Also do you know if there is anywhere in the BitsharesX client where you can see what the actuall version is? I can not find it. Now I know what version I have since I have the old .exe but if I didn't have it I wouldn't know.

as far as i know, the only way to check what software version you are currently using within the BitShares GUI is to go to Console and type "get_info", a few lines down you should see:

"client_version": "0.4.8" or something similar

to devs: it might prove helpful to users if client version information was added to the GUI without needing to use the console.. maybe in the Help -> About section? just a thought (:

edit: DOH, beaten to it by the captain - didn't realize "info" returned the same information as "get_info", good to know

The update fixed my transaction history and the client is working fine on my end. Thanks!

My client (0.4.4 Windows) has been stuck at block 258808 for a few hours now and keeps cycling between "Not connected" and syncing. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no dice. Any suggestions?

General Discussion / Re: Should we reconsider?
« on: August 20, 2014, 08:35:12 pm »

After posting 15 extremely optimistic post, my bipolar nature leads me to this:

Should we really call BTSX 'A Bank'? I really do not think it is fair or beneficial.

After all a bank is a lending institution. All this mumbo-jumbo how it lends providing a collateral,.. just like a mortgage, is not really convincing and or cutting it for me. With a mortgage (and with most of the other stuff given as collateral) it is not money you give, it is something of value but usually not too liquid.

Additionally I am happy enough if BTSX is just a 'Beautiful' eXchange.

We should call it a credit union. We had this discussion before.

Decentralized autonomous credit union.

I know why you did not actually read the post that you quoted.

Credit union is great for:
-Legal reasons;
-Community spirit/ideal it carries;

It is a terrible name in the context I am trying to address.
'Hi, welcome to our credit union, how can I help you'
'Hi, I am interested in the credit/loan products you offer?'
'Uhhhh, let's see, we have.....None?'

call it a Debit Union then  :P

Technical Support / Re: Introduction and Question
« on: August 19, 2014, 11:41:36 pm »
Awesome, thanks for the replies! I'm so happy to be involved in this new technology. I currently own some Bitshares-PTS and Bitshares X.

My question now is, what will happen with this snapshot thing on 8/21? I dont really understand what will happen with my PTS, and how I will receive credit for holding them. Any detailed help is much appreciated!

you should have your PTS in a wallet on your personal computer for the snapshot on 8/21. When the 2 DACs (DNS and FollowMyVote) are released you will claim your shares in them with the private key from your personal PTS wallet

normally I can control this shit, but that just lets me procrastinate something I really do need to go do.

That is one of the larger roadblocks to getting the professional help you need. When you're in control enough to make the rational decisions to seek help you think, "Gah, I'm fine. Not sure what that sh*t was I was feeling before but I'm all good now. Phew".

 +5% this so hard... seek a counselor's help when you're able to, don't get stuck in the rut riverhead described!

pls pm me or skype me if you need someone to talk to man
