Muse/SoundDAC / Re: First PeerTracks gathering

-We’ve figured out a way to make our back end cheap, fast and transparent. So much that it could change the crypto and tech worlds in general. BitShares Music might grow up to be much MUCH more.

This is a intriguing statement right there !!! I'm looking forward to see the exact meaning of all this.

For everything else +1. Keep the updates coming !!

Sparkle, if you manage to pool this thing off with POW this is great. Bitshares is an experiment, and there is a lot more in Bithsares than DPOS, doing that with POW it is a challenge but by all means do it. Keep in mind there are a lot of ideas discussed in this forum and almost none have full approval from everybody  bytemaster's idea included so don't expect to have consensus, witch is perfectly normal and it happens in any other community. If you can't take it well, there is a world of POW community's  out there  that probably will be less critical. If not stay here explained your reason talk about your team your timelines and probably you'll get more credibility from this forum. Blindly accepting unproven ideas or members is not bitsharestalk.org strongest suit.

BM has given up coding and now composing songs while walking up mountain trails.

We are all doomed!! Sell everything!!

Lol lol indeed doomed !!!!

I had an idea for a way to keep the emotional selling propositions, but also have some real details on the introductory pages. How about with every scroll, in addition to the buzzword text there's also a "fact box" with some technical information pertaining to that selling point? It will create more clutter, but it might help customers feel like they're dealing with a real product. Perhaps it is worth a try. This is my ideas for how the frontpage could be done, keeping the current style and pictures. I'm not satisfied with the text I've come up with, but I still think it's better than the current text (which also feels unfinished). Perhaps someone could improve on this further?

I think targeting mainstream users in the broadest sense is too premature, especially for downloading the full node, so I guess that's a point where we disagree on the general marketing direction, and thus my opinion may be of limited use. But especially if mainstream is the target, I think it would be so much better if there were just two simple sentences explaining 1) what the product is 2) how the reader can use the product. Right now the website expects readers to scroll down through a lot of large pictures, then asks people to get started by downloading a program, but it doesn't seem like it properly explains what downloading that program accomplishes. We should at least also explain that they need to go to an exchange and buy BTS or bitUSD to begin earning interest.

However, if I had to design the marketing strategy I think I would use bitshares.org as the place for technical users and bitcoin veterans to get a quick rundown of the specs and as a place to download the client and find exchanges in their country.

Mainstream targeting could be done directly by a bitAsset on-ramp such as getbitusd.com that focused on selling bitassets and letting users download a lightweight client or sign up for a hosted wallet, all in one simple funnel done on a single website.

Yes, yes, yes to everything here.

The design is very nice, but I don't know who it is for.

Yup like the design, great work guys top notch quality. But it seems like there is something missing, once you go trough all the site.  How about a section : "Getting started with Btishares" then will have 3 sections "Merchant"  then one "User"  and one section "Traders" and then a step by step how to use it for all types of users ?

@svk

Come one man...you should have read quite a few other posts from the adored by all of us ABL, since May 16th...

Any of those ring any bells:

-I3 has 40% of BTS?
-I3 is donating money to themselves (instead to ABL).
-All US agencies  are coming after I3, about now. Why ABL? - Cause I said so.

Yep that kind of fud I was talking. Good examples tonyk !!!

@svk I agree this one is a good one by ABL but unfortunately most of them are not like that

I apologize for the grave-digging but here's the conversation you must be referring to:

I am the most controversial member of this forum (if you say so) because this forum is very hostile to users who do not think you know absolutely what you're doing.  Look through old posts, you'll find them and note that they all left.   Most people pick a project, maybe two and stick with it.  I pick all the projects, invest in them all and try to help them all when they are doing the wrong thing.  Look at NXT or Counterparty's forums and you'll see the same thing.  I don't currently comment on Ethereum because they're doing just fine.

I'm sorry I don't think you're doing a great job with Invictus, I really really don't.  This project is by far in last place when compared against the serious players in the space and impugning my motives just further pushes away one of your biggest supporters.

That was back in May, and I'm sorry to say that in terms of global recognition Bitshares is still the little brother in the 2.0 space, despite our product being live and functioning and our market cap being bigger than all the others bar Ripple. Even Mastercoin that's been behind terrible stuff like the Maidsafe IPO somehow gets more recognition and press space than Bitshares.

Adam was making valid points about the lack of marketing and the difficulty in getting people to understand our product, and provided a critical voice. I see he hasn't posted for over a month now, and I for one am sorry to see him go. He could've been a valuable partner but instead we scared him away..

127

@gamey I'm not sure you'll appreciate any of this but I think our community's reaction to both Adam B. Levine and alphaBar are examples of a tribal, cheerleading mentality that doesn't reflect well on us.

ABL once ridiculed our community for not being aware of how far behind we are.  Since then we've launched and killed a chain that had a market cap greater than the large majority of crypto 2.0 projects.

Alphabar is a completely different situation than ABL.  I have mixed feelings on Alphabar.  I would not have been so harsh on him if not for our previous arguments, but I do feel that his requests were genuine.

