Put it to a vote
Voting is not useful for everything. Most people are not entrepreneur, or say not good at running businesses.

I don't think fees play that much of an important role atm but I think this is a good idea to test the market. We can see it how it reacts. If we see more transactions and filled orders then it's worth it and we could continue with it, if not, we can go back to how we are atm. It's a good idea to see how the market reacts.

I asked for a cost to benefit analysis.

However given the idea to 'test'.. what is an even better idea is to research the market.. rather than taking a black eye of being 'unstable' in 'tests'.

I would propose if we really want to know what the market thinks of our fees or fees in the market place in general some market research should be done that provides us with real data from end users.

This should be among the first steps we take when we make decisions like this in order to work on real data instead of feelings.

I could get a researcher to undertake this work if you guys would support a worker proposal to gather such data. We are probably taking about 2 weeks and about $1500 to get the job done considering the data points and market size available.

Otherwise we can just keep playing roulette with Bitshares pricing that thus far as not landed on anything that resulted in significantly good results. Then again, we can keep spinning and may get lucky.
To be honest I support your idea. Thinking in the entrepreneur's way.
I wonder whether it's possible that the block chain hire you as the CEO?

I would support percentage based transfer fees (with a minimum to prevent Spam and a maximum to remain competitive).

I would not support any temporary lowering of fees or any reduction of fees other than moving to percentage based.

We do not want to get in to a race to the bottom.
If I understand correctly, are you saying that you want to pay for this feature?  ;)

TL;DR unable to merge, or say hard to SORT the orders. Every IOU has different inside value based on different trading fee, withdrew fee etc.

Once they're approved by the committee they get standardized, all with the same stats?
Committee has no power nor technical support to do this. You can't force exchanges to store their coins in one wallet to be scanned, for security reason they may spread the coins in many wallets/addresses, technically after every transfer the address would change. You can't force exchanges not lend out coins for interests. Let IOU's be IOU's, let the issuers manage them.

//Update: a bit off-topic though, since they have different value, there would be opportunities for market making among these IOU's. I think alt is dong this, and provided a service for others to do this simpler.

@roadscape in the history, CryptoFresh shows raw json for "proposal_delete_operation" instead of formatted description. See http://cryptofresh.com/u/abit

OP Since I know what you're developing, I've recommended you that a FBA funding model is best.

Would you like to add that option on the poll? I'll vote on that.

Imo a worker proposal with 20M BTS is not much and maybe too little for you but hard to go through, a 100M proposal have no chance to get through.

@abit and that was pretty much what I said, obviously not being enough
Yes I know. Obviously Stan didn't read the OP at all. My fault for haven't quoted more for him.

Polo now has bitUSD market
https://www.poloniex.com/exchange#btc_bitusd

And also bitCNY
https://www.poloniex.com/exchange#btc_bitcny

They're just not liquid. It would be nice if someone could move operations there.

If we were to create assets and close the internal peg we would see the external spreads reduced quite a bit
Chicken and egg?
Thanks to bitcrab, bitCNY premium is quite low. But why still no liquidity on Polo?

Thats the whole reason for writing a polo-style api .. more liquidity ..
Once it is tested and proven stable .. we could even build a simple to use market maker bot
However to run a market maker bot on Polo it doesn't need our new API at all.

thanks @xeroc and @BunkerChain Labs

You're right. I could have researched first. It was just that I sent a few emails just for the sake of it and really wasn't even expecting them to reply back. It was an innocent task. I tried to mention how they could benefit from us but I guess I didn't express myself better.

I think a better approach would be to start by asking what problems do they have when managing operations and how that could be prevented with BitShares. I wanted to but failed to show that concern you mention. I'm just not really used to doing this but I believe it was a good experience. I can always have someone else talking with him, someone with more knowledge.
Imo don't ask. Why will she answer? You should already know it before talk with her, at least you should know some possible problems she's facing. Or perhaps I'm wrong since I'm not a marketing/sales guy.

Any volunteers there?

@cass
Just letting you know I approve your worker.

Stuff missing are those easy steps. In case they're interested they need to know how difficult it is to migrate. What consequences that might have for them. How much time it takes and drawbacks. They need to know that so it doesn't affect their business.

One other detail is, atm we only focus on the users. How they benefit. But we should also focus on businesses because they're the ones who bring great amounts of users. They need to know why they benefit, what's in for them. What to they gain with this. Atm I can only come up with two things: database hosted on the blockchain so less expenses and more safety, saving them money and work. But there should be more. We won't be able to see them BitShares just with this. Referral program... yes, but they already make money with each trade their users do so there's not really a difference. We need to focus on businesses. This case, exchanges. There must be other advantages other than those, otherwise they won't come in.

So, could someone answer the following question in detail for me please: How do exchanges benefit from BitShares? How do they make more money or have more exposure? Let's not confuse with the benefits users have. Exchanges might not care about transparency, etc
@Stan please?

1.  Their users never give up control of their assets so there is no risk of the exchange being hacked and losing their customers money.
2.  They are completely transparent by placing all their assets on the blockchain so no one worries about their solvency or whether there may be hidden gotcha's that have popped up frequently in the industry already.
3.  They can share liquidity and order depth among the customers of all member exchanges while still keeping their own customers' fees.  This makes their Network Effect as big as the sum of all members.
4.  They can offer their customers access to the products and services of all member exchanges while retaining their cut of the transaction fees.

See also original Summer Announcement.
I'm a bit disappointment with this reply. Only abstract things.

Nope, no beep on android.

Any chance u could organize the hodlers into a table showing each users holdings like richlist and allow asc desc sorting on both columns?

Thanx!
I don't like beeps on my PC either.. Don't know how others think though. Any other professional sites beep?

By the way, @roadscape will you consider a worker proposal? I would support you especially when now referral rewards are somehow low for you, although BM have issued you some BROWNIE.PTS in the past.

Sad. So few response.
TL;DR or I missed something? People don't care about the UI and/or voting apathy?
Maybe better if have the UI design done first? Cass, imho we need you.

I've seen you are participating in Anonymint's consensus algorithm discussion on BCT... I am looking forward to reading that thread but haven't had time. Is there anything useful you think could be implemented/tweaked in dPoS to improve it?

Yes, I've mentioned before that totally removing the voting element is the only way to go. That would at least bring DPOS inline with plain POS in terms of majority stake influence.

Rank the top N staking accounts by stake and automatically make them the block producers.
Imo your idea is no difference with "one stake can only vote for one witness".
In addition, with voting, small stake holders are able to speak by grouping.

Good work on the new bot.
I have a question:

How does this "btsbot" effect investers in this asset BTSBOTS detailed here https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,12289.0.html ?
Afaik the BTSBOTS token is now not connected to any business operations. I remember that @alt had an open bid order in the market, but he did say it won't be a permanent order. If you didn't see the order and want a refund, just PM him.
