Technical Support / Re: I'm an apathetic voter
« on: January 09, 2016, 10:20:24 am »
I`m almost a non-voter. Why? Incentives and lack of understanding the proposals.
Plus my skin in the game is not large enough to make a change.
Voting have to be a positive experience.
Make it like Kickstarter, let everyone create beautiful proposals via the GUI or third-party and reward voters.

don't complain why they do not want to spend time on BTS, they have told me:"we really hope BTS can have a good future, but we have little confidence on this, we are not sure it is decentralized, we can keep the trading pair, but we do not want to pay more resource on it."
With this kind of attitude it's not good if they vote!
Corporation democracy works pretty well because everybody who can vote has skin in the game.
Going after the exchanges is not the solution.
IMHO fight voter apathy is the key.

Random thoughts...
Give it utility, not necessarily something useful.
Let something magic happen, People need to smile when they use it.
Make it interactive. Make it a game. If X people make a transaction at the same time and luckily hit the same block, they got rewarded.
Link Tokens to Pictures, make it collectible.
Do something for the society.
Touch peoples hearts.
Let it "rain" puppies.
Facts and stats do not matter so much.
It is not about the coin, it is about Tools, Apps, fancy and unique stuff.
Give people tools to be creative.
Make them feel the coin is alive.
Make it fun.
Edit: a single tool that goes viral can bring you more attention then every marketing campaign could ever do.

Whats the incentive for exchanges to follow that suggestion?

General Discussion / What is BitShares at this very moment?

What is BitShares for you?
Please post max. 5 key points or a short ELI5 about what we are already able to do today, by utilizing the GUI.

I will use your input for my blog and twitter...

I personally feel so strongly about this that I think we should force exchanges to set a proxy by only using the ones that do.
By lending your money to an exchange you are not only accepting the counterparty risk but also lending your voting power and every right that is linked to that stake.
That`s the game.

I`m too lazy to cash out and actually I`m just beginning to understand the system better from day to day.
Giving up now would mean I had invested a lot of my time for just taking a huge loss in money.
Maybe I`m a bullshitwolf and idiot but even if we are all a disorganized bunch of bellyacher I do like to stay side by side with most of you.
No I don`t give up, not now.
