for me to see how the whole ags donation thing works with pts, most of my donations are in btc so im only out of pocket about $20.

After hearing this, I'm 99% this wallet is a scam:

1) The latest official version of BitShares PTS is 1.0.0 as of 2/17/2014 (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=2995.0). The fake wallet you used to donate is version 2.2 (which doesn't exist) and was last updated on 2/10/2014

2) The screenshot included in the link you shared looks nothing like my version of BitShares PTS, nor any iteration I've seen. Big red flag

Sorry you got fleeced, but at least it was only an experiment :)