A lot of the time you get out of the forum what you put in.  I can pick apart these exchanges and will admit some level of culpability, but I don't think these are very good examples.  I don't feel we're any more tribal than elsewhere.  We're usually pretty open to legitimate criticism, but perhaps I am wrong.  I like BTC and other altcoins
even if I am reminded how sucky the confirmation times are whenever I am forced to use it.  A lot of BTC people just despise anything that isn't on *the* official blockchain.  but anyway I digress...

The problem with alphabar and ABL is how they say things. And usually they mixed a bit of fud here and there just to make I spicy, I agree they are good at starting big inflammatory discussions but I disagree with this approach. Just an example when all the rage was going on the forum about the merger. alphabar chose to make a  tread called  "The NEW Bitshares PTS - superDAC slayer!". Now imagine that tread without the "superDAC slayer" part. Guarantee, everybody would have look it up differently it. Turns out he just wanted to create basically an altcoin witch I think is a good idea by the way...and he chose the perfect timing too people  where pissed of with the distribution and merger. I would have waited a week or so before the announcement.
Same goes for ABL it does not feel they want to do constructive criticism they shoot first and ask later.
Both have good point but are especially good when they are proposing a viable solution, or at least don't mix fud ..
Look at CoinHorder post in this tread that is a perfect example of constructive criticism. And I agree with every point is making in . Is not that difficult really..

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Updates. securing funds + march event
« on: November 17, 2014, 12:22:35 am »
We are right in the middle of an 8 day dev meetup.

This project has been narrowed down and prioritized. All I can say right now in a few sentences before we get back to work is that: THIS WILL BE HUGE.

We have stumbled upon many problems in the music industry that can be solved thru blockchain technology. This means the project could be HUGE. We are coming up with a logical step by step, prioritized MVP.

We still have a couple of days to work everything out.

Expect a massive update near the end of the pre-sale.

This will affect the timing or the DAC vs proto-DAC dates and all.

arhag can you code? You have lots of ideas but your posts are often so long that I don't think anybody reads them. It would be useful if you could express these ideas in a more succinct way and/or possibly actually develop them.

I do read every post arhag is writing , and it does not matter how long it is, everything he's posting, to these day I've never find a fault All he's ideas have some "aha" moments for me. I will venture to say that second to bytemaster and Stan, it is arhag posts that I'm looking the most to read. Whatever he writes brings a lot a value to our forum and bitshares. It is so very few people that can understand this deep this amazing technology, that you, vikram, and I3 team are working so hard to develop.

Your point it is fair tough I can't imagine how valuable will be arhag  in developer team ! ! I thing he should be a 100% delegate except probably he does not want it right now.

So arhag what it will take for you to be a 100% paid delegate ?  I'm pretty sure you'll have no problem to get all the votes you need.

Meta / Re: The graveyard is full, and there is no Music subforum anywhere
« on: November 13, 2014, 03:39:44 pm »
Music is on the Graveyard but so very hard to find : https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?board=54.0

Anyway hard to notice, almost no news coming from the Music team. Witch I found really strange. I stooped donating because of that. The blog on the website is empty, Cob does't look that he's very active  either. But this is ok it does not look that anybody care to much either.

General Discussion / Re: Invictus Innovations to Return PTS Donations
« on: November 13, 2014, 01:54:12 am »
Thank you bytemaster, I3, and everyone involved for doing this. I just can't commend you enough for this. Hopefully these words of praise from a very skeptical and somewhat ornery guy are enough to convey the point.  +5%

What am I dreaming ??  :o

I fail  to see how  returning all PTS to donators, can benefit in anyway I3. also I can't understand how can someone  find anything malicious in this act. But hey, it looks that anything is possible .....
So let me see !! Keeping the PTS is alright but given them back is bad ??? I'm not saying that every I3 decision was genius, but common what the heck is wrong with giving PTS back ? You do whatever you want with your money. I3 they do whatever they want with their PTS.
Before, because they have so many, was already bad for some, had they  burn it it would have been bad, now they give them back is bad. Am  I missing something or what ??

There is a killer app for these people but no one has thought of it yet, they will but will it be bitcoin bitshares etherium maidsafe or somthing else? Let's put our brains together and make it bitshares.

Agree until there is a killer up, something easy for everybody to get it's only 50%. If the marketing push will help Bithsares to passe litecoins then we may have a decent shot. I still believe this is amazing technology but it will take something really special to passe it to the masses. Someone will do it for sure. Let hope it is Bitshares !!!
And if we hit 1 billion, then forget it sky is the limit, there's nothing stooping us!!!  For now it will be a big achievement to pass litecoin, we do this the whole world will notice.

The course of the wallet has changed some after the recent bitshares project merger announcement.

Sorry but this sounds very vague. What do you mean by that ? Are you still working on it ?

Furthermore the peertracks feedback has helped us a lot to pick a better financing model.

Who is "us" ? bitsapphire team ? Or you talking about Music ? Care to give more details ?
I know that you are currently working with the Music team. Can you talk about the progress on this ? Are you currently working on the front end future of Peertrack ?

BitShares PTS / Re: Could somebody ELI5?
« on: November 06, 2014, 08:54:55 pm »
Whats going on, are Bitshares-PTS worthless now? I havent been able to keep up much and this stuff is confusing enough for me o_O. I've read up a little and I see that PTS holders wont recieve 10% of future DACS anymore, is there a new one that will replace PTS or what?

This explains everything : http://bitshares.org/bitshares-reloaded/
